Benaiah's Problem

Recommended Posts

I don't know where I fall in terms of recruit, stat points, or progress. I consider myself at the back of the line. This is the third time I have started a new recruit challenge post, because I never end up following through. Anyway, I still want to stick with my main quests and not change what I have previously written. They're fine, I just haven't seen them through! My lifting buddy stopped lifting because he needed to focus more on cardio, which is why I think I lost my motivation to continue halfway through the semester.

It would be wise to commit to logging my activities on here, which can be viewed in my daily battle log here. I did not want to wait until the next challenge started. I want to start again as soon as a new week began. I am following Medhi's SL 5x5 as close as I can. I will post progress charts off and on so you can see how things are going. If you read this and I haven't posted anything in the last 3 days, get on my case! It's not your responisibility, but I can't make excuses for taking care of and improving myself.

Below are the previous quests I posted with Life and Motivation updated for this summer. Thanks for reading!

Main Quest: Build back muscle and get stronger

I.    Get at least 8 hours of sleep every night (this means bed around 9 p.m. for me)

II.    Eat 3 square meals a day of at least 2000 calories (fresh foods)

III.    At least 3 days a week go lift weights and 2 days of more intense cardio (sprint intervals, swimming, or biking)

Life Quest: Finish summer school well, complete the two online classes I have before the end of July.

Motivation: I want to see this through and finish what I start!!

(Previously posted): The line of work that I am moving towards requires my body to be in top physical shape for survival reasons (and no it's not the military). I need to gain an attitude of caring for and disciplining my body on a regular basis no matter the circumstances.

Teirin- That would be great!! If you did I think I would set it up (if I can) so that it will shoot me an email.

ninjakitten- Yes, in fact right after posting this I have the stronglifts window up and I am going to hop on there. The guys running it are the ones I started with together a while back (online not irl) so that way they will know I am back and will shame me as I well deserve we can encourage each other forward with where we're at :nevreness:

it's a good thing that you've kinda figured out why you fell off the wagon. It makes it easier to stay on the wagon next time :D

You might notice that someone has added a tag to your post.  This is not to box you into a corner but rather because your goals or lifestyle have links to the guild you've been tagged and we'd like to bring you to the attention of one of their guild ambassadors. These ambassadors will be able to offer you advice, encouragement and support on your goals.  You don't even have to wait around for them to come introduce themselves to you, you are more than welcome to pop into the Warriors' board and introduce yourself to the guildies there. I am also around to answer any questions that you might have so do not hesitate to PM me.

Good Luck with your challenge

End of week 1 for me. Things have been going well. I did the first three days of SL 5x5, got my sleeping schedule back to semi-normal, and have been getting ahead on schoolwork. Tips from the guy at the gym were helpful too. If you want to read about the specifics of what I'm doing, see my daily log (linked below). Eating has also gone well; 3 square meals a day with more fruits and vegetables. Really what I need to do is add more meats and proteins to the menu if I want to increase my muscle mass and truly eat enough to replace what I use up. Anyway, I hope you all are doing well. Thanks for reading!

I'm watching your daily log now as well as this, and glad you made one and are working to keep it current as well as keeping working on your goals.  Giving up and facing if I even want to start over again is something I've struggled with often, and it's inspiring to me to read what you are doing and how you are facing this enemy.  I want to see you succeed, very much.  I want to watch you win this fight.

Watching you come back from having not succeeded on earlier tries, I think that may well help me keep going when I run into troubles of my own.  I sure hope we complete our challenges together.

In answer to the Week 1 SMART Choices mini-challenge

  1. Yes I do believe my overall quest is both achievable and reasonable, over both a short and long period of time actually.
  2. Yes, the three quests build into the main.
  3. Yes the goals are definitely realistic. I know this because I have done then before for short spans of time.
  4. Yes, the sub-goals are easily measurable and trackable (otherwise I would definitely bite off more than I could chew with goal setting). I plan on using excel, this site, and occasionally the live-strong website to track eating.
  5. This is the hard question for me, and I'm actually typing it last. I can't stand the academic grading scale (being at the end of college as I am) so it almost hurts to implement it for the umpteenth time. I think I will use pass fail per week for each area, then at the end I will measure by percentage the number of items per week times the number of weeks (6) that I had the opportunity to complete. This will require me updating my log on here though, which will be the more difficult portion.
  6. If I become ill or injured, I will implement a temporary change of goals that will be measured pass/fail for the weeks I am down.
  7. There will be no consideration for holiday's during this challenge, since anytime I am out of town will be the weekend, and Sat/Sun are typically rest days for the plan. Also, exercise should be a lifestyle decision for me, so leaving town shouldn't stop me. I may shift to doing a bodyweight/improvised lifting routine if I do.
  8. Nope, they don't conflict. However, I usually exercise in the morning, so my sleeping goal certainly affects the motivation to exercise if I am not up early (see daily battle log for evidence).
  9. Yes, I absolutely have time, and not making time is simply laziness on my part.
  10. All energy needed is focused on main quest, while the rest is focused on my life quest (which takes up the majority of my time at the moment).

I believe this allots me +1WIS!! And I have no idea what WIS means, but it sounds nice.

Week 1 went well! Although as you can see I haven't posted in a while and now have to do some catching up on goals and objectives. I did get the wisdom points and now want to hop onto whatever current challenge is going on (haven't looked yet). I will probably only give myself one set of points by the end of the 6 week challenge due to skipping about a week and half. Not to get down on myself, but skipping earns nobody any points. Maybe I will create a category and give myself a couple extra immunity points since I recovered from being sick :P Anyway, things are going well. Eating has been in order. However, during the time away from lifting (and also from being sick) I totally wrecked my sleeping schedule, some was my fault but a lot was restless sleeping that I couldn't figure out. Back in the saddle today and excited to continue!!

This challenge is no longer ongoing, as I have just discovered. however, due to my past with not seeing things through I think it would be most appropriate for me to finish it out and see it through regardless of this one being over. I will continue to post on this thread here (even if Teirin is the only one that follows) so that I can mark finishing this.
