And good job on this challenge so far

 

Thanks! You know, I often think about what you said about just going for it (it being bike riding) when the weather looks awful, and most of the time, you won't even get wet... and you're so right. Today was a great example. There were awful dark clouds rolling in as I was leaving work, and I thought for sure I was in for it.. but not only was it dry, but it never DID rain - it blew off in another direction. 

 

Yesterday was not a very good back on track day - I was feeling a little embarrassed about it. I did bike commute, so that was good. But my knee was acting up by the time I got home, and so I neither got the workout nor the walk I was hoping to. And then food got a little out of control - literally, I just couldn't stop. Not good. No binging. Gah!

 

Today was better - I biked, for starters. Then even though the hubby took me out for dinner, I managed food pretty well - slightly over in calories, but made my protein and carb goals! Plus we went for an hour long walk after dinner! It was a great date. 

 

Tomorrow I have agreed to go to a "yoga in the park" thing with one of my coworkers. It's on every week, weather permitting, and it's just a $5 drop in fee, so hopefully we like it and go lots! I'm totally counting it as a workout :) Conveniently, it's also directly along my bike route, so it won't interfere with my commuting goal. 

 

Now I need to pack a big breakfast/lunch for tomorrow, so I have lots of good fuel for yoga, and don't buy anything at work!!

Goal One: Eat like a Champ (+2 CHA, +2CON)
I've decided to go the metrics route again this time - I think I've built up enough good habits with bringing lunches, tracking food, prepping in advance etc. that I can get down to the nitty gritty and since I'm going to be tracking food anyways, metrics are probably the best measure of adherence.

6/7 days per week:
Calories: 1400-1700
Carbs: <100g
Protein: >80g

1 pt per item per day:
A = 100+ B = 85+ C = 70+ D = 55+ F = <55

 

15/18 pts Not bad, although the weekend was less than ideal. "B"


Goal Two: Bike Commuting (+3END, +1CHA)
I just started this last challenge, and I mostly love it. It's about an 8 km (5 mi) round trip, and I can do one way in about 20 minutes now. I've been averaging about 3 times per week, and I'd like to get that up to 4. Granted, weather is probably my biggest obstacle in achieving this, but maybe I should suck it up and get used to biking in the rain. Super bonus points for 5!

2 points available per workday. (One for each way)

A = 48+ B = 40+ C = 32+ D = 24+ F = <24

 

3/8 pts Mostly this failure was due to my knee acting up, so I'm trying not to penalize myself for not aggravating an injury. 
 

Goal Three: Workout! +3STR +2DEX
Keeping on with the kettlebell circuits, increasing difficulty as needed. I'm aiming for two per week, but get to add $20 to my wardrobe fund if I get three in.

A = 12+ B = 10+ C = 8+ D = 6+ F = <6

 

1.5/2 pts achieved. Again, knee issues. I probably could have fit another workout in over the weekend, but I played a crazy amount of disc golf instead. Maybe I didn't quite follow my plan, but I was pretty active. Not too worried here. "C"


Goal Four: Steps, steps, steps +2END
I'm still finding having a pedometre very motivational, and want to keep this high degree of low level activity up. I'm aiming for 70,000 steps per week.

A = 420,000+ B = 390,000+ C = 360,000+ D = 330,000+ F=<330,000

 

74,664/70,000. Beat my goal with room to spare again! "A+"

 

 

Well, this week kind of felt worse than it actually was, now that I look at it. I was pretty annoyed about not being able to give 100% for fear of making my knee worse. And while staying off of it for a couple days helped, it's still inclined to swell up with little provocation, so I need to continue to watch it. I'm hoping yoga will be good for it? I am going to have to rework my circuit, at least for now. Moving on though

So great. I forgot how much better yoga classes are than doing it alone at home. I feel so limber! And my bike ride home was super chill.

And apparently it's on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, not just Wednesday! So I think we're going to try to go at least twice a week. Yay!

Oh yeah and I totally thought all day that I had lost my fitbit, I even checked the lost and found at work, thinking I had left it in the locker room when I got changed. I was so sad!

Turns out I just set it somewhere silly in my bedroom... Geez. Oh well, I'm super stoked I found it! I really like that thing, but I'm not sure I could have justified buying a new one after only 6 months.

