Bye Weeks Challenge Goals

Quest One - Try something new

Cooking! I love cooking and am always looking for new things to try so this goal is 1 new recipe per week.

Quest Two - Mini fitness goal
Changed to one extra day of weight training. So Weights 2x a week: Tuesday and Sunday

Quest Three - Unadulterated joy

Reading for pleasure. I don't do this regularly enough   :neglected:. It always makes my day better so 30 minutes of reading per day. Continuing with meditation also falls under this goal.

Daily Inspiration:

If you want to be a great leader,

you must learn to follow the Tao.
Stop trying to control.
Let go of fixed plans and concepts,
and the world will govern itself.

The more prohibitions you have,
the less virtuous people will be.
The more weapons you have,
the less secure people will be.
The more subsidies you have,
the less self-reliant people will be.

Therefore the Master says:
I let go of the law,
and people become honest.
I let go of economics,
and people become prosperous.
I let go of religion,
and people become serene.
I let go of all desire for the common good,
and the good becomes common as grass.

Day 1 (of 14)

Exercise: 1 hour Pilates, lots of jump board. I'm really feeling my legs today

Meditation: Not yet

Writing: 30 minutes on my paper earlier

Reading: yes, 1 hour and 15 minutes. Just lovely. Almost done with The Good Soldier, a sad but beautiful book.

Water: 1.5L so

Food:

-veggie scramble

-1 minneola

-smoothie (mango, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, whole milk, protein powder, chia seeds)

-1 small slice pizza

mood log:

Too much overthinking today. Just be. Wondering if I use worrying about things the procrastinate.... it takes up a lot of unnecessary time and energy. I guess today's lesson is "don't worry, be happy".

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help! Anxiety and negative thoughts are such a tough battle to fight, I will for sure check out your thread! I think the mood log will help me recognize patterns of when I get negative. Once I understand how the system works I can change it. We can do this!  :rapture:

Great start to the day.

-20 minutes of work on paper already

-15 minutes of walking at an incline on the treadmill

-almost a liter of water already

-working on my goals for the next challenge

My legs are ridiculously sore today so I am walking instead of running. I'll stretch out a bit, walk some more and if my legs feel less sore I will run.

Governing a large country

is like frying a small fish.
You spoil it with too much poking.

Center your country in the Tao
and evil will have no power.
Not that it isn't there,
but you'll be able to step out of its way.

Give evil nothing to oppose
and it will disappear by itself.

Hey, Spooky, what kind of music do you like?

I ask because I found a band that kind of reminds me of you.

oohhhhh I'm intrigued! I like a little bit of everything! I'm a big music person; I listen to a lot of indie/alternative music but my taste is all over the place. Honestly the best way to do it is by genre w/  some favorite artists for representative vibe/styles

-Classic Rock: David Bowie, Queen, Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, T-Rex, The Band, The Beatles, The Kinks, Nick Drake

-Rap: Tribe Called Quest, Digibale Planets, Kendrick Lamar, Notorious B.I.G., N.E.R.D.

-80's music: Squeeze, The Cure, Joy Division, New Order, Crowded House, Sparks (actually Sparks is 70's quelle horreur)

-90's music: Le Tigre, Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, Neutral Milk Hotel, No Doubt, PJ Harvey, Bright Eyes, Belle and Sebastian, Placebo, Yo La Tengo and basically any 90's pop (like Backstreet Boys/NSYNC/Britney Spears)

-current: Beach House, Real Estate, Lower Dens, Hot Chip, Tanlines, Dent May, Yelle, Ratatat, Metric, The Belleville Outfit and I could go on for ever honestly

-I also love musicals, Batboy is my favorite

-And lately I've been getting into Jazz and ambient music

So yeah.... that's probably a wayyyyyyy longer answer than you were expecting (sorry for rambling) but basically I'll probably like it because I like a lot of music. Seriously I have an iPod classic (r.i.p. :neglected:) and it's got over 20,000 songs on it......
