Bast
Bast simplifies and regains her focus... Well, I survived my first 6WC with the Assassin's Guild. It was quite the experience...I still feel a bit overwhelmed!! I learned a few things that I will be applying to this 6WC. Of course some will be carry overs from previous 6WCs that either still apply or simply works well for me. This round will be much simpler, though. My biggest issue during the last 6WC, I discovered, was how much time I was spending just trying to keep up on the posts of others as well as my own, and that I wasn't very good at doing my updates. So this time, there is no theme...for a few reasons, actually...Mainly because I can't really think of something that fits my primary goals/situation this time around. Also because I don't have "google-fu" as Starsapart calls it...I was spending so much time trying to find appropriate gifs and pics that other areas suffered. I'm hoping that I will be able to find that balance between doing and posting. Luckily for me, I always create a spreadsheet and print to fill in each day and then tally it all up at the end of the week. Epic Quest: Defeat my Mortal Enemy... It may be a new challenge, but an Epic Quest is just that...one for the long haul. So as I've stated before, this may seem like an impossibility, but my ultimate goal is to have my Fibromyalgia in total remission!! Since there is no cure and they still don't know everything about the condition, this may seem like a rather lofty and far-fetched goal. But to me, not so much...if it takes my entire life to reach this goal, so be it! I remember that 7 years ago, my doctor was ready to prescribe me a wheelchair, which mortified me! But I worked hard and didn't give up...and this past January, I was able to walk a 5K with no pain during or after!! Since completing my first 6WC, I have had even more improvement. Yes, I still have bad days, but just knowing that the baby steps I take every day get me one step closer to remission and one step farther away from the pain is very inspiring and motivating to me and gives me hope! Main Quest: Inch loss vs. weight loss... It's still Summer, and the weather will be sweltering for another couple of months here in Japan, so once again, my Main Goal is to loose inches...specifically around my midsection...12 of them, to be exact...2 inches lost per week doesn't seem too unreasonable! I didn't do as well as I would have liked last time, so here's to refocusing on this goal... Grading:1 point = 1 inch lost 2+ points possible per week --> 12+ possible total Reward: +2 CHA Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Ribs - 31" Waist - 31" Belly - 36" Quest 1: Do Something, anything, to remain active... In order to achieve both my Main Goal, and ultimately, my Epic Goal, I need to remain active!! But there are soooo many different things to do / choose from at this time of year...and many cost efficient!! Two challenges ago, I discovered the fun of the Nerd Fitness Playground Workouts (FREE!), and was already doing Yoga at home (FREE!). I did some research at the end of that challenge that I used during this last challenge...a Nature Trail (FREE!) and many group classes (several FREE, others for a fee with first lesson FREE). I have already been using the Outdoor Pool (FREE!), as well as doing the Bon O'Dori dance classes (FREE!) and performances; however, those will be ending before the end of this 6WC. During this last challenge, while exploring the "Marauder's Map" for "Nerdworts", I discovered an obstacle course (FREE!) off base. I was also able to join a "Sportsmans Club" on a neighboring base, so I can start shooting archery again! Not to mention vacationing that can include activity... I am also including a bonus point for having a cumulative 15 miles on the pedometer for the week...this will encourage me to take the stairs and park on the far side of the lot when shopping. Grading:1 point = each activity (dance class, NFPW, swim, nature trail, yoga, class, archery, obstacle course, etc.) <4x / week>1 point = each weekend activity <1x / week>1 point = bonus for 15 miles pedometer cumulative for the week5+ points possible per week --> 30+ possible total Reward: +2 STR, +2 DEX, +1 STA Quest 2: Eat what we have... With the Summer Season in full swing, it's easy for the garden to get a bit out of hand! So this one's partially a repeat of last 6WC...it incorporates labor (activity), diet and organization...I need to be sure the garden doesn't completely explode on me and turn into a forest of veggies and to eat what's harvested...I don't want to waste the nummas or loose them to rot or thieves (pests)...However, if I eat faster than the garden can be harvested, then there won't be a penalty. Farmer's Market purchases can be substituted, so basically, it needs to be fresh local produce, preferably from my garden. It needs to be part of the regular menu, as a side dish or major part of a meal...points awarded for the dish, not number of harvested (i.e. garden salad uses lettuce, tomatoes, onions, carrots, radishes, etc...but only gets 1 point for the dish NOT 1 point each fresh ingredient...1 point vs. 5 points). So here comes the organization part...I've stocked up on pantry and freezer items, as well as "inherited" a lot from friends who have PCS'd (military move/relocation). Many things cannot be packed and shipped, so often it's "gifted" to those who are staying behind. I need to work on cooking based on what I have, which will mean doing some recipe research or getting creative with our meals. This will also cut some of our grocery expenses...I'm going to attempt to only buy "incidentals"...those things we use everyday (milk, cheese, TP, soap, etc). Since I also need to get better at creating my meal plan and sticking to it, this will help me in both cases! Grading:1 point = each session of garden work <5x / week>1 point = each fresh local produce dish <5x / week>1 point = each meal utilizing current pantry or freezer inventory <5x / week>15+ points possible per week --> 90+ possible total Reward: +1 STA, +1 CON, +1 WIS Quest 3: Give my body time to rest, relax and repair... I need to be sure to take some time to rest and recover from everything! The body needs plenty of good quality sleep, 8 hours on average, to heal and repair itself. Part of having Fibro is dealing with sleep issues, so the body isn't able to heal and repair itself properly, which adds to the other Fibro issues like pain and fatigue. So in order to better my chances of getting plenty of quality sleep, I'm going to take time for myself to help my body recover. I'm going to take some time to relax and wind down from the day...maybe watch a show with the family, perhaps some reading (that's not work related), or even some pampering (like soaking in a warm bath) before I go to bed. Also I need to take some time to quiet my mind and get the day's thought clutter out of my head...meditation is always good for that! However, it's all going to hinge on getting at least 8 hours of that quality sleep!! Many things can thwart getting good quality sleep...most of which are beyond my control...so I'm not going to penalize myself for those. What I can do is ensure that I go to bed early enough so as to get 8 hours of sleep before it's time for the alarm, so that is what gets the point! As a surprise, my hubby and friends "cat-napped" me and took me to an Onsen last week!! It was amazing and close to the base. I was able to get a free membership. So I'm going to give myself a "pampering bonus"...if I do something to pamper myself at home (hair treatment, facial, mani/pedi) or if I go to the Onsen, I get a bonus point for that week! Grading:1 point = each relaxing evening <5x / week>1 point = each mind clearing evening <5x / week>1 point = each 8 hours ensured bedtime <5x / week>1 point = bonus for pampering myself15+ points possible per week --> 90+ possible total Reward: +1 CON, +1 CHA Main Life Quest: Learn to Control CHAOS... According to Flylady and the Slob Sisters, CHAOS means Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome...it is the state of living in a cluttered and messy house. So this one is a repeat of challenges past...our house is still rather cluttered...we've had two PCSs, both of which were to houses that were half the size of the one before it, so we're struggling to get things in order! I need to clear out these boxes, decide what to keep, what to send to our family to be put into storage, what to sell/donate, and what is trash. I need to actively sell what we're not keeping and donate what doesn't get sold. I also need to declutter