Now I've got to get around to finishing up the quests for my next challenge.  The draft I've got thus far is... unimaginative and uninspiring, at best.

To start us off on the right foot, some things Ranger-like I did today was:

  • Attended my daily Crossfit WOD.
  • Went for my Couch To 5K run to prepare for the Spartan Sprint.
  • And then I replenished my food stores and will spend the evening around the 'fire' in accordance with alienjenn's mini-challenge goals.

I've always wanted to try out parkour. I dabbled in tricking for a while. I've had several discussions on the thin line that seperates Rangers from Assassins and Adventurers. Yesterday I realized for good that I even if I try to work out at home, I can't. The world is not my playground. I need my ritual, need to put on my workout outfit and go to a special place that's ideal for training.

 

More than ever before, I'm feeling 100% Ranger and daym it feels good

Eek! okay, i kind of fell off the planet, posting-wise, late this last challenge. however, I did complete my challenge, and leveled and added to my shiny new stats!

 

i will also be participating in this upcoming challenge, but posting is again going to be a bigger issue because my usual time and place to catch up is at work, during lunch, but I:ll be travelling to a million visiting schools this month and next, so again, I:ll need to keep my butt in line to post every evening.

 

Big, ranger-y acievements that make me feel 50x more ranger:

Rode the entire length of the Shimanami Kaido

Summer Rangery goals!!

- Hiking and zip lining in the Blue Ridge Mountains!

- Swimming in the ocean like a crazy person! And maybe kayaking!

- I feel the burning need to climb a tree at some point this summer... I used to all the time as a kid and want to do it again!

- Visit our local parks

- Hmm, on the 'things I used to do as a kid'... I really have been inspired to jump rope again... must acquire jump rope!

- And keep lifting all the heavy things!!

i should climb trees too! and find a good bit of ocean for swimming. The currents around here are scary, so probably just treading water in the shallows, but that's good too.

Damn, that's a fine idea.  I might have to fit some climbing and hiking into a challenge for the summer.  If I don't, I probably won't make the trip otherwise!  Definitely have to make the time to take a 'natural dip' in one of the ice cold glacial lakes this summer!  It doesn't get much more Rangery than than slogging your way up a great beast of a hill just to leap into a cold lake.

Hi, everyone,

I've decided to delve back into challenges.  I've been floundering for the past few months and need to get back on track.  I contemplated a full respawn (and going back to Level 0/1 for this challenge,) but then thought "Nah."   I' still working on getting my main quest updated and getting my goals SMART and ready to go.  I recently read the book Stop Saying You're Fine.  My big takeaway from the book was to stop setting goals that were just a version of you settling for what you actually want.  I feel like my old Main Quest was just me settling for "good enough."  

In hopes I don't fail epically in this challenge, I am disclosing the following:  I'm moving (finally) on June 14.  The next couple of weeks (including the first week or so of the challenge) will be very challenging (pun intended.)  I have no gym membership left in my current city (or at least as of May 31.)   I have no gym membership yet in the new city.  I still have a lot of packing/minimizing to do in the next 19 days.  I have a good bit of family events in the next 19 days.  I still have to work at my current job throughout the move (I'm not leaving my current job.  I work remotely.)  

Hopefully, setting the reminder to check in here (and in my quest thread) will keep me focused on staying the course!  :)

I'm probably way more excited about climbing a tree than I should be.  AND I will quite possibly get stuck up there and need the fire department to come rescue me......? NAH, I'll Ranger my way down, somehow!!

What are everyone:s summer goals and woots?

 

My goals and woots are mostly getting worked on in this and the next challenge.  I have my Spartan Sprint coming up in the middle of July (this challenge) and my Mud Hero run (next challenge) so I'm putting one tremendous effort into getting my 'beach body' ready to race through the woods and dirt.  Those are what I've been working toward all spring and they'll be my de facto "boss battles" for the summer.  Otherwise I need to get outside for some camping, bonfires, and all together enjoyment of the summer weather.  Trip to the UK in September.  It ought to be a good stretch for the next six months (and I'm sure it'll stay exciting far beyond even that!).

Sounds like you're in need of a good home body weight workout!  I think I've seen one of those floating around these parts from time to time... :pirate:
