Princess Pineapple Survives The Zombie Apocalypse

Recommended Posts

Just in case there's a zombie apocalypse, I'm making my plans. I reckon that my first plan of action is to outrun them. I remember failing one particular part on Resident Evil numerous times because I kept trying fight. When I finally decided to make a run for it I made it. Same plan now. I need to be faster, stronger and have greater stamina to do it!

So my first 6 week challenge is focused on outrunning the zombies

Goal 1: is to start to run outdoors. I will run outdoors three times a week. I will spend 30 minutes outdoors and gradually increase the running to walking ratio. I've signed up to beginners running group for motivation.

Goal 2: is to go to the gym twice a week. At each visit I will aim to do at least two of the following, the treadmill Couch to 5k, 45 minute gym programme, 20 length swim or a fitness class, only doing is ok though. I won't always have time for two activities.

Goal 3: is to keep myself well hydrated. I don't drink enough water and I drink diet drinks instead. For the duration of the challenge I will limit myself to one fizzy drink a day and drink two litres of water.

Side quest: is to encourage my family to get fitter. No specific goals but I will get one of them to do something that makes a positive difference everyday.

I hope these are ok for a recruit. I will add statistics on the first day of the challenge and my scoring before then. Please give me some support and feel free to offer advice! I can't handle a sword like Michonne so I need to run to survive!

It's always great to be able to run away from things trying to eat you! :joyous:

Do you already have a plan on how to succeed with goal 3? I do aim for the same pretty much (and at the moment some days coffee and caffeinated diet drinks are my 'water' which just cannot be right). But all I decided to do so far was to always pack water and trying to track it - with an app of course, because I do need apps for every random aspect of life. :topsy_turvy:

I feel like I have to ask! Do you use Zombies,Run!?

Cool theme for your challenge :) I too need to increase my water intake... it's easy for me at work because I facilitate training which is thirsty work! But when its the weekend I get soooo dehydrated!!!

I have the app for when I start to run outdoors. I use a different one for the treadmill. I hadn't heard of it until I came to NF though. Late to the party.

My plan is to have a 750ml bottle with me at my desk for the morning and then another after lunch. I always drink at least two glasses full with my evening meals so that's my 2 litres. I'm not counting any water I drink when I am training.

All good! I got it earlier this year and used it a few times when I started going walking again (broke my foot last year so wasnt able to go far at first).

I like it! It is so much fun to hear weird groans approaching. The story is quite cool too. I might get back into it when it's summer here (Im in NZ so its the first day of winter today!)

What other app do you use for the treadmill?

Just a suggestion, if you are running outdoors then also running on the treadmill might be overkill and you could likely be more productive in the gym by focusing on your other three options.

Hello fellow zombie survivor, I've also got a zombie theme going this challenge (it's going to happen one day, be prepared people!)

ZombiesRun! Is a great app. You can also get an app called Plant Nanny that helps track your water intake. I've not used it myself but I've heard good things from other rebels.

i love that you're going to try and motivate your family to also be fitter and healthier. They need to survive the apocalypse.

You might notice that someone has added a tag to your post.  This is not to box you into a corner but rather because your goals or lifestyle have links to the guild you've been tagged and we'd like to bring you to the attention of one of their guild ambassadors. These ambassadors will be able to offer you advice, encouragement and support on your goals.  You don't even have to wait around for them to come introduce themselves to you, you are more than welcome to pop into the Scouts' board and introduce yourself to the guildies there. I am also around to answer any questions that you might have so do not hesitate to PM me.

Good Luck with your challenge

Love your challenge.  I am also always trying to help motivate my family to being fitter.  LOL  I am working at improving myself (I do have a ways to go) but all I ask is that my kiddo moves for 15-30 minutes a day...dance, run, walk, swatting at tennis balls, just anything.  My husband has his own challenges but with my working so hard he has been supportive and has made some improvements too.  Keep at it!

Stop by the Scouts Tavern (as Blaidd mentioned) and say hello!

Definitely going to follow along.

I'm all ready for tomorrow's start.

My scoring is as follows.

Goal 1: A = 16-18 days, B = 13-15 days, C = 10-12 days, D = 7-9 days, E = 4-6 days, F = 0-3 days.

Goal 2: A = 11-12 days, B = 9-10 days, C = 7-8 days, D = 5-6 days, E = 3-4 days, F = 0-2 days

Goal 3: A = 36-42 days, B = 29-35 days, C = 22-28 days, D = 15-21 days, E = 8-14 days, F = 0-7 days.

To help me achieve my goals I have planned ahead.

Goal 1: I can run with my running group three times a week, which is great motivation and fantastic for helping me pace. I have also downloaded the Zombies Run! App for a bit of fun. I will probably go with the group mostly as it's on four times a week so I can usually make the sessions.

Goal 2: The gym is open from 6 am until 11pm so I can go anytime. My bag is always ready to go.

Goal 3: the fridge is loaded with bottled water. No excuses!

Not only do you have your goals planned but you are definitely prepared.  Way to go!  I keep a small bag ready to go to take to work so I can run/bike during lunch should time permit.  When packing my bike for the morning it pretty much automatically gets packed.  :)

Goal #3 is one that I try to work on as well.  I've reduced Diet Coke intake so that I don't have a case in the fridge all the time, so that's good.  I find it really hard to drink "straight" water and use Crystal Lite made for a 16.9 oz water for my 34 oz bottle.  Just gives it a little flavor!  Like ninjakitten, I feel the need to use apps for every rinky-dink part of my life.  Saying that though, this app is really annoying, in a good way, and reminds me to drink during the day (plus it has charts, which are awesome).  Pretty effective as I'm getting in 3 liters on most days!  Maybe it will help with your goal.  Good luck!

That app looks interesting. But yes... Apps for everything indeed. Someone recently reminded me that the iPhone was introduced in 2007... How did I function before that? Give it a few years and I'll throw away a notepad in frustration because nothing happened when I swiped.

Good to see I'm not the only one who's excited. Hope you'll have a good start!!! The way you prepared it should work just fine. :)

I've been to the gym and had a swim today. I took my youngest and we had races so that's part of my side quest. Usually the kids just want to play in the water but we were swimming today so really putting the effort.

I've drank 2 litres again and only had one diet coke so I still on track.

I think I will update my signature to include my progress.

Great job! I like the idea of adding progress to your signature like that. The progress bars are a little too unwieldy for some purposes, I think.

My goals are more about doing something so I get into routines rather than achieving a target so I didn't think it was worth doing progress bars. I think they be better when I do something more measured on future challenges.

The signature is more for my benefit!