the house and get it better organized so as to utilize areas better. I also need to get back on track with the housework. As I work on cleaning our house...I can declutter as I go through the cleaning process. My goal is to do the Weekly Home Blessing so that the house is company ready, even if I'm still decluttering. I plan to resume my routines with the Flylady Zones (each area of the house is divided into 5 Zones, one for each week of the month) to do my Detail Cleaning and Daily Missions. I will also do the daily cleaning routines (swish toilet, wipe sink, laundry & dishes) to help keep the chores under control. Flylady also teaches us to do a little bit everyday so as to keep everyday messes from getting out of hand, which allows more free time and less "all day or crisis cleaning" episodes. I must strive to let go of my perfection and remember that even cleaning not done "perfectly" still blesses my family! Grading:1 point = Weekly Home Blessing completed <1x / week>1 point = Daily Zone Detail Cleaning <5x / week>1 point = Daily Zone Mission <5x / week>1 point = Daily Cleaning Routines <5x / week>1 point = each area decluttered & organized <1x / week>1 point = each box cleared <1x / week>1 point = 10 items sold or donated <1x / week>19+ points possible per week --> 114+ possible total Reward: +1 STA Life Quest 1: Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines... This one is going to be in conjunction with the Main Life Quest. First of all, I need to keep better track of my time and what I'm doing with it. I will put together a weekly and daily schedule for housework, studies, desk work, exercise, and errands. I already have most of my routines laid out, I just need to get back on track with doing them. Since I'm seeking a "desk job", I will work towards setting and maintaining a schedule that keeps 8am to 5pm open for when I do get a job. If I can take care of all my responsibilities at home before 8am and after 5pm, that will make my transition to a new job schedule much easier. This will be a transitional goal, so points will still be awarded even if adjustments need to be made to the schedule. I will also not penalize due to emergencies or unexpected circumstances which negatively affect the schedule. Grading:1 point = schedule created <1x / week>1 point = schedule maintained <5x / week>1 point = AM routines followed <5x / week>1 point = PM routines followed <5x / week>16+ points possible per week --> 96+ possible total Reward: +1 WIS Life Quest 2: Study, Study, Study... This one will be another 2-parter. I've been a bit lax regarding my studies as of late. I need to work on completing my Beginner's Herbology Course so that I can take the final and register for the Intermediate Course by the end of September. I also need to stay current on my Financial Certification by doing Continuing Education work. I'm also going to lump employment search into this one....it's kinda related...I'll have to do research and paperwork! Jobs are of high commodity around here...we are on a very small base in Japan, where we have very limited options. Off-base jobs are very rare and difficult to get due to international factors. On-base jobs often go to Japanese nationals first, then to spouses...so for every job there's over a thousand applicants!! So I'm not going to penalize myself for not getting a job by the end of this 6WC. I will just work to ensure that I do research and apply for available jobs that I meet the qualifications. Bonus points will be awarded for submitting an application and for each interview. If I actually get a job before the end of the challenge, full points will be awarded for the remainder of the challenge. Grading:1 point = each Herbology unit completed & exam passed <1x / week>1 point = all Herbology homework/projects completed per unit <1x / week>1 point = Financial Continuing Education work completed <1x / week>1 point = research job opportunities <3x / week>1 point = bonus for each application submitted1 point = bonus for each interview6+ points possible per week --> 36+ possible total Reward: +1 WIS, +1 CHA Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates... Yeah, ya'll know "Al"...I had such a blast doing the Assassin Guild Mini Challenge and "Surprise" Mini's last 6WC!! I'm really excited to see what's in store again! There are lots of opportunities for "a little bit extra"...of course, the Assassin Guild Minis, and Accountabilibuddy groups, plus supporting my friends in the Assassin's Guild and those who are just joining the Rebellion... Grading:No points here...just a do or don't based on opportunity and situation. Any additional awards are based on whatever the mini's grant and the joy that comes from helping others succeed... I'll update later with my starting stats, point allocation and personal rewards... See ya in the Challenge!! 1 Quote Bast Level 8 Assassin Goddess STR: 19 DEX: 17 STA: 18 CON: 18 WIS: 18 CHA: 19 Challenges: Current 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1/2 Battle Log PvP: Adulting & Accountability: The CutLasses Shimmy! Bast
Assassin's Mini Challenge - Starship Nerdiprise OK, so after much deliberation, and great advice from Startsapart, I'm going to bounce around a bit... Since I'm kind of a "Jill of all Trades", I'm going to rotate between three of the five teams. It will be in no particular order, just based on when I'm able to do them (basically as scheduling and weather allows). My personal goal will be to do something for each team at least once a week. Some weeks I may be able to do more than once, but that may not be so if our awesome Guild Leaders put out some cool Surprise Minis (like they always do!!). However, I will strive to have a balance between all three, so that the points will be even since I will take 1 point from each category for a cumulative 3 points at the end. Weapons and Shields (+1 STR) I do want to get stronger, especially with my pushes and pulls. My goal here is to be able to do a full pull up and push up. I'll be starting with inverted with each using the same bar. Based on my ending AMRAPS from the last Assassin's Mini Challenge, Nerdworts, I was able to do 30 of each to failure. Lets see how much I can improve... Med Bay (+1 DEX) Because of Fibro, I need to work on maintaining my flexibility. Stretching helps loosen my muscles when the Fibro makes them tight (that and a nice hot soak!) During the last 6WC, the Assassins had a Surprise Mini that incorporated splits. Starsapart posted a great flyer that showed how to properly stretch to prepare for splits and how to work on improving. I've since printed it off, and will use that as a guide to (hopefully) be able to do a full split by the end of this 6WC. Lets see how close I can get... Galley (+1 CON) Ok, well this one feeds into some of what I'm already doing... At my hubby and sister's behest, I've been taking pictures of our meals and posting them on Facebook...however, I've had many replies grousing at the fact that the posts look too good, makes people hungry, and even "threats" of being invaded and our dinner confiscated! LOL! Part of my NF 6WC Quests is to eat what I have already on hand and what is harvested in the garden. So I'll just have to start posting the pics, recipes and reviews of what I make. Lets see how many Assassins I can torment with what I'm cooking and eating... So let's get this ship in working order!!!! Bast
