CM Can't Think of a Theme Challenge

Long Term Goal – reduce calculated body fat to 25%

April 25, 2014 – 29.2%

April 6, 2015 – 28.3%

... slow. too slow.

 

If you're new to my challenges, lifting weights turn out to be my favorite exercise routine. That’s why I’m in the warriors! However, I haven’t had specific lift x amount goals because my main focus is to drop that body fat %. I don’t want to muddy the waters. I also have some serious ankle/calf mobility issues which hinder my squat. I’ve been subbing in goblet and front squats for back squats while following a 5/3/1 routine.

 

The goals!

 

Eating

Continued rules that I have down: 1) track on myfitnesspal 2) Log less than 13,300 calories per week. 3) log food before or immediately after it goes in my mouth.

Continued rule that I’m not 100% on: No restaurants or take out except during vacations and life events (see below).

New rules: Eat by Whole 30 rules for the first 30 days of this challenge.

 

Training

Lifting: continue 5/3/1 program at least 3x per week. Switch RDLs out for good mornings. Do research to make sure my form is good. There is really no good reason for changing this other than I’ve never done good mornings and they seem like something I’d like to have in my inventory.

Running: at least once per week

Mobility: 1 hr yoga per week and half hour calf/ankle mobility per week. Also, if I want to continue eating past being done with dinner, I must complete at least 5 minutes of mobility/foam rolling.

 

Life

Do 1 thing to make my apartment more clean every day. i.e. take out trash, load or unload dishes, do laundry, sweep, scrub toilets, vacuum, wipe down counters, clean sink, etc.*

Make the one thing on 6/14 be checking the dryer duct to make sure we’re not going to start a fire. I was totally supposed to do that last challenge and never did.

and yes! i went to the first one because it was a friend of a friend who ran it. it's a blast cuz, ya know, free wine. and really good wine at that. same place my company has their annual party.

 

i should mention that any nearby wine and yoga lovin' nerds should join in! they do it once a month.

Crush it lady!!!

yeah! totally inspired me. although, i will admit it's been sort of a pita buuuut any new chore-like habit will be that way until it becomes second nature :D

 

Monday: rest; 1,721 calories 163g P/ 157g C/ 59g F

Super sore from the savage games and 5K this past weekend. Just could not move. Should’ve done my mobility but got some extra sleep instead. I had bruised/hurt the ball of my foot pretty bad and slept with it iced and elevated for two nights. It's wondrous what that did for healing.

 

I ate leftover chicken chili yesterday which had beans in it and will be eating the last of my greek yogurt today. So Whole 30 doesn’t officially start until 6/10 but other than those two slights, I’ll be on par.

 

AND I realized a typo in my goals, should be “if I want to snack past being done with dinner, I must complete at least 5 minutes of mobility/foam rolling.â€

 

I wiped down the kitchen counters last night for my adulting goal.

It's actually becoming a "thing." the one I go to is at the Boston Winery but i saw this one too and i do love me some Downeast cider soooo if anyone wants to get in on one of these with me, i'd be pretty pumped.

kind of. except way more manly. i knew i needed to step up my warrior game but sheesh! that's some next level shit.

 

 

Nah, it's really kind of the best option, beer gets all sloshy when you're moving around too mcuh.  Sipping on a scotch is the perfect alternative.  Gotta skip the post workout protein shake though (best substituted with steak).

also i meant to mention that i will be making an exception for wine this saturday since i bought the tickets before deciding to go all whole 30. i allowed wine when i went full paleo and still did really well.

did well with food (with the exception of the last of the yogurt). made some bbq pork with fresh pineapple, spices, and tomato paste. will be using that for lunches. been adding cinnamon to my coffee in the morning for a bit of flavor. it doesn't mix well but i like the taste. we just ran out of my friends good coffee that she roasts herself so we're using kirkland/starbucks which can't even hold a candle. especially when you're not putting protein powder in it. been snacking on some fruit before dinner the past couple nights but the carbs aren't too high for me to get concerned.

I do the cinnamon thing to over-roasted and/or not great coffee too! It makes it at least smell like cinnamon even if the taste doesn't come through. I've also steeped chai tea bags into not so great hot coffee before... it's pretty good.
