Tzippi Longstockings
I have a long way to go, and miles before I rest. This challenge will see me leaving my home in Japan, travelling to Kyoto, flying back to the states, visiting family and friends in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Spokane and stopping by Yosemite National Park, Portland, and Hearst Castle along the way. This will be the farthest I have ever travelled in a one-month span, the most places I’ve stayed for the shortest periods of time, and all in all a wild ride before finally getting home safe just after the six-week challenge ends. It will be tough, and the threat of losing all my good work to the massive threat of travel, American portions, and visiting family looks so ominous . . . In order to fight this threat to my world, I need to unite all four elements, to become something more than human and stronger than any of them individually. Travel is great fun, but can be confusing, so I need to stay alert: Earth – Keep building those strong bones and muscles! * BW 2x/week, with resistance bands for pull ups/rows if I don’t have easy access to a bar. If, for some reason, I get an opportunity to climb, that will more than suffice for one of these.2 = 100%1 = 60% Water – This blue gif is the closest thing I could find to swimming in this movie’s gifs. * Every morning, the three places I know I’ll have access to a pool – Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Boise. Minimum 20 minutes of “my†aqua exercise:Tread water to failure. Grab side of pool. Kick against side of pool to failure. Aqua port de bras. Repeat until it’s been at least twenty minutes. I can also swim, but with hair and stuff . . .One morning missed = 100%Two mornings missed = 80%Three mornings missed = 60%Four or more missed = 0% Air - Keep light, free, and moving. Wind blows, but Tzippi’s step count certainly doesn’t! * 77,000 steps per week, which is 11,000 steps/day. Adding 1,000 to my previous amount. On touristing days, this shouldn’t be hard, but it will also encourage more breaks during long drives to get out and move for a bit. * Hike once in each of three locations, minimum. Kyoto, Lake Biwa, Yosemite, Portland area, LA area, Spokane area, Boise area. * Hit Mt. Ishizuchi once more OR cycle Shimanami Kaido again before leaving Imabari. * Philosopher’s Walk in Kyoto. Ishizuchi.Shimanami Kaido = 10%Each Hike = 10%Each week's steps = 10% Fire – It’s waay too easy to eat crap when traveling, especially when travelling by car. * Every meal has vegetables. If there’s a reason that can’t happen, extra veggies next time. Also, one serving of leafy greens/day.I need to figure out what is a reasonable way to cut down on sugar and sweets, while still being on vacation.* Hydrate, keep track of water.* Prep car snacks – veggies and hummus, wheaty/granola-y crackers if needed for car tummy. Water and tea to drink. Stock up at Trader Joe’s/Whole Foods in bigger cities. Pack some extra water, knife, bags, and a cutting board in the car so we can stop at grocery stores as well. Leeloominaï Lekatariba Lamina-Tchaï Ekbat De Sebat – what ties all this together and makes me more than physical matter? What helps me believe the fight is worth it, when everything seems horrible? Love and faith in love.Enjoying ourselves. This one will be hard to specify, but this trip is, essentially, the bookend trip to my year-long honeymoon. My husband and I will be seeing the world, our friends and family, and spending some time together without having to either work or do too much apart from a little packing. To keep me happy, I will continue my evening routine at least six out of seven nights a week. I also hope to find a few fun surprises for Mr. Longstockings, whether gifts or views or stops and restaurants that he’d like. Evening ritual/night = 2%Special times and gifts = 16% Special Challenges/Days: August 1st and 2nd – ONMAKU Festival / our last taiko performance. August 3 – last day in our apartment Thursday August 6th – board the bus to Kyoto Tuesday, August 11th – fly from Osaka to San Francisco 5 Quote Tzippi Longstockings, level 9 Ranger/Monk Battle Log - My Fitness Pal - Quest to Find My Epic Quest - Challenges: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, The Westerosi Fitness Tour: Dorne Stormlands Vale the Reach Westerlands The Wall MamaBear Kiss Off Waterbending Rounding <<Current Link to comment

Tzippi Longstockings
