But I'm dealing with some serious parent stress right now.... Makes me alternate between wanting to throw up or wanting everything to eat everything in sight. PMS and the bloating/weight gain that goes with is making this even harder. Urgh. Today wasn't great with food so far. I'm hoping that I can somewhat make up for it with a light dinner. At least this won't set me back as far as it would have a few months ago- my metabolism is so much better than it once was. Leads me to believe that I truly am gaining muscle.

 

It's great that you've come such a long way, both mentally and phyiscally.  Your metabolism is starting to fire as nature intended and you've become more aware of the impact of emotional eating.

 

Sorry to hear that you've burdened with an abundance of family stress, but like anything it will fade in time.  Keep after your goals and you'll feel great about at least that aspect of life, if nothing else!

Wednesday Week 2

Thanks guys, things are hopefully getting better.

I went to the gym this morning and I got my veggies and stuff in yesterday even though I didn't eat supremely well. Today is looking to be a good day as well!

Thursday Week 2

 

I was going to get my non-strength workout in today with a swim, but the pool was closed when I went. So I'm going tomorrow after work instead. I'm planning to go to the gym to do my (new and improved) strength feat, a third strength workout this week.

 

Got all my fruits and veggies in pretty much all week so far. Today my sorority is going to iHop with the new members for a celebration, but I'm going to eat some food before so it can be a snack instead of dinner ^_^

 

Or like- half a dinner.

 

Also going to be glad when my parents bring me more Splenda. I only have enough for one more cup of coffee and I must use it judiciously.

Great going!  Sorry the pool was closed.  Swimming is always a fun time.

Breakfast foods actually aren't too bad.  Stay away from the syrup, obviously, but eggs and ham and bacon and such are actually perfectly fine.  

I actually don't care for syrup except on French Toast. Which I always (thankfully) forget I know how to make.

 

The problem ended up being that I had too many carbs with my rather decent dinner and then had a lot of food at the restaurant. Didn't finish it all though.

Friday Week 2

 

There's always like one week where being a girl causes carb cravings. I don't even get sweets cravings really, it'd be better if I did. I have a chocolate that's so rich I can only eat 3 squares at once, which is like 1/4-/1/2 of a serving. Urgh. Oh well, I'm still learning to control it. If anyone has tips that'd be great.

 

I won't get to go to the gym today (stupid football game) but I'm going to go for a run if the rain isn't too bad so that's okay. Today should be a lot better as far as food is concerned. Though I did forget to thaw chicken.

 

All I can do is keep trying and learn how to control my carb cravings. I'd like to say they're getting better/rarer/easier to resist maybe. 

 

I'm also hoping to take measurements next week again. I think I'll find that I've lost inches again. I hope so anyway.

 

Wish me luck for tomorrow, my 'rents are coming to visit me at school and I'm a bit worried since we were just fighting on Monday. It seems to have been put away for now, but I'll believe it when I see it.

You can always have a sweet potato handy for carb cravings. Depending on your dietary needs you can add butter and cinnamon with no sugar to a baked sweet potato, or you can cube it up and fry in a little oil for some really good hash. Sweet potato is good complex carbs, so if you just gotta have 'em those are the 'em to have.

I actually use red potatoes sometimes. Little small ones. I just never think of them in time :/ I think I might invest in a larger bag of them the next time I grocery shop. That way I don't have to feel like I'm saving the two or three I have for dinners that I've specifically claimed them for

Oh here you are! With another great challenge. You seem to be doing just fine so far, keep it up!

I have to start all over again with the carbs and the cravings, but I do remember it gets easier as you pull through.

 

For me, breaking my meals into more, smaller portions over the day helped. 

No idea if that's a solution though - I too had a week each month where resisting cravings got a lot harder.

Something I don't look forward to once I start cutting down carbs :P

Came up with like 12 good reasons not to go run. A few were even legitimate.

 

So instead of wimping out and failing, I did this:

Because it said ranger and it didn't require equipment.

 

I loved it! It was a short workout where I DEFINITELY worked up a sweat. Definitely going to use these in the future when I'm not feeling leaving the house

As someone who struggles immensely with sugar cravings, discovering sweet potatoes was a lifesaver.  Cooked exactly how Tank mentioned, or tossed with the slightest amount of cinnamon and honey (or be a pumpkin fan like me, and dust them with pumpkin spice - or bake cubed pumpkin, for that matter!).  It helps with carb cravings.

 

I also turn to oatmeal cooked with a small amount of chocolate chips and a scoop of peanut butter regularly too.  In my mind it's healthier than a chocolate bar or bag full of gummies.

Saturday Week 2

 

Thanks :) I'm going to get a few sweet potatoes next time I'm at the grocery store I think. Those are a great idea!

 

Today was alright on food, though I didn't get enough fruits and veggies in for the first time all week. I'm going to eat some apple with this last slice of pizza I had with my family on our outing today, then go to the gym and do my strength feat of one extra strength workout.

Bananas are a staple of my diet.  Mostly post-workout nutrition, but I couldn't live without those things.

 

I try to pounce on every sort of seasonal fruit at least once as it shows up.  Lately it's been nectarine, plum, and peach season at the grocers, so I've made sure to sample at least one of each.