Week 1 Summary: Well, I got off to a bit of a slow start last week, but I was able to finish pretty strong! I know I had some trouble pulling my goals and posts together...at the end of the last challenge, I thought I'd have two weeks to figure things out...oh, well, no worries! I also had some trouble wrapping my brain around the Assassin's Mini Challenge this go around. It took some time for me to decide what I was going to do and how I would pull it off!! But everything worked out for the best! Main Quest: 3 points (out of 2)Inch loss vs. weight loss...I did pretty good here...oddly enough...at mid week, I had lost 1 1/2 #s, but by the end, I had gained that back, plus another pound!! It's been really hot, and I've been hitting the water pretty hard (drank 7 16oz glasses yesterday!!). I figure it's mostly water retention. However, I lost 3 inches!! So that's three points! Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Ribs - 31" Waist - 31" Belly - 36" Current Stats: Weight - 130 # Ribs - 30" Waist - 31" Belly - 34" Quest 1: 4 points (out of 5)Do Something, anything, to remain active...I didn't do as well here as I would have liked. Life kinda got in the way. I only accomplished 2 out of 4 of the weekday activities. However, as my weekend activity, I got to go to a Yokohama Baystars baseball game! The Japanese version of baseball is extremely active...and very vaudevillian!! Every time the team goes to the outfield, everyone jumps up and sings and claps the team's outfield song...and when they are at bat, a "conductor" stands at the bottom of the section with a whistle leading everyone in the song! Each player has his own song/chant, and when he steps up to bat, everyone sings and claps for him! It was really interesting!! I logged almost 6 miles from all the walking...to/from train stations, the stadium & home again. I did get my bonus point for logging 21.76 miles this week (16.19 not counting the ball game). So I'm only short one point for my goal of 5 per week....not too bad. Quest 2: 13 points (out of 15)Eat what we have...I came up a little bit short on this one as well. The weather has been insufferably HOT!!! I didn't get out into the garden as much as I would have liked, and the harvest is slowing a bit from the heat. However, I do have a few baby watermelons and butternut squash coming in nicely! I got full points for eating our inventory! I posted the Squid Ink Pasta and Roasted Brussels Sprouts from Monday, Sloppy Joes from Thursday and Garden Pickles from Saturday in the Starship Nerdiprise Galley. I also posted a "bonus"...a video of Maneki Neko bringing me her contribution to the family table... Quest 3: 6 points(out of 15)Give my body time to rest, relax and repair...This is one where I seriously need to work harder!! We were adjusting to some changes to my hubby's schedule. They keep changing his PT days and times, which affects out get up times. We are both suffering from our habit of staying up late, but now we don't have the luxury of sleeping in later...leftovers from when he was on nights for a year...oh well, something to work harder on!! Life Quest: Learn Controlled CHAOS...Yeah, this was pretty much a bust this week. I was working towards catching up on all my cleaning (that I am supposed to do in a month) in this one week...along with life happening... However, I do think I'm going to incorporate points for cleaning.... Life Quest 1: 5 points (out of 5)Organize our lives via Time Management and Decluttering...I did really well with this one! I didn't do as well with my time management, but I did great with my decluttering! I even got 28 items out of the house!! Life Quest 2: 3 points (out of 6)Study, Study, Study...I totally blew this one...I was so busy trying to play catch up, that I didn't take the time to study! I did do some review for Finance, but nada for Herbology. I did get to research some jobs, but deadlines/cutoffs were an issue, so no applications. Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates...on the Starship Nerdiprise!Well, I already posted my intentions on this aspect of it. I got three posts up on the Galley. No Surprise Minis this week. So this was a success! I didn't get to do all that I wanted to do, but hey, this is a do or don't, and since I did, it's a success! Next Weeks Focus: Beginnings and Endings while getting on Schedule...With a new month, comes the chance to begin again. Since I follow the Flylady model for home maintenance, the motto is to not worry about catching up, just start where you are. So I'll begin the month focusing on the Flylady's Zone 1 missions and detail cleaning, as well as resuming my Weekly Home Blessing. As for endings, next week is the last week for Bon O'Dori. The Base Bon O'Dori Festival will be on Saturday, which will be my weekend activity (since I'll be performing!). I'm hoping to get someone to video me dancing...if so, I'll post here for ya'll! I will attend the last practice on Thursday, and use the video the other days as needed to prepare for Saturday. Throughout the week, I'll be working on getting back into my routines and setting myself a work, study and exercise schedule that I can follow. I may have to make some adjustments as necessary, so hopefully by the end of the week I'll have a relatively set schedule I can live with. Since I spent last week in the Galley, I think I'll split my time between Med Bay and Weapons & Shields...I hope there'll be a Surprise Mini... So lets get ready to attack Week 2!! 1 Quote Bast Level 8 Assassin Goddess STR: 19 DEX: 17 STA: 18 CON: 18 WIS: 18 CHA: 19 Challenges: Current 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1/2 Battle Log PvP: Adulting & Accountability: The CutLasses Shimmy! Bast
Week 2 Summary: Sorry I'm a bit late with my update...this week has been a bit of a nightmare...but that's for the next update! LOL!! Week 2 didn't go half bad...Well, I got off to a bit of a slow start last week, but I was able to finish pretty strong! I revamped my Life Quests so that they are more streamlined and easier to score. I had a great time at the Bon O'Dori Festival, and even have a video for ya'll!! But first, here's a cute pic of me "teaching" a little girl who joined us as we were dancing!! Main Quest: 2 points (out of 2)Inch loss vs. weight loss...I did good this week. I not only lost the weight I gained, but dropped an extra two pounds from my starting weight! I also reached my goal of 2 inches lost for the week, giving me my 2 points. So I'm still ahead by a point! Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Week 1 Stats: Weight - 130 # Ribs - 31" Ribs - 30" Waist - 31" Waist - 31" Belly - 36" Belly - 34" Current Stats: Weight - 127 # Ribs - 30" Waist - 30" Belly - 33" Quest 1: 7 points (out of 5)Do Something, anything, to remain active...I seriously rocked this week!! I cleared all 4 weekday activities, my weekend activity, but also scored 2 bonus points!! I had logged 34.40 miles for the week!! So that not only got me caught up to where I lacked from last week, it even got me a point ahead!! And here's where it gets interesting...this week, my weekend activity was performing at the NAF Atsugi Bon O'Dori Festival on Saturday!! And here's a video of me (the short, dark haired one in the lead) doing one of the final dances!! I hope ya'll enjoy!! Quest 2: 15 points (out of 15)Eat what we have...I broke even this week. The weather is still insufferably HOT, so I didn't get out into the garden as much as I would have liked, not to mention the fact that the heat is affecting my harvest. I made up the short points by eating freshies from the farmers market and more inventory. The baby watermelons and butternut squash are still going strong! I didn't post anything in the Starship Nerdiprise Galley this week. Quest 3: 19 points(out of 15)Give my body time to rest, relax and repair...I did much better here this week!! Even made up some of the lost points from last week! I got two bonus pampering points as well...the first is from giving myself a mani/pedi in preparation for the Bon O'Dori Festival...turns out this year we were told NOT to wear our tabi socks...so I figured I'd try to make my ugly feet pretty! Also, after sleeping in and having a lazy day to recover on Sunday, I treated myself and my hubby to an evening at an Onsen with friends!! On Saturday, he ended up working at the Bon O'Dori Festival at his command's food booth from 0700 until 2200!! And I danced for over 2 hours!! We both had earned a well-deserved relaxing treat! And it was wonderful! Sorry...no cameras allowed in the Onsen, so no pics... Main Life Quest: 22 points (out of 19)Learn to Control CHAOS...Ok, so I revamped how to work this one. No the scoring and activities are laid out much better! It was easier to get back on track and stay on track! Because of my Life Quest, I followed up on Tundralily's suggestion of joining the Adulting PvP and it's helping me put all this into a better perspective...not to mention cheering each other on as we take on our Cleaning Boss Challenges! I did have a "surprise" that had me tackle one of my mini bosses this week...turns out, one of my girls (cats) had some fun in my Apothecary with climbing on a jug of distilled water that I use when working on projects. Well, needless to say, the jug got punctured, and the floor was flooded!! So I spent a whole afternoon, gutting my Apothecary, drying everything out, washing the floors and baseboards (which had gotten moldy), throwing away the saturated boxes and organizing everything! All in all, not a bad week here...and with my Apothecary boss destroyed, I can work on my herbal projects and studies with greater ease! Life Quest 1: 17 points (out of 16)Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines...I also revamped this one. I'd noticed how my schedule and routines were quite lacking. So I'm taking on the challenge of getting a set schedule laid out, more or less. So far, I'm creating a schedule day by day, but I'm having difficulty maintaining it. I started out setting the schedule at the first of the week...but quickly realized that that isn't practical...I kept having to make changes and adjustments as new information came to light or stuff happened (flood in the Apothecary ring a bell?). So now, I'm looking at it as having a more "open" schedule that I set each day. I post at the beginning of the week everything that I know about (dr's appts, meetings, scheduled activities, etc) so I can see where I can't plan something else. Then I just plan everything else for the day around what I can't change. It seems to be working, so far. I'm also trying to get back into following my morning and bedtime routines...the AMs aren't so bad...but I'm really struggling with the PMs... Life Quest 2: 2 points (out of 6)Study, Study, Study...Still totally blowing this one...I seriously need to get my daily schedule back on track so it's easier for me to take the time to study! I only worked on Herbology this week...I didn't touch Finance or research jobs... Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates...on the Starship Nerdiprise!I got a start on my work in Med Bay...did a couple of split stretch routines and posted my beginning photos. I also revamped my plans for Weapons/Shields...I'm doing a modified NF Playground workout...one a bit more difficult that I've done before. As a start, I was only able to get one circuit done (without breaks) before I started getting wiped and loosing form. I was able to get up to 2 full circuits this week!! I didn't post anything in the Galley. And while I was in Med Bay, we had some Trouble with Tribbles!! I got 70 push ups for Med Bay to help clear them out!! My original intention was to do Weapons/Shields, Med Bay and Galley each once per week and split the stats. So far, I'm on ahead in the Galley (3 for 2) and behind in Weapons/Shields (1 for 2) and Med Bay (1 for 2). But I'm going to have to take the necessary action to even things out next week so I'm back on track! This week was still a success because I worked in both Weapons/Shields and in Med Bay AND took on some Tribbles!! Next Week's Focus: It's not time to quit...With Bon O'Dori over, it's true I have one less activity in my arsenal. However, it doesn't mean that I can use that as an excuse to get lazy...it just gives me a new chance to do something else!! Also, with all this terrible heat, I need to take a new look at my activities. In a news article and video from Weather Channel last Friday, they expressed warnings regarding the current record heat wave that had resulted in 55 deaths in our area! So I need to find ways to work in the garden as well as do my workouts with falling victim to the heat, since currently, all of my planned activities are outside! I need to take the necessary steps to get my schedule under control and actually DO my routines! I also need to step up my efforts to study and find a job. I can't pass if I don't study and I can't get employed if I don't research and apply for jobs! Next week is Week 3, which is often the most difficult...the newness has worn off, and we may be stagnating in our activities, routines and/or efforts. So it's time to get creative and keep going strong!! Let's take on Week 3!! 2 Quote Bast Level 8 Assassin Goddess STR: 19 DEX: 17 STA: 18 CON: 18 WIS: 18 CHA: 19 Challenges: Current 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1/2 Battle Log PvP: Adulting & Accountability: The CutLasses Shimmy! Bast
Week 3 Summary: Well, this week I'm on time with my progress, but last week wasn't much to sneeze at...pun intended...I was sick...alot...blarg!!! Week 3 didn't go at all as I had planned...I thought I was starting strong, but then I had to get the first of my Japanese Encephalitis vaccine (the second one will be at the end of this 6WC) at the end of the day Monday, and then it went down hill from there!! I was sore and tired after the vaccine, then the next day I was down for the count by lunchtime! I felt better on Wednesday, just kinda fatigued and sluggish (and my arm was still sore). And I got up feeling great on Thursday...until my husband got a hold of me...he volunteered me to help him and his command with a community clean up...at 0530...in the rain... Needless to say, it was another downhill slide!! I felt rough the rest of the day and then spent all of Friday on the couch...again! On the bright side, although he's been battling a Summer chest cold, I've been able to avoid catching it from him! And to make matters more complicated, we had a kitten in our house from Wednesday until Sunday, which had everyone in our household (especially my three girls <cats>) in an uproar... Main Quest: 1 points (out of 2)Inch loss vs. weight loss...I didn't do as bad I thought I would this week. I pretty much maintained, despite being sick. I did end up dropping 1 inch around my ribs, which isn't bad...it puts me at an even 6 inches lost so far...which is right on target for this point in the 6WC! I am hoping to get more inches off during Week 4 now that I'm well enough to be active...Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Week 1 Stats: Weight - 130 # Week 2 Stats: Weight - 127 # Ribs - 31" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 30" Waist - 31" Waist - 31" Waist - 30" Belly - 36" Belly - 34" Belly - 33" Current Stats: Weight - 127 # Ribs - 29" Waist - 30" Belly - 33" Quest 1: 5 points (out of 5)Do Something, anything, to remain active...I was lucky enough to break even here as well... I was at least able to get 3 weekday activities, and my weekend activity (Pool Party). I was barely able to get my mileage bonus point (15.44 miles), which allowed me to break even. Nothing nearly as fun or exciting as last week... Quest 2: 7 points (out of 15)Eat what we have...I totally bombed this one...being sick, I didn't have it in me to do a whole lot in the garden...I did get one session in, though. The heat is starting to break, so hopefully I'll be able to make this up during Week 4... Not making it to the Farmers Market (or harvesting) had me falling short on eating much produce, as well. I did put a dent in my inventory with all the broths and soups I ate, along with teas and basically grazing! I'm planning on making up for last week by getting some freshies and doing some harvesting! Turns out, what I thought were baby watermelons might actually be cantaloupes! They outside were dark green, but now they are getting the beige "netting" you find on cantaloupe. I have about 5 good, strong butternut squash that are getting bigger by the day! I didn't post anything in the Starship Nerdiprise Galley this week, but maybe I should have posted the broth I made...oh well, I plan to post something this week. Quest 3: 18 points(out of 15)Give my body time to rest, relax and repair...I did much better here this week!! I didn't count "naps" and "resting" while I was sick, only my bedtime wind downs and going to bed 8 hours before needing to get up. Although I was nice to myself and didn't over exert myself while I was sick, I didn't count that as "pampering". I guess technically, I could have counted resting and "letting myself be sick" as pampering, considering I tend to be stubborn about not admitting that I'm sick and acting like I'm fine... However, I'm striving for standing in my truth. Main Life Quest: 7 points (out of 19)Learn to Control CHAOS...Ok, so I so I totally bombed this one as well... I did get my Weekly Home Blessing done on Monday, along with my missions and zone cleanings, before I got my vaccine...and I got a few things done on Tuesday before it really hit me...but not much after that. I was able to do a little bit over the weekend, but not as much as I would have liked. I did get a box cleared and it's ready to be shipped home. Technically, I sold a few things, but I'm not counting that yet since the buyer has yet to pay me and pick up the stuff (she said she'd come on Sunday, but then canceled). It'll count when it's out of the house... I am planning on doubling up on this weeks Zones and Missions...Zone 3 is usually pretty light, so I can tag team between Zones 2 & 3 to get caught up... Life Quest 1: 17 points (out of 16)Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines...As everyone knows, schedules tend to go out the window during times of illness, and this week was no exception! I was able to follow my AM Routines