I'd say I would reward myself with some JPG, but I could never afford it, and would wonder where on earth to wear it. 12:31-12:45 is what my evil Chellaxian cleric wears in Pathfinder. Tzippi Longstockings
WEEK ONE, DAY ONE!Today is an average Monday, work-wise, and then my (last?) Japanese class tonight. So today, I am going to concentrate on STEPS. I have errands to run (and purposefully left my bike at home), so I should do well, I hope. I also have some paperwork and money juggling and desk cleaning to prepare for returning to America and leaving things nice for my successor. Thanks to all that walking, I'm at 7,692 at eleven am! Shouldn't be a problem to hit goal today!Let's just keep it going . . .* * * *Okay, I have completed my Air goal for today, already at 11,473 steps as of arriving home from school. I'm also 3/4 done with Fire, having had two servings of veg over two meals (missed breakfast, had double at lunch), and wanted leafy greens. Also set my "beginning time " for my Endurance mini-challenge : 40-second plank.Apart from my language lesson, I hope to do some cooking for the week (more veggies, less stressing about food) and finish the day with my Leeloo daily goal (nighttime ritual) and my Speed, and Combat goals for the mini challenge!* * * *Finished Fire challenge with a big helping of protein veggie curry, with both spinach AND bok choy, another helping of greens!Air finished with a strong 14,545 steps! And I did 5 minutes of (Combat Challenge) Crow Pose practice, though I'm still at the "getting to 30 seconds of that before picking up feet" phase.Speed challenge splits training is stretching - yay! And then chilling and unwinding with my night ritual (Leeloo Goal). 3 Quote Tzippi Longstockings, level 9 Ranger/Monk Battle Log - My Fitness Pal - Quest to Find My Epic Quest - Challenges: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, The Westerosi Fitness Tour: Dorne Stormlands Vale the Reach Westerlands The Wall MamaBear Kiss Off Waterbending Rounding <<Current Link to comment

Tzippi Longstockings
Oops! I misunderstood the way mini-challenges work, so I revised them. This week is COMBAT WEEK, which for me is working on Crow Pose, every day. http://www.shape.com/blogs/working-it-out/step-step-breakdown-crow-pose Watching all this, I also see part of what I'm doing, if not wrong, at least more challengingly than I need. I've been really splaying my knees out, rather than laying them right on top of my arms, shins to triceps. 1 Quote Tzippi Longstockings, level 9 Ranger/Monk Battle Log - My Fitness Pal - Quest to Find My Epic Quest - Challenges: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, The Westerosi Fitness Tour: Dorne Stormlands Vale the Reach Westerlands The Wall MamaBear Kiss Off Waterbending Rounding <<Current Link to comment
Tzippi Longstockings
WEEK ONE, DAY TWO!Started off the day sleeping in, due to lateish night, but still did my 45-second plank and 5 minutes of Bakasana/Kakasana training. Already at 6,728 steps by 11:20, from a quick visit to the post office. Shouldn't be a problem to hit 11,000 counting walking to and from tonight's Enkai (work banquet) at the yakitori place (they do a special yakiyasai [grilled vegetables] for me which is amazing.)Eating pretty well. Apples are really helping with sweet taste, high fiber, and satiety. I just can't wait to get back to the States, where they aren't so expensive. In unrelated news, Having Leeloo looking wondrous and hopeful as my avatar is really coloring my perspective on everything right now. I wouldn't have thought it, but seeing that happy face beside everything I type is making me feel different. So if you feel in a rut, try changing your avatar!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4dY52NiYvUOnce again, leaves for lunch, and a double portion (probably triple, to be honest) of veggies for dinner. Step count after it all? 15,163!I still need to get my BW in this week, which may be hard, but so far, Air and Fire are mine to control [Korra represent!] and my mini-challenge is going well too. 3 Quote Tzippi Longstockings, level 9 Ranger/Monk Battle Log - My Fitness Pal - Quest to Find My Epic Quest - Challenges: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, The Westerosi Fitness Tour: Dorne Stormlands Vale the Reach Westerlands The Wall MamaBear Kiss Off Waterbending Rounding <<Current Link to comment
