Korranation Posted June 3, 2015 Report Share Posted June 3, 2015 Ready player one Sup my fellow rebels, I'm back again for another challenge. (Sorry no themed challenge this time.) I burnt out on the last challenge, but that's not stopping me from coming back for another go. The hiccups were mainly from the real life kicking me in the pants. Dealing with college while living with your parents and then some can get pretty hectic. Heck, it's still kicking my butt as I type this. If you're looking to subscribe to a challenger that over uses gifs and talks about how her life is falling apart you've come to the right place! I'm taking summer classes, but forgot to confirm a payment plan, so they got dropped... after I had purchased the books. I spent the day afterward in the heat running all over campus with a readmittance for that needed the signature from the instructor, advisor, chair, dean of business, and the dean of undergrads. After all this work I go to fiscal services to find that they changed their policy and students have to pay out of pocket up front to re-enroll. And this is money I don't have. So I had to go to my bank and take a small loan and move around some investments to make things happen. Now I have to wait two to three business days for the money to transfer to my personal account so I can pay for courses that I am behind in. I also took an five week online course and I'm two weeks behind. While in this hectic game called life I'm gonna try and find some structure in my life before I start packing on any more pounds. Everything is better if it's a game, right? I feel like this is a game of don't starve, where no matter what you do... you. will. die. But at least you leave with a better understanding of the game and some experience points towards unlocking a new character with more unique survival skills. I keep falling, but at least I learnt from mistakes and can avoid them before running into the next unknown obstacle. For this challenge I'm going to take things a little slower and try and build on better habits. The only habit I've gotten out of these challenges is drinking more water. That's progress in my book. Eating (2 +CON)"You can't outrun your fork." That's a saying I always hear either from one of my health nut friends or a health article. I've got a pretty big sweet tooth, but I'd like to see that change by the end of this challenge. After dinner I've gotten in the habit of wandering into the pantry and grabbing a quick fix of sugar and carbs. This time round I'm making a zero tolerance policy on eating after dinner. My goal on MFP is to lose around 1.0 to 1.5lbs per week. That gives me around 1,500 calories to work with. log into MFP x7 per weeklog between 1,200-1,500 calories Exercise (+3 STA , +3 STR)I'm reaching for x6 per week for exercising. I know that sounds like a lot, but I don't like taking too many breaks from a routine. I'll be alternating between strength training, cardio, and yoga. I'm starting off with BBWW and once I get comfortable I'll change the level or the type of workout routine. Beginners Body Weight Workout x2Cardio (stationary bike, walking the dog, treadmill, etc.) x2yoga x2 Sleep (3+CON +1CHA)One of the key things that messed up all of my goals last challenge was my sleep schedule. I never go to bed on time and couldn't get up win the morning, let alone have enough energy to get everything done. I'm not worried about the numbers of hours I sleep, but rather the time I go to bed. I'm setting a time of no later than 11:30. The family is already in bed before then because of work and school. (But now that schools over my small sisters may stay up. They don't make too much noise, so all is good.)lights out at 11:30sleep 7-8 hrs Study (3+WIS)I'm taking summer classes as I've said before. I don't want to make a number of hours I need to study because I don't need to study for the same number of hours everyday. I get easily discouraged if I don't make my mark and this works as reverse motivation. Plus it's a five week class. And it's in speech. I only have to worry about reading the chapters, highlighting important sections, rereading the material, and working on my presentations. I'll be keeping up with the syllabus the best I can and post what I have to do that day followed by and edit of how I did. I just want to be accountable in this aspect. [Edit: I had troubles with financial aid so I can't finish the rest of my June course for this challenge] Words Are Power (+3WIS)Since I can't do communication college course work for a side quest, I'll do things a different way. I've been promising I'd teach myself two things eventually. To speak another language and to practice creative writing. Since I went to bed at 2 in the morning, slept through all my alarms, and almost missed my class that I'm still not registered in thanks to fiscal services. Korranation Posted June 6, 2015 Author Report Share Posted June 6, 2015 I'm starting to get really lazy with these updates. But it's everyone's comments and likes that remind me to keep posting. Today was unproductive. I decided to use one of my off days to sleep in, only to wake up and take my sisters to go shopping and return some merch. I ate terribly and started my meal of the day with half a frozen pizza (don't worry I cooked it.) So for lunch I had a smoothie that consisted of 1%, greek yogurt, and a