Good job on the improved body image, as well as the physical changes. I've stopped weighing too. After a point the scale becomes unreliable.

Sunday Week 1

This week went well. Got all of my workouts in, and also got my food situation handled well. It was especially good as I had guests this weekend. My boyfriend brought my childhood best friend- who'd been living on the other side of the world for two years! It was great to see both of them :)

 

Now to get to work on homework and coding and getting my week's cooking done. Pretty ready to face the week.

 

Or I will be once this post-visitor-leaving bluseyness goes away :/

Monday Week 2

 

Urgh, my workout didn't go too brilliantly this morning. I realized that I'd been deadlifting with bad form so I corrected my form and had to drop down the weight a lot :/ but at least I'm doing it properly-er now and I've almost got the 2 20lb dumbbells at the arm level. Can't wait to graduate to barbells!

Oromac's right. Your workout went well. If you are using 2 20lb db's it's time to graduate to the barbell, that's only a 5lb leap.

Edit: looked up the articles and realized I'd been doing them right to begin with. Well, at least my next deadlift will be more impressive.

Honestly, what happened was I saw a bad tutorial image. I keep an eye on those to make sure my form is okay and I just either misinterpreted it or it was wrong.

If you've got a way to record yourself lifting, we can always help check your form for you, if there's not someone to check your form IRL (you can always post the vid here; just linked to the forum section for resource).

 

Personally, I've found this page from Stronglifts to REALLY help my form. Lengthy, but worth it.

Another option, one I personally like, is to record yourself and then check your form yourself. Open the video file and play it side by side next to a video showcasing proper form, then spot the differences.

No harm, no foul.  There are many lifting resources out there to help get your sorted, but it seems like Steve and Staci have already done their part!

 

What's your feeling toward the challenge so far?  It seems like you're doing great, but I'd love to hear your perspective after week 1.

I think I did pretty well myself. Im enjoying getting different and more workouts in. The fruits and veggies are nice and having time that goes directly into coding really helps me focus on them.

Tuesday Week 2

So on a technical level, with my challenge, things are going fairly well. I'm still getting everything together. I'm managing my workouts and my fruits and veggies. 

 

But I'm dealing with some serious parent stress right now.... Makes me alternate between wanting to throw up or wanting everything to eat everything in sight. PMS and the bloating/weight gain that goes with is making this even harder. Urgh. Today wasn't great with food so far. I'm hoping that I can somewhat make up for it with a light dinner. At least this won't set me back as far as it would have a few months ago- my metabolism is so much better than it once was. Leads me to believe that I truly am gaining muscle.

Sorry you're having a rough day. That's encouraging to hear about the effects of increased muscle though.

It is. One of the (much fewer than there used to be) bad days I had recently brought me to realize this. I'm not as stressed about it as I used to be since I can, and need to, eat more food than I used to anyway.

I can't really relate to PMS (haha), but I relate to parent stress all too well.  Sorry to hear you're going through some life.  But like Tank said, it sounds like you've got a good mindset about it, and you're getting through it fairly well.  Keep it up!

I can't really relate to PMS (haha), but I relate to parent stress all too well.  Sorry to hear you're going through some life.  But like Tank said, it sounds like you've got a good mindset about it, and you're getting through it fairly well.  Keep it up! 

Lol be glad you can't relate. And I'm trying to, my stress is trying to eat me. I just keep mentally telling myself that I can't allow other's choices to poison my own mind
