Of course, douchebag number 1 over here decided that hiking 16.7km wasn't enough, so she (I) ran a bit... with a heavy, unbalanced pack... and TWIST! CRUNCH! SPLAT! I fell in a pile of leaves.

I managed to sprain both my ankle and knee on the same leg. It felt like it was almost an ACL tear, though, so I consider myself lucky. Hurts like a bitch though. I iced it and took some advil. I might take some more. Riding my bike to work today sucked. I tried to get Beardy to come and get it and ride it home for me so I wouldn't leave it out all night, but he has apparently forgotten where I work or didn't know how to get there. Oh well. I rode home. 

 

There were fewer bugs in my face, at least. 

 

Tonight, Beardy is making steak for dinner.

I've taken it easy for a couple of days and I think I could probably go for a long walk tomorrow and back to hiking on Friday. I'm really lucky it wasn't worse.

I did more adulting by buying a bunch of boring stuff we need in our apartment. I'm rewarding myself by cooking chicken Alfredo for dinner.

I ordered a yoga mat yesterday and it arrived today. I did an hour of yoga this morning (one of the Adriene weight loss videos - the one with the F-bomb that I love so much). And coincidentally(?) an email appeared in my inbox from DoYouYoga, saying Erin Mott's yoga Home Practice course is having a flash sale today. Also, if you use the coupon code "LOVEYOGA" then the flash sale plus the coupon cuts the price from $129 all the way down to $39. 

 

So I bought it. 
 

And you can too. 

 

I'm checking it out now and... maybe when I've finished this glass of wine, and waited a bit and had some water... I'll do a little yoga before bed. 

 

In other good news, the only seats available on the flight Beardy and I are taking home to Mauritius in August were business class seats so that's what we got. Emirates A380 business class is the most amazing thing ever. It will be economy on the way back but that's fiiiine. You can't snuggle in business class because the seats are staggered. Also, I may have swooped in and grabbed the miles before my dad could input his code. I don't think he noticed. Bwahaha. 

 

I'm also finding that if I plan my meals out on MyFitnessPal in the morning then I tend to behave better. It also helps to get all the logging done in one shot. Then if I want stuff that's not to plan, it adds admin and makes it less appealing.

I did this one and it was nice.

 

Hmm... Since I'll probably get my license in the early days of this challenge, I think once that's complete I'll change Goal 3 to a Daily Yoga challenge, using my shiny new mat and the course I just bought. Seems like a good plan. I may get a head start on it but I won't track yoga (even if I'm doing it) until the License goal is complete, just to keep my goals small and simple and not get overwhelmed by too many things.

I hope my knee lets me hike tomorrow. I haven't hiked since Sunday's stumble/faceplant. I could just go for a walk, I guess... I should probably do that. It's just...

 

The flat bits are boring.  I like powering up the hills and resting on the downhills. I like the "You can do it" self talk of climbing, and not knowing what's at the top, and following new paths. 

 

But it's probably better to just ease into it after a knee-wrench like that. So off to bed now, and I will go for a walk in the morning. Walk, then yoga. I'm putting it here. It's on the internet. It must be true.

I love hiking in gentle rain. ... it does something to the colors and smells and makes it relaxing (I have to say though i like it more on days when i go home than on days when I'm sleeping out)

Went to the hospital. The diagnosis so far is "well, the specialist isn't in today so we'll stick you in a thigh-high splint and you can go somewhere else tomorrow".

I'm going out of my mind with not being able to move around.

 

Not to sound (more than I normally am) crazy, is there anything the doctor suggested that you could do in the meantime? If nothing else this time could get your focus more aligned for the goals. Set up some of your meal plans, look for those meals that can be paleo and a little fun too. Do you have any particular books set up for your readings?

 

Having to take a pause in the challenge before the challenge starts sucks! Having the heart and spirit to continue after an early speed bump is what makes you great!!

I'm in a thigh high splint so there's not much I can do except leg lifts with the weight of the thing.

Yeah. I'll do what I can. The splint might come off tomorrow depending on what that doctor says.

The best part? I called my boss and told her I'm in a splint and can't do stairs. My office and classrooms are on the third floor with no elevator. She said I must still come to work and she'll just make the kids come to me so I don't have to walk from class to class.