scoop protein powder. I've only been taking these smoothies for a few days but they stop the cravings I have later on in the day and curb the notorious sweet tooth of mine. Instead of working out I watched Kill Bill. It was worth it. I didn't know if I was watching an action or a comedy at times, since the level of intensity and blood was greater than any other film I can think of.Don't mind me, I'm just sniffing my sword Big news. My family is going on vacation... without me. Since I'm taking a summer course they decided to take an out of state break. They've always been one for a stay-cation since we live in such a large touristy city.On the plus side I get the house to myself for a week. I want to invite friends over but I don't want them to know that the time is going to be for so long. I've got the kind of friends that get together and play drunk cards against humanities, flux, munchkin, or any new board/table top game. I just get this paranoid idea that if they knew they'd just show up at my door one night at some obscene hour and want me to over socialize with them. so I typed all this up at once but somewhere along the way all these pics just found their way in. I started off the day that way with the loner mentality. I had to wake up early to see the fam off. The first thing I did was fall asleep on the sofa upfront with my dog for a while so I got my full eight hours.I made a protein shake again using greek yogurt to cover up the gritty taste of whey. Although I'm ending the night on loner party mentality. I had promised myself I'd go walk the dog an hour before sunset, but instead I ran to the corner grocery store and got cookies, ramen, and sangria. Caught up on Adventure Time (those were some intense episodes) and watching ore monogatari. I regret not working out. I don't have anyone else to worry about but me. When the fam is usually around I worry about being to loud in the morning and waking them up or if I couldn't get a workout in during the morning I (also) worry that I can't fit it into the schedule since I plan everything around them. Seriously. When to take them to school, when to pick the girls up from school, when to run errands the folks can't do for the day, how long it would take to cook dinner, picking up after everyone, etc. I hate it. I'm an altruist. I put others before me, even if it's unhealthy. I now know this and am gonna put my foot down when they get back home. I want to focus on my last few semesters of school and taking care of four other people who can't pull their own weight is not helping. If getting a job gives me some structure and time away from them, then I'll go find one. (I'm looking for online or hybrid classes nowadays since it's such a hassle to get up every everyday, get ready/look presentable, drive to school, and sit in a cold lecture hall) I'm holding myself 100% accountable for this challenge. I'm making a better structured time schedule so I can be better. I can do this. And I have mixed feelings for it (again.)I tried to complete the most goals within the circumstances.The goal I'm most proud of completing is the exercise portion. I got up and did 4 reps of the BBWW. That's one more rep than I did last time. The rest of the goals fell to pieces before the day had even begun. sleep I had stayed up late finishing a paper for class the next day, so my sleep goal was completely shot for today.studyAfter attending class I went to fiscal services to fix my situation. The only problem is that I missed the deadline again by one day and am unable to register for June classes for good this time. So there goes my study goal. Out the window. Never to be seen again. (not until the next challenge.) eatI came home devastated and before I knew what happened I had consumed half a container of shortbread cookies. I still added that to MFP. I'm now severely over my calorie limit. Korranation Posted June 10, 2015 Author Report Share Posted June 10, 2015 So doneDay 02 studyIt feels like this challenge has been going for a while, but I had started a week early just to get a feel for the goals. I still need to change a few of them.Especially the study goal. I don't know what to put in it's place. I could put a book challenge, but with all this extra time I could finish off a book in three days flat. Maybe I'll put a writing prompt challenge where I write everyday from a list of subscribed daily writing prompt examples that I've been neglecting. Or I can practice spanish everyday. I use the duolingo app and it reminds me everyday with a notification and an email. I have no idea why I don't do it. This challenge is all about balance. I've got three solid health challenges down, two small side quests couldn't hurt. It's just half an hour for each and with this excessive time to kill it would give me more structure. And I do love structure. SleepI did pretty good today. I decided to sleep in since my class had been dropped completely and I had nowhere to go for the day. Don't worry I don't get depressed easily or anything. Disassociation and distraction help me with that. And my dog too. He loves giving hugs and is always supportive, he's can be quiet at times but that adds a sense of stoicism. The schnauzer mustache adds to that as well. EatingAfter I woke up I had my usual protein shake. I was hungry an hour later, probably since I ran out of greek yogurt to add to