Ourladyofashes VI: Horror Movie Runaway

New Challenge. Here we go again. It's all the same but a little different. This time around I'm going for a theme. My theme: Saw. Starting with movie one. For those of you who don't know, WIKI on Saw. In order to survive the predicament I'm in, I have to do certain things. Like finding the saw and being willing to cut off my own foot. With that in mind:

CHALLENGE ONE: Time is RUNNING out!

Many of Jigsaw's traps work on some kind of timer, mostly counting down to your imminent demise. For example, Amanda in the reverse bear trap or the man in the maze of razor wire.

I will spend at least 90 minutes a week in a run/walk cycle. They don't have to be consecutive. I can spread them over the entire week, but in order for the minutes to count, I must be in a pattern of run/walk. If I am walking for more than five minutes at a time, that time will not count. This will hopefully aid in increasing my aerobic performance so I can run for longer periods.

CHALLENGE TWO: BREAK the chain.

The movie opens on two men chained at opposite ends of the room. All they want is to be able to get out of those chains. Jigsaw helpfully offers them a saw, but they have to be willing to use it.

I have been allowing more and more sugar back into my diet, which is not helping me in any fashion. It's time to break the chain of commitment on sugar. I will drink water, tea, and/or coffee. No soda. No extra sugar in anything. I will also watch my carb intake. If it isn't necessary, don't eat it.

CHALLENGE THREE: PHOTOS don't lie.

Everywhere in this movie, there are photographs. One of the characters, Adam, is even a photographer.

I will take a progress photo every week of the challenge. Shoulders down, but full body. I will not hide myself in clothes. I will not minimize my flaws. I will be open and honest about what is going on.

CHALLENGE FOUR: STRENGTH to escape

Alison Gorden, Dr. Lawrence Gordon's wife, chooses to fight for the life of her family but she couldn't have done that if she didn't have the strength.

I will spend four times a week, 30 minutes or better, in some kind of strength training. Yoga counts. I can also use the BBWW or Darebee.com. Whatever I chose to do, I must spend at least thirty minutes working on it.

LIFEQUEST: CHANGE to a better person.

Every one of Jigsaw's games is aimed at the participant becoming a better person on the other side, provided they survive. What's my life lesson?

I will daily spend 15 minutes reading my Bible and communing with the most Holy about my life and how I can become the person he wants me to be.

I'm following along, although I will be peeking through my fingers with my hands covering my eyes. so scary!

I love your goals! You're going to feel so amazing and able to survive any disaster/horror movie scenario!

It's okay if you watch through your fingers. Sometimes it creeps me out and I love this stuff.

Thanks.

That sounds like the best time to open it.  You'll sleep well after your nerves have worn you out.

I've made the mistake more than once to watch a tv show with zombies in it right before bed when my  husband wasn't home.

I didn't sleep  much that night :P

My mom used to talk me into watching horror movies when my dad would be away working on Flood Duty or some sort of training with the military. Occasionally, we'd both get scared after watching a horror movie. One time she decided to do what Mel Gibson did in Conspiracy Theory and prop a broom against the door. She piled coins and a soda can on it so that it would make as much noise as possible. I remember how funny it was hearing the crashing sound at 1:30am followed by my dad going "What was that?"as he walked inside.

I watched this 2 minute scary short that kept me awake at night for 2 weeks. I did most of my sleeping during the sunny afternoon hours. Don't watch it if you are a weenie like me.

I just watched it again.. WHY?!?! sigh....