Thats why I got the Surge. I had lost my original one, and then I lost another one 6 months before the surge came out. I cant loose something thats on my wrist.

Yoga in the park + bike commute - that's awesome on so many levels :D

I love it! I feel so good. And I realized today how much I genuinely love the bike ride, especially in the morning. It's so invigorating, and I find I feel sluggish when I bail.

So I think dinner out Thursday went pretty well, even though calories were a little over. We had mussels to start, then I had duck breast, with veggies. My downfall was the half a bottle of wine that I hadn't planned on! Whoops.

Friday was not so great. Between a couple drinks and too many chips, leaving the bun off my burger didn't help much. But that can be my refeed day.

No plans to eat anywhere but home this weekend, so I'm going to get back on plan immediately.

I'm a smidgen behind on steps this week, so catching up there and getting one more workout in is my focus for the weekend, activity wise. I think I'm going to do an arm focused workout, to continue letting my knee get back to normal.. It's not terrible, but I think maybe the biking is keeping it from getting better altogether.

And, for those of you not keeping score... I biked to and from work every day this week, for the first time! Whoooooopa!

I actually think this is the first time I haven't met my protein goal since this challenge starting, including my off plan days. And I usually smash it out of the water, so I'm not too worried about it. Food was otherwise on track today.

We played a hell of a lot of disc golf today (27 holes) plus the workout... I'm beat! I also strained something in my hip area... Boo. I'm a little not looking forward to finding out how it feels in the morning.

If it's feeling relatively ok, I want to try out a new route to work. It will be a little longer distance wise, but most of it is a paved bike path, so fewer intersections.

Okay, so I actually feel pretty good this morning, considering how incredibly beat up I felt last night! I'm thinking I should probably take a bit of a rest day today - I did a LOT this week, and I'm jumping back into it with biking and yoga tomorrow. Plus it's hella hot, and heat exhaustion isn't much fun.

Still considering doing the new route trial when it starts to cool off tonight, but if not, I'm just going to give myself 15 extra minutes and go for it tomorrow morning.

Totally this.  You are really rocking it.  I'm impressed that even with the going out and going to friend's houses and all that how close your macros are.  Even counting that one 'refeed' day your average seems to be right where you want it to be.  You're doing great.  

 

Glad to see you are back on the streak with your biking.  Hope that knee is acting better.  I just went in for another cortisone shot in one of my knees.  I haven't tried it out in a workout yet but I'm hoping it doesn't hurt anymore and I can start doing away with my modifications again.

While I most deeply appreciate the support, I really don't feel like I lived up to the praise yesterday. I was NOT having a good day (I left the car unlocked, and stuff, including my Hubby's wallet -which he shouldn't have left in there, but still- got stolen... And THEN I basically did the opposite, and locked my keys in the car when I was out shopping... Argh!) And unfortunately my petulant self decided to self medicate with alcohol and carbs :/ not my best moment.

Sigh. Shaking it off. Food has been good so far today, I biked in, and am about to leave for a cold and windy ride home. And then I'm dyeing my hair again tonight, as all the pink/purple is long gone. Fortunately it leaves a nice blonde ombre, but I want purple back :)

Yep, that was a pretty crappy day  filled with suck and not great choices, but today is a new one and a chance to turn it all around and re-focus. You've got this.

Yep, that was a pretty crappy day filled with suck and not great choices, but today is a new one and a chance to turn it all around and re-focus. You've got this.

Truth. Thank you. Refocus is the key concept here - I know I CAN do what I need to, I just need to remember why and how to set up for success.

Yesterday was mostly back on track - I stumbled a bit in the evening when I was getting my hair done - wine and tortilla chips may have been a thing, but at least there was some moderation there.

100% back today.

Screw you, week three slump! So maybe food choices left something to be desired, some days, but activity-wise it was a great week! In all honesty, I could probably stand to have some extra flexibility in my calorie goal, if I'm doing so much. My problem is that I'm going over because of snacking/unhealthy carbs, and that's not where I want it to come from. But going forward, I'm not going to count it if I go over because of sensible eating to support activity levels. 

 

Incidentally, I've lost 6lbs since this challenge started! So something is working here :)

Well played for week 3!  Love seeing all those A's.   macros are tough.  Just when I think I have the perfect formula I have a craving for something that throws the whole thing out of whack.   keep at it.