it. So I had tuna. I had a lot of odd things today. I just got a little bored and sad later into the evening so I filled it with pasta and ice cream. That killed my macros that I tried aiming for. I'm questioning the macro part. I didn't put it in the goal description since it's difficult to attain and therefore not realistic and therefore kills the s.m.a.r.t. part of the goal. I know it will help me better towards weight loss. It's just so difficult since most of the edible items in the house are made of sugar and carbs. I'll have to go scavenging through the freezer in the garage. There's a lot of meat in there from a few deer and wild hogs my dad shot last hunting season. I'll have to get creative. No one in the fam eats it anyways. I somehow stayed in the calorie limit though. I've got some chicken defrosting in the fridge for food tomorrow. I'm putting it in the slow cooker over night. That way it keeps all it's juiciness and makes for some good gravy.... But now that I looked at the chicken closer, one of the ziplocks was labeled 2013. Is it safe to eat frozen meat that's that old??? On the bright side I found some frozen pork chops. The not so bright side is there is no date and I don't know how old that is either. The fam seriously does not clean out anything anymore. I'm worried what will happen once I leave and they're left to fend for themselves. The FDA says that any meat is safe for consumption however long it's frozen. I'll give it a try in the morning, if it's good I'll put it in a caserole, if it's bad I'll toss it and cook the porkchops. ExerciseI completed me exercising portion. It took me a while. I spent an hour on the wii trying to get the wii fit disk to read. The console most likely had a dirty disk reader. I'm going to pick up an SD card at gamestop tomorrow to fix that problem. They're so cheap and hold so much memory. I'll just borrow an old data file from a friend of mine. After giving up of the wii for the day I decided to look at a good ol' pic of the blerch. I even copied a few images of him and put him around the house to remind me that lazy beast of a chubby cherub is always hounding me. That gave me the motivation to stop marathoning Rick and Morty (even though it's only 11 episodes out right now) and take a walk with the dog. He doesn't go for many walks so it was difficult to keep up with him since he likes to take a running start. At some point he started slowing down to my pace, after I had to run keep up with him. We walked for about a mile. I rewarded him with a nice piece of cold kitchen tile and ice cubes. Sleep (cont.)As for sleeping I give myself half credit. I went to bed super late but slept for almost eight hours. My weekly average was five and a half hours. But that's what happens when you work out or do anything productive. Waking up this morning was tough enough. I actually had to do stuff. Sleeping is exhausting, eating is tiring, and working out is draining. Existing is a chore. Why is taking of a meat suit while maintaining social conventions do difficult? Eating I'm still trying to figure out this thing called eating. I still can't figure why people love it so much. We do it so often that it's become a passive habit. Hungry? eat a meal. Bored? eat until you're having fun. Sad? eat until that dark empty hole is filled. See some food just sitting around? Doesn't matter where it's been, just eat it. I go through the same thing for my morning routine. I have a protein shake with greek yogurt, oatmeal, eggs over easy, and a coffee. That keeps me sated for a good six hours. After that it's all down hill. There are too many choices for lunch, yet so few options. should I go for just sugar or just carbs? How about we spice things up and have sugar and carbs together? Wanting to try some veggies or meat? Too bad. It takes forever to prepare and doesn't travel well unless you have a fridge or a very large ice pack in an insulated lunchbox. For lunch I tried the chicken I made. It was the chicken I found in the freezer that was from two years ago. I threw it in a casserole and smothered it with cream or mushroom. It didn't help. The consistency of the chicken was liked canned tuna, but worse. If you've ever had the displeasure of having canned chicken or turkey you know what I mean. The meat fell apart and became a gritty, rubbery, freezer burn flavored mush. So I tossed it. I had a pb&j instead. Another problem came out of that too. The jar I normally use is cursed. Every time I eat from it I get sick. And I had completely forgotten this fact till after I had consumed the whole sandwich. Let's just say I spent a lot of time in the bathroom. I gave up on all hope of being healthy for dinner and grabbed for the leftover pasta. I felt bad I let the BLERCH win this round. I decided to go on an adventure to cheer my spirits. I ventured deep within the bowels of the garage to the forgotten fridge of lore. Legend has it that the meats are fresher and the vegetables are more plentiful. The legends were true. After much excavating I found three bags of edamame and an unopened pack of tilapia fillets. Ambrosia was smiling upon me then. I took my haul knowing that facing the blerch would be an easier battle tomorrow. Sleeping Sleeping is overrated. Which is why I'm quitting it. If only it were that simple. I'm so close to figuring out how to fix my schedule. i still