Are there any chain gyms in particular that you've found work well for the traveling powerlifter? (i.e., have a squat rack, allow deadlifts, easy to buy a day pass...)

Good luck tomorrow!

Gold's is usually ok, tho filled with Bros in the evening. Most are $15 a day. I think some lifetime's have passes too, but there are different types of lifetime gyms. Almost all of the Anytime Fitness have squat racks, but they don't do guest passes

Warriors don't count reps and sets. They count tons.

Well, that felt good.  Weighed in at 274# (yikes!).  That's the next goal....  This should have qualified me for the National meet in Scranton, PA in October.

PR's on all 3 lifts.

Squat 446, 1# PR over the Summer meet 4 weeks ago

Bench 352, 7# PR

Deadlift 452, 17# PR

Met some neat people.  Since Christartist was sick, one of the other lifters' wife took the videos for me.

Check where you are going to be traveling for Anytime Fitness's (www.anytimefitness.com).  I think you can do a pure month to month.  The 24 hour format is great for traveling, since you can flex it around your travel plans.  I'll even stop when I'm driving between destinations to lift.  Almost all of them have private showers, though very few offer towels (I've bought $1 towels at Walmart and then just left them or thrown them away.)

Looks like they have a free trial pass, too. I've found and saved the nearest one--thanks! There's also a YMCA and Gold's Gym nearby. As long as my ID card is ready I should have access to my university's gym, but if not, I now have a few back-ups :).

Just watched your Comp vids.............you made it all look so easy. You rock!

Yeah, bit off in my estimations of my maxes. After the 3rd bench, one of the judges told me I was supposed to do my warmup in the back

Well, I'm officially in for getting to 495/405/495 after this meet.  I hadn't wanted to commit, but having met a couple other older lifters, and with the progress I've made....I just need to focus.  I'm above 85% of the way there now.  Plus one of the guys pointed out that I will be officially a masters 3 (60-69) Jan 1 of the year I turn 60.  My birthday is in December.  So I can start competing as a 60 year old when I'm 59 and 1 month (in about 3 1/2 years).  Right now, I'm already above all the records for FL in the MR2, 125+ class.  I think I can beat everything but the deadlift for the MR2, 120+ class.  Larry just set the record at 502.  So I should set some records while I'm over 125 kg, then lose weight and set a bunch more!  I may be able to own the top of the old dog charts...
