CandiRose

CandiRose finds her inner beast

Recommended Posts

Copied form my respawn page:

So I suck at consistency...like really really suck.

I will be super good for a few weeks and then bam! I'm sneaking into the pantry to eat nutella out of the jar...and I than quit my challenge (I've started 3 -.-) because I'm too embarrassed to admit my failure.

With a recent diagnosis of Coeliac Disease my whole mindset towards food however has changed. It's crazy how you go from "I'm restricting that so I want that" to " If I eat that it's going to strip my stomach out" and in the last 3 weeks I have craved an egg sandwich but otherwise I'm not even missing the junk.

On top of that I just started Battle sports/LARPing (Swordcraft)...it is seriously the best fun ever and now I am so damn motivated to get fitter. I want to be able to sprint up behind some guy and kill him!!! On top of that I'm pretty sure I am going to join a group known as " The North" who regularly shout out " T!t's out for the North!" and all the guys take their shits off :tongue: I would love to be confident enough to show my belly and run around in a crop when they do this but I know that is about 20kg's away.

So here is to consistency. I am going to join the Challenge~! AND I am going to log in everyday and update NO MATTER WHAT the day was like. No matter how poor my choices were I need to lady up and cop it!

My Goal: To find my inner beast and work out what type of warrior/class/character I am going to be for Swordcraft and start leveling myself up to compete!

So now for the plan which I have kept simple and straight forward with the hope of completing it!:

Goal 1 Food-

*Track my food everyday ensuring I am eating 5 veg, 2 fruit and having No gluten.

*Cut out processed sugar form my diet with the exception of treats from Friday after work until Saturday night.

Goal 2 Working Out-

*Attend gym three times a week and Battle sports/LARP one day a week for a total of 4 times a week working out

*Begin doing some sprint training to improve my speed on the field

Life Goal- Work on my character for RP side of Swordcraft

Ok guys, will be checking in everyday to try and keep myself accountable

I hear you with the consistency! I finish my challenges but I do the minimum and really need to up the intensity of my workouts so what I have changed diet wise will pay off. I don't have Coeliac's but I have had to change my diet. I am about 80% Paleo and have gluten only occasionally. My tummy has never felt better. The " if I eat that it will strip my stomach out" is quite the motivator.

I look forward to seeing your posts daily, good, bad or blah it does help you to be accountable.

Hello Sarah!

thanks for replying :)

Tomorrow morning is Monday and I am spending the rest of Sunday evening preparing my meals ect for the week, one of the keys to not eating gluten i think as everything convenient to eat is full of gluten :)

I am into it full on tomorrow!!

Welcome and hooray! You are off to a great start. The meal planning will definitely help. I don't have gluten issues but I've seen a friend get knocked out by that 'stripped stomach' issue. You take care of you!

The swordwork and LARPing sounds awesome. I like that the catch phrase is your motivator. Have you thought about stat points or potential rewards?

 I havent really thought of rewards, I'm hoping my banging bod will be the reward. as well as this I suppose I can keep working on my character's outfit :)

Day one went well yesterday (monday here in Aus). Ate well all day and then went to the gym and completed a Pump and Sh'Bam class -Yay!

Today is going pretty good as well. I havent exercised yet, but am cooking a very nice dinner as we speak, steak in corn wraps with salad-yum!!

As far as my character I am thinking something outside of my usually really girly/sexy/feminie type. I'm thinking some sort of wildling/ferral kinda chick would be really fun to play :)

Hey FIVE week challenge buddy!!

I have Celiac's too. I was diagnosed....4 years ago? 5? Most days it's NBD and I'm actually a bit happy about. But some days I want to rip my hair out and eat a batch of fried cheese.

Following you're post now, looking forward to doing the rest of the challenge together :D

Personally, I lean towards the camp that 'The work is the reward' just as you said, your stronger, leaner, firmer body will be proof that you busted ass and gave it your all! However, a shiny carrot never hurt anyone, so if a nice component of your LARPing outfit will motivate you, all the better! Ie if you want a nice crop top or fitness leggings, etc.

What's Sh'Bam? It sounds like fun!

And also, you're an Aussie? (Please say yes so I may fangirl harder.)

Hi Coeliac buddy :)

It hasnt been such a big change to my life as I thought because I'm not a really picky eater-i love any food :D Mostly I miss the convenience.

Would love to get some recipes and meal ideas from you though :)

 My main motivation is to be confident enough to wear a cropped top as part of my costume in Summer so i think thats enough for me.

Sh'Bam is a Les Mills class. Kind of like Zumba but more fun because its all modern music and more what I would call music video dancing.Its mostly jumping around like a dork and I love it!

I am Aussie. I live in the western suburbs of Melb, where do you hail from??

check-in

Today was a success.

I went back to the gym doing a pump and shbam class again. I am nearly back up to my weights in pump i was on last year-yay!

Food has gone well too. Had museli and yoghurt for breaky, 2 serves of fruit, chicken and vege soup for lunch, trail mix in the arvo, and now a smoothie for dinner.

So far I think this week has been a win...just a few more days to go!

Hiya tiffy xxx

Today was perfect...the sun came out.

It is winter here in Australia and I swear it is the longest coldest winter we have ever had :( I am prone to mild depressive symptoms in Winter but today the sun came out. it was still cold and windy but I could see the sun practically all day :) :) I have been in the best mood I have been in months!!