stayed up till 3 this morning. I blame Rick & Morty. That was one of the best (newer) cartoons I've seen. There is so much potential in that show. I couldn't stop watching until I was caught up. This time I'm one step closer to cracking the code. And my doge is going to help me do it. I can almost see it now. I go for a stroll a little before the sun sets, come home and cool off, sit down and type out my challenge, and wind down into an evening routine. But for now I'll flounder around until the late hours of the night until sleep finally catches up. ExercisingIt's all about building habits. I just need to find something that is not too monotonous and all should go well. I never went to go pick up the SD cards for the wii so yoga with that is still out of order until further notice. I couldn't get myself to do anything until the evening. You know when you get that feeling like the void swallows you up and doing anything makes you sink deeper into the bottomless abyss not doing anything? That persisted the majority of the day until my dog started to get antsy near the front door. And he never does that. I guess he's my new reminder to go for a walk everyday. We took it easy today and only went around the neighborhood once. Granted it was only a half mile distance and it took less than 12 minutes we were both panting at the end. I didn't feel like that was enough of a workout for me so I completed four sets of the BBWW. My legs feel a little wobbly and it's difficult to walk straight. This what my stwpsister Lilith goes through when she's having low blood sugar. I don't think that's the case since I had 2oz of pasta and a ramune for dinner. More than likely it's dehydration so I'm stocking up on the fluids and have guzzled a good 32 oz already. I'll have a peice of whole wheat toast with brunchy peanut butter just to be safe. (it's not from the the cursed jar) WordingI haven't completed this part being that I decided to do it today and just updated the first post with the details. I'm starting on the language portion right now, but the writing prompt is left untouched. Side quests are meant to be done in the morning. Leaving them for later means leaving them for tomorrow. And those tomorrows start piling up. Pile up enough tomorrows and you'll be left with nothing but a bunch of empty yesterdays. Another thing is that I'm trying to write on all my accountabilibuddies threads, but it's so far into the challenge since it first opened and so many of them have gotten so many replies and responses that it's difficult to read all of it and make an appropriate response myself. I feel like I'm letting myself down by not responding. Even though there are about 13 members. Eating At least I didn't let the dreaded blerch win this round. I woke up late and had lunch with my grandpa. We ate out, but I had gumbo since it wouldn't tempt my to go for the rice or bread. For an early dinner I had a lot of tillapia seared in butter and special seasoning. I did splurge and have a cup of ice cream still staying within my calorie limit. Binging on carrots was the highlight of the day. Either that... or the viniq ruby I drank. I forgot how strong liquor can be. And I think I drank it wrong. It might be meant for cocktails. But I just drank it plain jane. I did most of my exercises drunk, but it was more fun that way. Sleeping I tried my best. I tried going to bed on time, but things got in the way. My dog did not appreciate going to bed early and voiced such opinion until I let him outside. He didn't start scratching at the door to be let in till over half an hour later. Afterwards I got distracted till 2. Idk how I let these things happen. I did sleep in. So I got my full 8 hours. ExercisingI leave the best till last. I took the dog for a walk again. This time it was a little later in the evening. We got to see a beautiful sunset instead of having the sun blind us while walking home. We came home and cooled off for a while until I decided to do some yoga. I was still a little too winded (and drunk) to go for any strength training, so I settled for yoga. I pulled up a youtube video and began the stretching. I may or may not have fallen asleep on the floor in the savasana pose. WordingI have failed you fellow rebels. And I have failed myself. I did not practice spanish or my do my daily writing prompt. I need to complete those int he mornings. Saving them for later is asking for trouble . It seemed like a single serving. So I drank it. And it was good. and it was drunk quickly (as was I). So I had another. . And then I passed out on their deck. You have not let us down. Just make a plan. maybe try scheduling your day.... wake up - do your workouts in the morning, then sit down with some food and do some writing and so duolingo. Then the day is yours. I liked the BBW workout sub for the Wii. That was good thinking and you saved the day. Then in the evening, take your dog (OMG so cute) for a walk and then have a routine. . . Someone gave me a bottle of it - like the size of bottle of beer . It seemed like a single serving. So I drank it. And it was good. and it was drunk quickly (as was I). So I had another. . Or maybe I did last night? Either way, the yoga was relaxing, the floor was comfy, and the 20% alcoholic content of the viniq sure did the trick. I'll start rescheduling right away! Evening workouts are so fun though.
