I wonder if some food prep would take a little stress off and give you healthy and convenient foods for lunch? I keep my food prep really simple, usually toss a roast in a crock pot then cook a couple of pounds of chicken that I can shred into salads or whatever. I also pre-mix several salads. Makes me eat them if I can just open the fridge and find them waiting for me. Boiled eggs are another staple around my house. I do this every Sunday and it leaves me with lots of food to eat off of and make really quick meals. In the end it's a big time saver except for that one day a week spent in the kitchen.

No good answer for bread or pizza. I don't eat bread anymore but I still sneak in some pizza. Sometimes I can be satisfied with sausage and peppers cooked in tomato sauce and then topped with melted mozzarella. Gives me the favors I love without the stomach upset or water weight that wheat gives me. And other times I just eat the damn pizza :)

As Lightning said, food prep could be very useful! It has definitely changed the game for me, at least... And it doesn't have to be too complicated - just having a big bunch of salad and ready meat in the fridge are a huge help! I also like to prepare some vegetable soup (just vegetables, stock and seasoning - nothing more), which I can just heat up and eat with meat. I might also add some mozzarella cheese to get some fat in my meal...

Confession: I don't do heat well.

It will be 36C today (97f) and I feel like I'm already melting. Good thin I've already done my workout. My mom has offered to do the ironing for me in exchange for me altering a dress for her. I'll take it! ;)

Succeeded with adding veggies to every meal today :)

 

Breakfast was a protein drink with spinach 

At lunch time I added cucumber to the (spelt) bread

Dinner was a bbq with the in-laws. Lots of bell peppers and cucumber (my sister in law, mother in law and me all brought bell peppers and cucumbers, we had a good laugh when we found out :P )

It is too hot here. I've fasted for as  long as I could this morning to keep my temp down (fasting makes you feel colder) and managed 18 hours.

My husband and oldest son are feeling great in this weather, and me and my youngest are crappy with no energy. It's weird.

Oh well, back to netflix :P

The new challenge is going great.

Veggies with every meal. Yesterday my boys asked for pancakes. I made sure I ate a few carrots with them (and my eldest son joined me :) )

And I've also fasted for 18 hours for two days. I feel great, so I think I'll try to continue this.

4th day with an 18 hour fast. I've read somewhere that days 3,4 and 5 are the hardest. Today was very hard, but I pulled through :)

And again veggies with every meal!

 

And dancehall and zumba tonight. I guess the teacher thought it would be fun if none of us could walk tomorrow. My legs are officially out of order :P

Two separate classes. First an hour dancehall/hiphop followed by an hour zumba (same teacher). 

 

 

I'd love to go to a dancehall class and perfect my dutty wine :D

I've done the alternate quest of eating a veggie every meal for a week now. And I must say, I really like it. Makes me creative with food :)

So that is a keeper. I don't miss the number of meals a day quest so that is a goner. And I've been doing 18 hour fasts for 6 days now (one slip up because of the birthday of one of my best friends,  but it still was a 15 hour fast), so I want to change that quest to 18 hours.

 

My new first quest is now:

Don't eat anything before lunch and after dinner. Eat a veggie with every meal.

 

Just 1,5 weeks left in this challenge, lets do this!

This part caught my eye: 

We members of the Nerd Fitness Rebellion believe in a few key ideas (11 rules specifically!). These are the three most crucial:

RULE #1: We know diet is 80-90% of the battle, so we do our best to eat as well as we can as often as possible, and occasionally choose to eat what we want.

RULE #2: We know that we need to have fun with our fitness, so we pick activities that make us happy and get our heart racing.

RULE #3: We also know that a strong and mobile nerd is a healthy nerd, so we make an effort to get stronger through bodyweight exercises or training. Strength makes every other activity in life easier!

 

And those are exactly my goals! Food (IF), Fun (zumba) and strength (weight training).

I think I'm on to something here ;)

I like this very much! A good summary of the important things. I also try to add veggies to every meal we have, and I try to prepare some things ahead of time like Lightning. It is helping me a lot to get around to all my other duties.

Fasting for 18 hours is getting easier. I feel so full of energy when I'm fasting. I wake up at 6 am (normally I get out of bed at 7 and it takes effort :tongue: ) and do so much in the morning. 

But after lunch I collapse. I feel so tired. I even slept the entire afternoon today. Put my boys to bed for their nap and went to bed myself. I woke up just in time for dinner (that my sweet husband was making <3 )...

 

I'm thinking of pushing my window to dinner in stead of lunch and eat an extra meal in the evening. But somehow this scares me. I'm afraid I will be cranky and won't be able to think straight. 

Well, maybe I'll postpone this until the next 6WC.

Maybe what you are eating for lunch is the issue? I know some people get sleepy from carbs while others feel that way after a big protein meal.

Last week has started!

 

My youngest decided to use this first day of the vacation to sleep in till 9 am. The gym only had child care between 9 and 10 am, so I did the body weight workout L2 from the academy. 

After that we went swimming with my MIL. The boys loved swimming with her and even got her to go of the big slide with them :)

 

I was afraid I wouldn't be able to manage swimming on an empty stomach after exercising so I broke my fast early after 15,5 hours. Can't be light headed when I got to keep my boys' heads above water :tongue:

During the last week I'm always thinking of new goals for my next challenge.

I'm think I need to start writing in a journal, write my feelings down. The more I try to change my food habits, the more I think my food abuse comes from some unresolved feelings.

 

I found my last journal in my desk. The last time I wrote in it I thought I was pregnant for the first time, but I had to wait a few days to to the test. My son is almost 5 now :P

Last week has started!

 

My youngest decided to use this first day of the vacation to sleep in till 9 am. The gym only had child care between 9 and 10 am, so I did the body weight workout L2 from the academy. 

After that we went swimming with my MIL. The boys loved swimming with her and even got her to go of the big slide with them :)

 

I was afraid I wouldn't be able to manage swimming on an empty stomach after exercising so I broke my fast early after 15,5 hours. Can't be light headed when I got to keep my boys' heads above water :tongue:

I was thinking of joining the swimming club with the boys, or go to my friend's house in the mornings (will have to be hot weather - not a heated pool!). My friend is their "adopted granny" and my "adopted mom", and in summer she regularly join us in the pool for some "training".

Me too! I struggle to concentrate on what I have to do in the current challenge, thinking of what to change or concentrate on for the next! My biggest comfort food struggle is during shark week in general. If I can get that under control, half the battle will be won. At least I have strengthened my will power with regards to ice cream, but chocolates are still a BIG problem to walk past.

 

Edit:

One thing I realised from reading your comments was that I don't have to eat early morning if I don't want to. I have come to realise that I actually aren't that hungry early morning, and are only having breakfast around 10am, instead of 7am. Of course that means lunch is also a lot later, but being home, and having pre-prepared food in the fridge, means I can accommodate both the boys and myself, by eating at different times.

I wrote in my new journal today and afterwards I had a binge attack :( Well, feelings are coming out, I just hope I'll get those binge attacks under control. 

 

Tonight dancehall and zumba class again! Last weekend was a zumba event where my teacher performed. I couldn't make it unfortunately, but he just posted one of his choreo's on youtube (and he has his fan in it ;) ):