pretty good, but I kept having to revamp the schedule to fit...and still didn't to good at maintaining it... I did revisit my planned schedule on Sunday, and organized Week 4 to reflect my strengths to hopefully be more successful...I've noticed that I tend to be more energetic in the mornings, and by lunchtime (especially after lunch) I'm a bit more fatigued (thanks, Fibro!). So now I have my active chores (like cleaning and garden tasks) and fitness activities plotted to do before lunch and my studying after lunch. I'm incorporating last week's changes by putting in the set schedules that I can't change (appts, meetings, etc.) first, then adding my set routines (get up time, AM routine time, dinner & prep, PM routine time & bedtime). The morning between AM routine and lunch (not counting any appts) is open for active chores and desk time. The afternoon between lunch and prepping dinner (not counting any appts) is also open for study and desk time. I will continue to adjust daily as needed, but hopefully, this will be a method that will be more effective long term. Life Quest 2: 2 points (out of 6)Study, Study, Study...This is where I really rocked...at least in the Herbology department!! I did a few Herbology projects on Monday, to treat Rowe's illness. While being sick, I got through 2 units of Herbology and aced both exams on the first try!! Actually, it's pretty strict, exams must have a perfect 100% score before you can advance to the next unit...but you can take it as many times as it takes. I even did the projects on the days I was feeling better. I only worked on Herbology this week...I didn't touch Finance or research jobs...although I did read my newest Outdoor Photography and Country Life magazines... I'm hopeful that my schedule epiphany will help me be more on track during Week 4... Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates...on the Starship Nerdiprise!Well, obviously, I didn't do as well as I had planned...I increased my PRs in Weapons/Shields, but illness struck. Ironically, once again, when I was in Med Bay (ha ha, I was sick, ya know!), trouble struck again...this time, as an appearance by Q...so on top of getting 4 inches closer to full splits (straddle and scissor), I did 70 high knees to send Q packing... But soon after, I hit my second round of illness this week and didn't get back to working on the Starship Nerdiprise... I'm still following my original intention of doing Weapons/Shields, Med Bay and Galley each once per week and split the stats. Now, at the mid point, I'm even in the Galley (3 for 3) and behind in Weapons/Shields (2 for 3) and Med Bay (2 for 3). So in Week 4, I plan to do two rounds in both Weapons/Sheilds and MedBay and one round in the Galley. If I'm successful, I'll be back on track... I am still counting this week as a success because I worked in both Weapons/Shields and in Med Bay AND shot down Q!! Next Week's Focus: Steps forward, steps back and steps forward again isn't failure - it's more like a Cha Cha...It's not my fault I got sick...I must remember that and not punish or berate myself or consider myself a failure. It was a setback, yes, but it's not the end of me. I woke up this morning...that means I'm not dead yet, so with every morning that I awaken, I am granted another opportunity to work through my challenges towards my greater goals! In Week 4, I'm going to do my best to keep moving forward, even if it's in baby steps, to finish strong this week! I will work towards making up what I missed last week, and if I don't get it all done, that's OK, just as long as I tried! My Week 3 challenge wasn't stagnation, it was illness, so I'm going to work hard to be sure that my Week 4 doesn't fall prey to stagnation. But I must also be diligent to not over do it trying to catch up from Week 3's set back. I will remember to be nice to me, to rest when I need it and to take things one baby step at a time... Bring it on, Week 4!! 1 Quote Bast Level 8 Assassin Goddess STR: 19 DEX: 17 STA: 18 CON: 18 WIS: 18 CHA: 19 Challenges: Current 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1/2 Battle Log PvP: Adulting & Accountability: The CutLasses Shimmy! Bast
Week 4 Summary:I know that this is the start of Week 6...Week 4 didn't get a timely update (nor did Week 5) due to severe internet connectivity issues. Week 4 was the beginning of my downward spiral into technological futility!! Our base's cable and internet provider has been going through some changes as of late...the changes are for the good because the service provided will be much better...but there have been a lot of growing pains annoying all!! Earlier this year, the entire base got rewired (from provider hub to houses), so everyone had periods of sluggish to no service. Later they worked on expanding the bandwidth to all. A couple of months ago the trials started. This month was the start of regulating bandwidth consumption. And that when our serious problems started. At the end of Week 3, I got a notice that we had used over 400 GB in a three day period...OUCH!! However, we were doing nothing different from July, where we only used 77GB for the entire month! So thus started the investigation. During week 4, usage went to a crawl, our internet was constantly blinking on and off (thus no updates). When I was able to get on, I worked on checking the absolute have to's first, then working on catch ups until I got kicked off again. During the weekend, we were "babysitting" 2 preteens and a 10 yo while their parents went on a trip, so we disconnected the internet completely (unplugged the modem from the connectors and power). When we tried to reconnect when the kids went home, the modem kept rebooting and never connected to the internet. So I put in a service call...and they replaced the wire from the wall to the modem (which the worker dropped twice while working on it). I'll go into the further developments from Week 5 in that summary. As for me, despite the technological issues, I did a pretty good job of getting back on track and even got a few things caught up! Main Quest: 0 points (out of 2)Inch loss vs. weight loss...I didn't do as good as I had hoped I would this week. I figured that now that I'm not sick, I might go back to dropping, but I just maintained. I did gain a pound, though...but not any inches. Oh, well...I guess my body is still in recovery mode. So I'm still at 6 inches lost so far...which is only 2 inches behind for this point in the 6WC! I am hoping to get more inches off during Week 5...Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Week 1 Stats: Weight - 130 # Week 2 Stats: Weight - 127 # Week 3 Stats: Weight - 127 # Ribs - 31" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 29" Waist - 31" Waist - 31" Waist - 30" Waist - 30" Belly - 36" Belly - 34" Belly - 33" Belly - 33" Current Stats: Weight - 128 # Ribs - 29" Waist - 30" Belly - 33" Quest 1: 5 points (out of 5)Do Something, anything, to remain active...I broke even here this week. I did my 4 weekday activities, but didn't get a weekend one...I had figured we could do something with the kids, but they just wanted to stay in and vegg in front of the TV...and my hubby had a couple of unexpected duty shifts, so it was just me and the kids. I guess it was a good thing that I got my mileage bonus point (18.94 miles), which allowed me to break even. Nothing really all that fun or exciting this week...nor planned for next... Quest 2: 17 points (out of 15)Eat what we have...I totally ROCKED this one, despite some stormy weather!! I only got 3 garden sessions in (too much rain...and another typhoon), basically doing what I can when it isn't raining. The weather is staying a bit cooler, so looking forward to Autumn... Got some great deals at the Farmers Market (not as much to harvest), so did good eating produce. However, I've been having issues with some 'mater-sucking giant beetles!! They keep sucking my cherry tomatoes hollow as soon as they got ripe!! So I had to harvest very quickly and ended up with quite a surplus of cherry (red and yellow) tomatoes!! I used them in the Starship Nerdiprise Mini Challege Ambassador's Dinner for Med Bay. I made Napoleon Crab Salad and Shrimp with Tomato Wine Sauce, Corn Cakes & Lime Crema for Hubby's and my "date nite" dinner before the kids came over on Friday. Quest 3: 14 points(out of 15)Give my body time to rest, relax and repair...Although I fell one point short this week, I did well. I did have some sleep issues, but I don't count that as long as I go to bed 8 hours before I have to be up. So all in all, not too bad! I only did one