cepopaladin's journey to badassery

Hello all! 

 

I just joined up a few days ago and will be taking part in the next 6 Week Challenge (cepopaladin heeds the call of badassery). Check my challenge post for more info.

 

This battle log is mostly for accountability and motivation (because nothing is more motivating than a thing called a "Battle Log"  :encouragement: ).

 

So... here's my first entry:

 

 

2015-07-22

Running: 4.4 miles @ 9:21 / mile

This is a pretty good time for me. I generally hover just under 10 minutes, but today, not sure if it was switching from podcasts to the epic beats of Fellowship of the Ring or joining the rebellion, I felt really motivated and took zero breaks (I usually rest after the big hills).

*Another note, as I expected 'The Bridge of Khazad Dum' & 'Amon Hen' were the best tracks for running. 'Concerning Hobbits' really only works (for me at least) while walking.

 

Stretching: 15 minutes after my run

 

GMB Elements: Week 1: Day 3

Easy stuff on this program thus far, mostly movement and stretching. They seem to be just laying the foundation and providing information at this point.

Yay! It's backlog time!

 

2015-07-23

My bravery was stupendous. I tend towards shy embarrassment, but today I awoke at 5:45am to badassery's siren call. Out of my apartment at 6am, I completed the following awesomeness:

 

Running: 1/2 mile warm-up jog

 

Body-weight: A unorganized sequence of body-weight exercises in the park before losing my spot to an adorable elderly Chinese couple doing their morning Tai Chi

  • box jumps
  • lunges
  • inclined push-ups
  • dips

Sprints: 3 sprints around the park (about 10-15 seconds a piece)

15 minutes of stretching at home

 

GMB Elements: Week 1: Day 4

 

I also discovered (or curated?) a delicious, probably not paleo, smoothie composed of the following:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 big Chinese market carrot
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • 1 scoop vegan protein powder (plant powered ftw!)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • water + ice to fill

It was delicious.

 

2015-07-24

Running: 4.4 miles @ 9:45 / mile

Another running day. Time not so good today because my quads were all kinds of tired. But... I didn't stop once.  :redface:

 

Stretching: 15 minutes after morning run

 

GMB Elements: Week 1: Day 5

 

2015-07-25

Body-weight: 4 rounds of

  • 10 kick-thrus
  • 10 mountain climbers
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 push-ups
  • 30 second plank
  • 10 assisted pull-ups

+ Bonus round of 100 mason twists

 

GMB Elements: Week 1: Day 6

Yay! I finished the first week! Though it was really easy. I'm kinda hoping it ramps up a bit.

2015-07-27


 


Another morning park workout. This time a friendly, eager Chinese man started doing box jumps with me. My shyness prohibited me from trying some of my Chinese on him as his English was limited. Nice interaction though. If I see him tomorrow I'll give it a whirl.


Body-weight: 4 rounds of:


  • 10 inclined push-ups
  • 10 dips
  • 20 lunges
  • 10 box jumps
  • 10 kick thrus

+ Bonus round of 100 mason twists

I'm getting crazy shin splints from the frogger movement. I emailed GMB... hopefully they can help out.