Ate really well today, no gluten, no sugar

I've also been working on my character backstory for Swordcraft, let me know what you think xx

Tove, meaning gorgeous, was the youngest child of her father, a fisherman. She had four older brothers and it was said when her father held his daughter for the first time he wept with joy. She had her mother’s pretty face but with brilliant golden hair which made her mother and father say that she was the precious gold they had been promised by the gods when they were wed. Her mother told her she was the easiest birth a woman could hope for and was an equally sweet baby, never making a peep and never wanting for anything. Her brothers would joke that she was the most loved in the family and that they could not even be jealous as they could see what a gift she was to all of them. As Tove grew she was gentle, soft spoken and obedient to her parents. She would help her mother, serving her father and brothers when they would return home. She was skilled in cooking; keeping a home and making all who came to the home feel welcome.

As Tove grew to an age where a father would usually look for husband for his daughter it was said many a man came as Tove was so highly regarded in peaceful village where they lived however none would meet the high standard her father had for her.  Tove had not had much to do with boys who were not related to her as he brothers would escort her everywhere like a royal guard protecting some sort of highly regarded priestess. At the age of nearly 16, by a chance encounter, Tove met a boy one afternoon by the river. All she could recall about him later were his brilliant piercing blue eyes and love for her that was matched only by her father. He was an orphan which suited her father as the couple would than continue to reside under his roof after they were married.

It was all so long ago. A happy family, a peaceful village. This story was as old as time, repeating itself in this quaint hideaway. That all changed one day. In one fell swoop she lost it all like some sort of horrid nightmare. Tove began to take more responsibility in the home as her love joined her family in the fishing boats and the various trips away to trade wares and even the rare trip to aid in some conflict. Than one day soldiers came, she did not know from where, she was not worldly enough to know. There was noise outside that was foreign to her but her brother had heard it before. The sound of battle. He grabbed her by her arm so hard it hurt and began to shove her. Her beloved gave her one last kiss good bye and instructed her under no circumstances to come out and her brother than pushed her into the hiding space behind the chimney that they used as children. It was from there she saw the soldiers come. Angry words were exchanged, her brother drew a sword but was not a man of war and was quickly injured. She had to muffle her screams as her father was cut down in front of them as he refused to relent. As the soldiers began to threaten to burn the house down her beloved struck a deal with the men. He and her brother agreed to go with them, fight with them if they were to leave the house in peace for their aging mother. The soldiers shackled the men and left. Tears streaming down her face Tove knew her betrothed had saved the life of her and her mother. Tove raced out and held her father’s hand he smiled in knowing she was safe however she could feel the blood on her hands and seeping through her dress. Tove spent 10 days in mourning. She fasted and had not spoken a single word since her betrothed had been taken. Tove could feel no joy any longer.

Tove was broken, barely hanging on. It was at this time the pretty girl made the decision that she needed to become more. She needed to become a woman. She discarded her childish name. It embodied the naive and sheltered child she was. The child who thought the world was fair and peaceful. She stood up and walked to her brother’s room. In the chest she found what had been left behind. A few pieces of leather armour remained that were from their childhood and which would fit her petite frame. She pulled out the sword; she could barely lift it but attached it to her belt none the less. With tears in her eyes she walked away. It was at this time she remembered a folk tale told to her by her mother. Deidre. Melancholy. It seemed fitting.

Deidre left knowing she would never see his place again. In fact it was doubtful she would survive more than a night out of her ivory tower but she would try. She would look for someone, anyone who will teacher her how to fight. She will do what it takes to learn if it kills her. She will become fearless, she will become strong, she will become a warrior and she will find what she is looking for.

~~~~~~
Deidre is a fiercely loyal woman who after having been treated like a porcelain doll is seeking to learn how to fight after experiencing massive personal loss. Although she is weak she is dedicated to working hard to become stronger and more skilled so that she never has to experience the same loss again.
Heyyy yooouuu better update! You said each day no matter what! Where's that inner beastie? I hope your mood has improved, even in the midst of winter. I like Aussies because every single one I've met has just had this crazy verve for life, and it's super admirable. I often wonder, does living somewhere so daaaangerous inspire that passion? Ie get out and do stuff because tomorrow a drop bear could kill you!
Sorry for the delay, I've been busy being fit. Until this week I was attending gym three times a week and my swordcraft and loving it. I was very proud of myself for being in the habit so quickly.
This week however I cam down with a really bad cold and have pretty much slept for two days and am getting dizzy spells when i stand up (doctor says its spread to my ears).
My mood has improved a crazy amount since cutting out the gluten.
Haha Australia isnt that dangerous. We dont have bears and stuff in our forests!! But it is an amazing place to live :)
Ah yes, the terrible gluten. My sympathies. I know two people with varying degrees of reaction, so it's not something to take lightly. Good job on getting so many activities in this week! Rest up and have plenty of tea. I also get head colds that will hurt my ears. That loss of balance is a weird feeling.
everyanything: do you have a challenge this time round?
I very reluctantly stepped on the scale today. I was really worried because I have spent the week eating essentially processed sugar (read custard and chocolate) and watching Law and Order reruns.
It turns out I was able to loose .2kg despite that so that a relief. although I know I'm already loosing strength. walking around the supermarket to get juice yesterday and my legs were all wobbly from the inaction of the last week.
Still not well, didnt go to church today as I was on kids church and didnt wanna spread this to my kiddies. 5 days seems a long time to be sick and I am going nuts here! I am going to work tomorrow no matter what. I missed 3 days unexpectedly last week which is gonna put me massively behind in my work and cause stress for my team :'(
In happier news I remembered something really awesome form last week. My beautiful Sh'Bam instructor who I stalked from one gym to another so I could keep taking her classes pulled me up on her stage last week and told everyone I was going to be an instructor one day. I thought that was so sweet.
A challenge? Like an overall goal? I put that losing 5 pounds was my main quest, like my first challenge. I've reached that, so I just need to keep going.