pampering session...I basically was worn out from the kids being here (I heard every giggle and whisper ALL NIGHT LONG!!!), so I had a nice long bubble bath and went to bed early on Sunday! LOL!! Main Life Quest: 17 points (out of 19)Learn to Control CHAOS...Well, at least I didn't bomb this one...I tried to do some catching up, but wasn't as successful as I would have liked. I got my WHB and most all of the Zone 3 stuff done, but barely got much of the Zone 2 catch ups done. I was even able to get an extra point from selling some stuff! Now I have the cash to ship a box home! I had a rough end of the week in this area...remember how I mentioned earlier that some kids were staying with us? Well, kids are kids...one had an accident on our couch, rendering us to have to wash two of the cushions, a pillow, a throw blanket and his clothes...I'm just glad it didn't seep into the the frame lining (under the cushions) or to the floor below...and with all the "spillage" from drinks and food, our living room was overrun with ants!! So after they left, I spent I big chunk of the day Sunday wiping off all the sticky (from the coffee table and floor) and waging war on the ants!! The whole time, I kept singing a song...ya'll know the Theme to the Pink Panther, right? Dead AntDead AntDead Ant Dead Ant Dead Ant Dead Ant Dead Annnnt.... Next week is the end of the month, so last chance for any "catch ups" before my system "reboots" (pardon the pun) for the new month. I'm hoping to crank more out then... Life Quest 1: 20 points (out of 16)Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines...I am so proud of myself for staying on track this week!! I applied my insights from Week 3 and they really paid off!! I did have to make occasional adjustments, but that wasn't all that bad! It worked out pretty good! AND as a bonus, I was able to keep up my AM and PM Routines over the weekend...which really helped out with a house full of kids!! Now if I can just keep it up and establish the new good habits!! Life Quest 2: 1 points (out of 6)Study, Study, Study...This is where the internet issues really really hurt me...I couldn't to much of anything, since all my class work for Herbology and options for job searches is online...but I'm not going to penalize myself for this. The internet issues were beyond my control! Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates...on the Starship Nerdiprise!OK, between internet issues and visiting dignitaries on the Starship Nerdiprise thwarted the posting of my efforts!! Luckily, during brief periods of internet, I was able to contribute for Med Bay two menu items for the Ambassadors' Dinner... Napoleon Crab Salad and Shrimp with Tomato Wine Sauce, Corn Cakes & Lime Crema. I'm hoping the internet will be secured enough next week so I can post my progress... Next Week's Focus: Technology is great an all - but why does it have do be such a damned pain in the assets?!?...This week was a reminder to me that I can't control everything...and that's OK. It reminded me of simpler times when there wasn't any internet, and Atari was state of the art!! I also get to remind myself that it's not always my fault when hiccups in my plans occur...I must remember that and not punish or berate myself or consider myself a failure when things beyond my control throw proverbial wenches in the works. These can be setbacks, yes, but it's not the end of the world. Like I said last week, "I woke up this morning...that means I'm not dead yet, so with every morning that I awaken, I am granted another opportunity to work through my challenges towards my greater goals!" Now I just get to be creative in working through things when technology doesn't cooperate! In Week 5, the issues with the internet won't be over, and I have no idea how long they will last... So I'm going to do my best to keep moving forward, even if it's in baby steps, to finish strong this week! I will work towards making up what I missed last week, and if I don't get it all done, that's OK, just as long as I tried! My Week 4 challenge wasn't that I was loosing steam, it was technical difficulties, so I'm going to work hard to be sure that my Week 5 doesn't fall prey to frustration, even if the evils of technology rear it's ugly head! Bast
Week 5 Summary: OK, so now I'm finally able to put up my Week 5 update...sorry for the delay...it took them long enough, but they FINALLY discovered the issues with our connectivity...old and bad wiring!! So during Week 5, we still were without internet, but they were at least working on it! They had to totally rewire our house...replacing ALL the wiring and connectors and EVERYTHING from the street to the computer!! They even gave us a new modem! The final test was on Monday of Week 6...and all is finally well! They set up the new faster bandwidth and rebooted our account, so we started with a new clean slate. So now we can properly monitor our usage and hopefully not go over 450 GB for the month of September! As for me, despite the technological issues, I still did a pretty good job...I didn't do as well as I would have liked in a few areas, but life happens. Main Quest: -3 points (out of 2)Inch loss vs. weight loss...Technically, I did HORRIBLE this week...however, this was beyond my control. My cycle started and I guess I was retaining water or was at least bloated, because I didn't gain any weight (I actually lost half a pound!) and both my diet and activity were spot on...so I'm not going to penalize myself for this. I can't control how my body reacts to monthly hormonal surges, so it isn't fair to myself to chastise for things I can't control. It would have been different if I had been a lazy slug, laying on the couch eating junk food. But since that was not the case, I think I'm alright. I'll probably drop those inches in Week 6, and hopefully a few more! Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Week 1 Stats: Weight - 130 # Week 2 Stats: Weight - 127 # Week 3 Stats: Weight - 127 # Week 4 Stats: Weight - 128 # Ribs - 31" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 29" Ribs - 29" Waist - 31" Waist - 31" Waist - 30" Waist - 30" Waist - 30" Belly - 36" Belly - 34" Belly - 33" Belly - 33" Belly - 33" Current Stats: Weight - 127.5 # Ribs - 30" Waist - 31" Belly - 34" Quest 1: 6 points (out of 5)Do Something, anything, to remain active...I did good this week! I did my 4 weekday activities, and rode bikes with my hubby to the market and partway around the flight line on Sunday, AND got my bonus with 20.83 miles of "extra"! Quest 2: 20 points (out of 15)Eat what we have...This one came a bit easier...not as much rain, so did get some garden sessions in...however, it was mostly cleaning up end of summer spent vegetation. Got some more great deals at the Farmers Market (not as much to harvest), so did good eating produce. This was my last week working on inventory, though. Hubby got his 10-week notice for his PRT, so I started his metabolism reboot diet on Saturday. So for about 28 days, I'm doing this with him to support his efforts. Luckily it will allow lots of produce, but not much for clearing out the pantry "extras". That will have to be put on hold until the end of September. Quest 3: 20 points(out of 15)Give my body time to rest, relax and repair...I did very well staying on track with getting a good night's rest this week...and even got in three pampering sessions! Yay! It's amazing how much better I feel and more energized when I get proper rest the night before! Main Life Quest: 28 points (out of 19)Learn to Control CHAOS...This week I did AWESOME!! With not having internet, I was able to spend more time working on the house. I got lots of decluttering done, especially in my office!! With my hubby's help, I hung decorative shelves to put my piggy bank collection up (it's amazing how many piggy banks I've unintentionally collected since becoming a financial counselor!) and finally have a clear desk top...it turns out, it's made of actual wood, not paper! LOL!!! Next week is the beginning of the month, so I'll get to start out fresh and get ready for a new season! Life Quest 1: 16 points (out of 16)Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines...I was a little bad about creating and maintaining a schedule this week...mostly because I had workers in and out an random times based on their schedule and availability...you know how it goes, they say the worker will be there to do the work between 8am and 10am and he shows up at 9:55 and stays until noon...but that's OK, at least my internet is back up, right? So rather than a schedule, I pretty much worked of of check lists to still get things accomplished! I've been doing good with my morning routines, but this time I was able to keep on top of my evening (before bed) routines! So I was able to break even, despite my schedule going to the proverbial dogs! LOL! Life Quest 2: 0 points (out of 6)Study, Study, Study...Once again, this is where the internet issues really really hurt me...I didn't get to do anything this week! But it's understandable and out of my control, so no penalties. Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates...on the Starship Nerdiprise!Once again, due to internet issues, nothing got posted or updated for the Starship Nerdiprise...however, when I was able to check, the dignitaries were still dining, so all work was still on hold and no new surprise minis were posted. I still continued to do stuff on my own, I just couldn't post anything. Next Week's Focus: Technology is great an all - but why does it have do be such a damned pain in the assets?!?...Once again, my perfectionism and control issues were challenged this week. I'm proud to say that I was able to roll with the proverbial punches and still did well. Next week is the final one in this 6WC, and I plan to work hard to finish strong! I know I'm going to have to be creative to try to catch up where I'm lacking, both with the Rebellion and in my regular life (lack of internet affects so much these days!), in order to have a great start to the month and entering into this new season. Let's finish strong in Week 6!! 1 Quote Bast Level 8 Assassin Goddess STR: 19 DEX: 17 STA: 18 CON: 18 WIS: 18 CHA: 19 Challenges: Current 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 1/2 Battle Log PvP: Adulting & Accountability: The CutLasses Shimmy! Bast
Week 6 Summary: Well, it's finally over...and I survived!! This week was kinda rough...with our internet FINALLY being up and staying up, there was lots of playing catch up online with emails, forums and studies. I did pretty good, not perfect, but who want's to be perfect? Main Quest: 6 points (out of 2)Inch loss vs. weight loss...Well, as predicted, I finished my cycle and not only dropped the 3" I gained in Week 5, but lost an additional 3" AND 2 pounds!!! Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Week 1 Stats: Weight - 130 # Week 2 Stats: Weight - 127 # Week 3 Stats: Weight - 127 # Week 4 Stats: Weight - 128 # Week 4 Stats: Weight - 127.5 # Ribs - 31" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 30" Ribs - 29" Ribs - 29" Ribs - 30" Waist - 31" Waist - 31" Waist - 30" Waist - 30" Waist - 30" Waist - 31" Belly - 36" Belly - 34" Belly - 33" Belly - 33" Belly - 33" Belly - 34" Current Stats: Weight - 125.5 # Ribs - 28" Waist - 29" Belly - 32" Quest 1: 6 points (out of 5)Do Something, anything, to remain active...Yeah, same points as last week, however a few differences. I only got 3 of my weekday activities, but got in 2 weekend ones. On Saturday, I rode my bike to the Commissary and back...and I realized I need to get better at my balance when carrying a load in my basket...I wobbled alot!! On Sunday, I went to the range at Camp Zama to shoot Archery...and not only did I do that, I got signed off as the Safety Marshal and did some instruction for some brand new archers! I didn't realize how much I had missed it until I was actually there doing it! And for my bonus point, I tracked 27.1 miles for the week...not bad of a finish, eh?!? Quest 2: 21 points (out of 15)Eat what we have...This was above and beyond...we got a little break in the rain, so I was able to cut down all my spent corn stalks and let them dry out a bit, then set them up on the front porch for Autumnal decor. I also got another garden session in to cut back the last of the squash vines, pull all the greens that bolted and prep the area for the Autumn planting. Didn't get to touch the inventory, but still cranked out the produce with my hubby's metabolism reboot diet. Quest 3: 21 points(out of 15)Give my body time to rest, relax and repair...I didn't do any pampering this week, I guess I was working too hard trying to get caught up on everything. However, I did maintain a good sleep schedule, complete with relaxing, meditating and 8 hours of rest every day, or night, rather!! Yay me!! I guess I'm finally getting this to be a habit! Main Life Quest: 19 points (out of 19)Learn to Control CHAOS...With it being a new week in a new month, I was spot on! I did my Weekly Home Blessing, all my Missions, Dailies and Details and even got in a bit of extra decluttering! Now if I can just keep it up! This month is a transitional one...I do certain seasonal cleanings (like washing all the curtains and windows) and decorating (cleaning and packing up Summer, unpacking and decorating for Autumn). So staying on top of the dailies will be the challenge! Life Quest 1: 23 points (out of 16)Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines...I did much better this week with setting and maintaining my schedule...I guess that was why I was able to get so much accomplished to finish strong! The improvement on my AM and PM routines is amazing! I've noticed that my day goes much better when I remember to do these little things! Life Quest 2: 6 points (out of 6)Study, Study, Study...Now that the internet was back up, I was able to do a bit of catching up here. I got one Unit in Herbology done, and several projects. I made a batch of Cold and Flu Elixir (which will be ready in October) and made a double batch of "fire cider" decongestant for us and a friend who had just returned from the states with severe congestion/cold. Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates...on the Starship Nerdiprise! No surprise mini's this week, but MedBay's menu took first place in the Diplomacy Challenge! Most areas had already completed their requirements, so the extra points got transferred to the other areas which were a little bit short. But the Starship Nerdiprise is fully repaired and ready to take off!! So since all the "work" was done, I still could do stuff on my own, I just couldn't post anything. Next Week's Focus: RIP...Reflect, Inspect and Prepare...Another 6WC is over, and I need to gear up. We have one week to gear up for the next one. So during the break, I'll be reflecting on this 6WC, inspecting where I need to work harder or make adjustments and preparing for when the next one starts. Looking ahead to the next 6WC!! Bast
6WC Wrap Up: I survived my second 6WC with the Assassin's Guild. Once again, it was quite the experience...I don't feel as overwhelmed as I did last time, but I know I still have a lot to learn! I am a bit frazzeled, though...however, it's mostly from life issues (technology snafus for Weeks 4 & 5 ring a bell...) rather than Challenge issues. I learned some good lessons about rolling with the proverbial punches and being creative when things outside of my control get out of whack. I did good with keeping up with my spreadsheet, but not so much with posting my weekly updates...I was having trouble with that one even before the 2-week hiatus...so that's something I'm going to work on for next time! Epic Quest: Defeat my Mortal Enemy...It is not defeated...there were many times during this challenge when Fibro reared it's ugly head...but I refused to falter!! I had more pain days than I'd care to admit...days when doing anything was a struggle...but I fought hard and chose not to be a slug and let my enemy win!! Last Tuesday, I had an appointment with my doctor. I told him of all the pain days I had had since our last visit (which had been extended to every 3 weeks rather than every 2!) and that I had to break down and take meds the night before, and he laughed!! He was genuinely amused!! He asked me how many times when the pain came that I just sat around...none...if I did something, despite the pain...yes...how many miles did I track per week, even when there was pain...20 miles on average... Then he laughed again! "See, you're working hard to beat it, not because you have to, but because you WANT to...it's your desire, drive and passion more than anything that gives you the strength to be active, even when there is pain. And I don't know what you need me for, I'm just a cheerleader!" And he was right! The fact that I'm CHOOSING to do something, even when it's not as much as I would like, it's that CHOICE that makes the most difference! Luckily, I know my pain triggers (worst of which is bad weather, which we've had a lot of, and second is illness, which was bad this round, too), and I've been able to be creative in what I do so that I'm still