Curl Brogo - Last Challenge in Madtown

Big changes are coming.

 

I'm moving from Madison, WI to Indianapolis in September. My challenge goal is to survive the transition and not lose track of my health goals while I go through it.

 

Some dates to consider:

Aug 7 -- big move day -- I take a uhaul with all my stuff to Indy during this weekend.

Aug 14 -- lease ends -- couch surfing begins

Aug 21 -- Friends are getting married -- drinking and cake happens

Sept 1 -- I'm off the UW payroll and leaving town.

 

Goal 1: Track diet on MFP.

 

I don't care about macros, goals, or whatever really. I just want to get back in the habit of tracking so I can be aware of what I'm consuming and stop eating like a total asshole.

 

Track Every day as close as possible.

 

Goal 2: Make the most of remaining gym membership

 

Membership ends in Sept. I only live in the apartment across the street till Aug 14. Gotta get those workouts in. So it will only be "easy" for the next three weeks. Then I'll have to start going out of my way. My goal is to get 20 workouts in before I leave.

 

Goal 3: Meditate daily

 

10 min. breathing and non-thinking on the ol' zafu. Gotta let my mind release the stress.

 

I'm starting today.

just came from a challenge which combined strength and make up. now its meditation....you warriors are pretty diverse.. love it! im also moving appartment this thursday and pretty nervous about it. good to take a break and hang out here once in a while... :onthego:

Agreed.  Been through four myself in adult life.  The first was the easiest, of course!  After that it gets worse.  On top of that, all of my moves were professional jobs and yours is DIY.  Each move is also an opportunity to reduce the size of your life by shedding some stuff.  How much stuff do you have?

 

I also find moves to be rough on the diet.  You are not in your home yet.  You might be on the road.  More likely to eat out.  Do you have any ideas that will help?

 

August 7 is coming up fast!  I was hopeful for a meetup, but I suspect moves are very busy and the only meetup you might have time for would be moving itself.

 

Going to your previous Challenge, one thing I liked about it is your decision to convert to kilograms.  Did it help you?

I helped move somebody move into a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator a few years ago.  They had sooooo much stuff.

I know what you mean. I tend to consume too much pizza, fast food, takeout, etc. I'm not sure what I'm really gonna do. I have the one week where its just me in my apartment. I'll still have a pan or two to cook with. Then a couple weeks couch surfing... that's where its tricky.

 

And yeah too bad a WI/MN meetup didn't come together. I've continued to be busy, and lacking transportation all summer. It won't be hard to convince me to come back for a visit once in a while when I get a car.

 

Kg switch... idk. Kinda. Maybe if I'd stuck my challenge better. I actually set it back to pounds yesterday.

On the plus side, I'm not moving into a 3rd floor apt. or even a 2nd floor. And I don't have anything large. Lots of heavy boxes of books though.

 

The downside, I'm moving back in with the folks for a while till I find a real job and get back on my feet.

 

The other plus, live at home, save money, buy a power rack!

I ate a whole container of chobani with a whole box of kashi go lean crunch. Also a pound of asparagus.

Granted, it's healthier then ice cream and pizza, but I still kinda ate like an asshole.

My punishment: the yogurt is making me fart and the asparagus is going to make my pee reek.

All the smells.

at last.. i have arrived at a guild where people eat. im an old woman but i could do a 0.5liter chobani in one sitting! hehe

I was downing a gallon of fat free milk plus an equivalent in dried fat free milk every weekend. It took me a while to figure out that those were causing my gas explosions on Sunday nights. I experimented with other dairy products to conclude that it is the lactose that's the specific problem. I guess it's not surprising considering I'm half Asian. Greek yogurt has a fairly high concentration of sugars which I would assume is lactose, so I can't do that either.

Low fat cottage cheese is much lower in lactose. You might wanna try that in relative moderation (1lb/day).

good luck with everything! if you can manage living with your parents, i'd say do so for as long as possible and throw everything you've got at student loans (if you have them). i was terribly depressed living back at home after my half-masters, i only lasted 3 months. paying rent was justifiable ;)

That's part of the plan... without paying rent I can pay off debt faster. Still gotta figure out how I'm gonna get those $'s though.

And reminding myself constantly that I'm living at home in my thirties should be a good reminder to get my shit together.

New motivator.

 

So I mentioned this wedding next month. I need a new suit. I tried on my old suit jacket (46L) which used to be super big, and now its way too tight. Measurements say I need a 50L. Partly because of new found swoleness, but mostly from fatness.

 

Don't wanna be at the wedding like...
