Strickland5 Posted May 27, 2015 Report Share Posted May 27, 2015 This will be my seventh challenge and in honor of that I'm looking back over my past six and pulling inspiration from them.Its a time traveling theme ... just go with it My six previous challenge have an interesting theme when you look them over. I'll leave the list under the .Challenge #1Complete Nerd Fitness Basic Training workoutDo Cycling twice a weekSign up and plan first full Marathon Limit Alcohol to 2 drink a weekChallenge #2Complete four Saturday runs of over three miles with pacing of 9m30s (or faster)Go to boot camp 2 times per week! Take my bike out for 2 rides rather than doing long runs.Implement at least three things to help get the house ready for sale.Challenge #3Get in a long run and increase my total weekly mileage Drink at most 4 alcoholic beverage per weekBike at least 4 times over the next 6 weeksRead 2 books in an area of interest that are NOT fiction.Challenge #4TRX at least twice a week throughout the challenge, for a total of 12 classes.Bike ride of 3+ miles each week, for a total of 6 ride.Do 3 photo shoots over the course of the challengeChallenge #5Run 15 miles a week.Limit booze intakeRemove junk from the dietI joined up with some local photogs who are doing a unique project 52Challenge #615 miles worked well last time so let's keep that as our goal!This I COMPLETELY failed at eliminating booze last time around.To get drink less boozes I need to up my water game. SO I'm going to shoot for 16 cups a day.I'll be going to 4 different photography functions over the course of this project.The theme is fairly simple ... I run, I bike, I do bootcamp/TRX, I try to limit booze, I do photography. This MIGHT have to do with my Scout philosophy. I mean really I keep doing the same ole same ole and expect to get different results ... I might be insane Well not really ... when I was marathon training - which was far more intense than any challenge I've done here - I got down to 210lbs though my muscles weren't what I wanted. So I'm hoping to land somewhere between where I am now (~235) and where I was (210) I think 220 or so would look good on me. I'm not looking to do another marathon but do want to hit that sub-2 hour half goal I was robbed of last year. Overall QUEST! Get to 220lbs with the muscles I want! You know while training for my fall half and being awesome for camp NF! Quest 1I need to start getting miles under my feet. I'm going to shoot for 20 miles this time around. I'll allow bike miles to count though I doubt I'll do any as I just prefer running to biking. A - 20+ miles (+2 Sta, +2 Dex)B - 15 miles (+1 Sta, +2 Dex)C - 10 miles (+1 Sta, +1 Dex)F - under 10 miles Quest 2I need to keep logging my food and adjust my intake to keep up with my activity. I'm going to borrow from shaarawy and focus on my protein intake. I'll be logging via MyFitnessPal and keep my fingers crossed. A - 90+ grams (+3 Str +1 Con)B - 80+ grams (+2 Str +1 Con)C - 70+ grams (+1 Str +1 Con)F - 69- grams Quest 3Limit the boozing ... I keep trying and failing at this but dang if I'm not going to give it another go. Seriously booze is my enemy as I enjoy it and in a social situation I tend to have a drink or three too many. Time to summon the willpower! A - 5 drinks (+2 Sta, +2 Wis)B - 6 drinks (+2 Sta, +1 Wis)C - 7 drinks (+1 Sta, +1 Wis)F - 8+ drinks Life Quest Keep up with friends ... I'm failing at this as I'm being a bum. Protein got surprisingly easy EXCEPT when I wasn't in control of my own meals, i.e. going out to dinner. Some places I could get an 8oz chicken breast with a salad or something and be ok, but others... I had to get crafty with. My hint is to get to know your choice of protein filled snacks very well for an extra boost sometimes. BOOZE. YOU CAN DO IT. I KNOW YOU CAN. I actually went 7 whole days without drinking any kind of booze a few weeks ago.... I was like.... !!! It's really really REALLY hard some days but you've just gotta mind over matter it and talk yourself out of it in whatever way works for you. 3 Quote i am not waiting for a hero. i saved myself long ago. Ran in my neighborhood which is HILLY plus it was 75° at 90% humidity so my 11 minute pace wasn't SO bad but still disappointing4.57/20 22.85%22.85% Quest 2Nommed up 164g of protein ... lots of chicken was the key.Quest 3Avoided all booze today as the wife was away from the house this evening. So solo time for me 5/5 100%100% Quest 4Seeing friends Thursday and Friday. Might go to photog tomorrow too but not sure as of now 0%0% [EDIT] Overall it was a solid start to my challenge.