doing something! So through my own personal awareness, I am finding the strength to fight, and the courage to hope. The war is far from over, but I'll choose my battles...one day and one activity at a time!! The fact that I didn't give up, makes this a total success!! Main Quest: Inch loss vs. weight loss...I didn't do too bad. I didn't loose all 12 inches, only 9, but that's pretty darn good!! I also lost 3.5 pounds!! I noticed two things that hindered me, and both were outside my control...illness and monthly cycles!! I had two cycles this time around (one at the beginning and one at the end) and an illness in between...so I didn't loose as much (if any) during those weeks, and once I gained back! However, because my diet and activity were both spot on, I'm still giving myself full credit on this. Now, if I had slacked off, like eating lots of junk food and being a slug (and OH BOY!! I really wanted to!! LOL!), it would be a different story. However, I cannot control the actions of viruses, bacteria or hormones, so I am not going to penalize myself for them not following the program! LOL! Beginning Stats: Weight - 129 # Ending Stats: Weight - 125.5 # Ribs - 31" Ribs - 28" Waist - 31" Waist - 29" Belly - 36" Belly - 32" Grading: 75% Reward: +2 CHA Quest 1: Do Something, anything, to remain active... Well, I got thwarted more than I would have liked...I didn't do much swimming (rain & schedule got in the way), I didn't get to use the Nature Trail (snake and rain issues), NFPW didn't happen as often here (mainly since I did them for the Assassin's Mini), I didn't make it to a group class or the obstacle course at all, and only shot archery once. However, the Bon O'Dori was a major success and I got my bonus point EVERY week!! So remaining active keep me being creative...I did yoga, a core workout, used a row machine at the gym and rode my bike...A LOT!! Major victories include being able to fasten my brazier behind my back for the first time in I don't know how long, and noticing in the shower when I shave how "cut" my legs are...I mean, the muscular definition is awesome! So yeah, I get full credit here, and I earned it!! Grading: 110% Reward: +2 STR, +2 DEX, +1 STA Quest 2: Eat what we have... Well, rain and heat and rain again, thwarted many of my garden session intentions as well as harvesting. We ate what I could harvest, and only lost a little bit to the elements and insects. Didn't do too bad on eating our inventory. It really helped our food budget as well as cleared some space in the pantry and deep freezer. However, things took a bit of a turn a the end, and I didn't finish there as strong as I would have liked. My hubby got his 10 week notice for PRT, so we started a new diet together to help "reboot" our metabolism. It starts out pretty strict, then eases up after about 4 weeks. So for the last week and a half, I was on that diet with him, and the inventory remained untouched. But it utilizes a lot of produce, so I still finished strong and get full points! Grading: 102% Reward: +1 STA, +1 CON, +1 WIS Quest 3: Give my body time to rest, relax and repair... Alright, I'll admit, I got off to a slow start on this one, and I was pretty bad about not doing much to pamper myself. But by the end of the Challenge, I was at least doing my full relax/unwind, meditation and going to bed 8 hours before I needed to get up! I know I set it up to only do it on weekdays (when the morning alarm is always set), but it got into the habit of doing it every night! So even though my pampering was lacking (although we did do one Onsen trip after Bon O'Dori), I'm proud that I was able to establish good habits!! I also noticed that by relaxing before bed (no screens), it was easier to fall asleep, and when I got a good night's rest, my pain wasn't as bad the next day! So again, I rounded out my Main Quests with a strong finish and full reward...including an Onsen!! Grading: 109% Reward: +1 CON, +1 CHA Main Life Quest: Learn to Control CHAOS... No, I don't have a cute little outfit for cleaning (usually it's just my frumpies since I try to do it first thing in the morning before I get dressed)...and don't give my hubby any ideas, either!! LOL!! Outfit or no, I still did a bang up job here!! I did have to adjust the calculations, since I totally revamped this one at the end of Week 1, but no worries...that's all part of rolling with the punches! I didn't sell or donate as much as I would have liked, but I pretty much stayed on top of my dailies, zone missions and details, and the WHBs. I also got a fair amount of decluttering done, too! Thanks to Tundralily, I joined a PvP, which helped me to stay on track, and gave me a couple of new goals in the way of "boss challenges"!! My two mini bosses (which I completed) were my Apothecary and office desk...both were a disaster! However, I wasn't able to crank out my main boss, which was my project room, but I did put a small dent in it! Well, I guess that one will be for the next 6WC... Needless to say, although I wasn't perfect, I did still bless myself and my family by what I did do and finished strong to get my reward! Grading: 98% Reward: +1 STA Life Quest 1: Organize our lives via Time Management and Routines... OK, so I felt like the gif...alot...I mean, alot alot!! I frequently felt that that more I tried to make a schedule, the more it got away from me... Luckily, I made a few discoveries along the way that helped me finish strong... First, not to over plan...unless I have a specific appointment or meeting at a set time, don't nit pick when I'm going to do things. Second, was to play to my strengths...I always have more physical energy in the mornings (thanks, Fibro), so best to do the proverbial heavy lifting before lunch and focus on wrap ups and desk time in the afternoons. And the last was of course flexibility...not to sound like a broken record, but roll with it when things don't go as planned. Like my main Life Quest, I had to revamp after the first week, but I think it helped me get a better grasp of things. I struggled most with my before bed routine, but the the end was dong pretty good with it. I'm still not quite where I want to be on this, but I'm, working on it! All good here, did well and got full credit! Grading: 99% Reward: +1 WIS Life Quest 2: Study, Study, Study... Well, this one totally blew chunks...but it wasn't all just me...I got a bit of a slow start, but then I really nailed the studying part when I was sick...what else was I going to do? Then when I finally found my groove, the internet went down...BLARG!!! Talk about frustrating!! I'm amazed at how much is actually done via the internet these days!! So for two weeks I couldn't study or research jobs, because it was all online!! But since that was beyond my control, I adjusted the calculations so that I didn't penalize myself. Originally, I was granting a point for charisma for the Job Search aspect of this one, but I changed my mind since several of my Financial activities and Herbology projects involved working with other people. All in all, I still did OK, and got my points, but don't be too surprised if you see this one again... Grading: 85% Reward: +1 WIS, +1 CHA Et Al: Fighting along side my Guildmates... "Al" and I did pretty darn good...the Assassins Guild, the great buncha movers and shakers that they are, totally rocked the Mini this round...we got the Starship Nerdiprise up and running with points to spare!! How awesome is that!! Through my participation in the Main Mini and Surprise Minis, I earned some pretty good extra stat points! The PvP went well, too...I finished with 95 out of 110 points! I think I missed something on the notice of who won and placed, because the spreadsheet listed me as top point earner, but three others were recognized in the posts as the top earners. Oh, well, I'm not nuking it...it was for fun and to help me stay motivated with my personal challenge (where I got 98%!!), helped me build better habits (which it did) and get a cleaner home (score there too!)!! As it stands, if they do it again next 6WC, I'll probably be joining them again! Grading: Did it!! Reward: +2 STR, +1 DEX, +1 CON, +1 STA, +1 CHA End of Challenge Focus: Well, it's time to think about the next 6WC that's just around the corner...so I'll be helping my hubby put his Challenge together, since he says he'll be rejoining the recruits...however, he's said that several times before...let's see if he does it...but for now, time to get some well deserved rest and think about my game plan for the next round...so see ya'll on my Battle Log! ...aaannnddd....DONE!
