I really hate that Shia Lebouf meme. 

 

But yeah, the only thing I track religiously is Shark Week.

 

I'm sorry. I love that meme! It really tickles this strange part of me and I laugh maniacally every time I see a clip.

 

Shark Week is the one thing I don't have to track because of the pill. So grateful...

For Shark Week, I have an app for that. :P It's actually one of the few things I track (other than calories) electronically, since it's always on hand and whenever something weird happens physically or emotionally, it's a quick glance at the app to be like, "Oh, Shark Week is a week away. THAT explains that!"

I picked up bullet journaling from Haikoo a while back: http://bulletjournal.com/and while I didn't really wind up following it as a method, it did get me back into pen and paper planning and to-do lists, which are immensely more satisfying than the digital kind, for sure.

UPDATE (Week 1 Day 1)

First day! So hopeful! So excited!

 

 

Challenge:

  • Airdyne - I guess I should have known that doing Airdyne on the first day back to kickboxing, WHILE sleep-deprived, would not yield results. I ended up almost killing myself, since my calves apparently are super tense for some reason.
  • Writing - I wrote something, then I promptly deleted it because it sucked. Attempt #2 will be today and I think I will just continue writing and ignore the suckage. This isn't about being perfect the first time around; it's about working for it. I will work for it.

You can say yesterday was painful.

 

Yesterday was rather hopeful for me, even if I didn't get enough sleep to feel rested. I wanted to do well at the start of the challenge and I think I did all right. My problem, really, was lack of sleep. It sabotaged my results, since I didn't get to have enough energy for the day. I kind of fell asleep in my chair at work once :tongue: Don't tell the boss!! :D

Damn, that bed looks comfy and I really want it right now.

 

Kickboxing was all right - the class was easier than usual so I didn't really exert myself that much. It was fun, though! I got to do a whole lot of refreshers, which always helps on a first day back. I really hope I get to go back on Wednesday, because I really need to get back into things.

 

Diet, as per usual, will be my 'yes, you're doing really well' part of this challenge :D Once I set my mind to it, I get really driven. I think it shows in my shopping yesterday: I had a coupon for a box of Magnum ice cream bars (my fave, OMG) and they were on sale too. I chose to buy them, but I did not eat a single one! They will sit in the freezer until a cheat day or after the challenge. Because I'm dedicated to diminishing my bf% I WILL DO THE THING!

Today's Plan:

  • Writing
  • Jump Rope (5 minutes straight)
  • Core video
  • 50 push ups
  • 40 pull ups

 

I chose to incorporate some strength training into this challenge, even though I'm not officially making it a part of my challenge. Somebody told me a while back that it's incredibly easy to lose the muscles responsible for pull ups. I can't have that! :tongue: My goal is to do salmon ladder like Oliver Queen! And then a muscle up. But that's down the road... As per usual, I will be doing push ups at work; approx. 10 push ups every hour so I don't fall asleep at the desk :D (It's really warm over here today). Once I get home, I'll knock out the core video and follow it up with jump rope. Pull ups will be last. I will try to write stuff on my lunch but we will see how that works out for me :D Hopefully, really well.

I updated my measurements in my set up post. Is it normal to have biceps as thick as your neck? Also, not surprisingly, my right thigh is bigger than my left one :P Yes, I am an orthodox kickboxer, it makes sense. What I'm surprised with is the fact that my left bicep is larger than my right. It should be the other way around. Oh well! :D

I actually want large biceps to intimidate all the men that would ever think of intimidating me (which is usually ZERO). In my head, I conquer many assailants with my giant arms :P

 

Also.

 

I had a hilarious exchange with my boyfriend last night:

 

Me: Is my neck really slender or are my biceps just really large?

Him: *stares* This is very much a Kobayashi Maru question, isn't it?

Me: LOL!

 

My man is very good at the whole uber!nerd thing :P

Oh my god the salmon ladder looks like a special form of Hell.  I'd love to do it too but for now...just some pull ups would be great...

 

There will be lots of rolling out today! Actually, I started my day with stretches :D Since I took the train to work, I had some spare time. Which I used to stretch my legs on balustrades. People were giving me looks and I did not give a crap :D

 

Once I get myself to a pull up, I'll do that 20 pull up training thing, THEN I will attempt salmon ladder. From what I understand, it's not too horrific (you just need to know how to do a kipping pull up), but I'm still far from it :D

Some Ninja Warrior people told me clapping pull-ups are the most effective training for it over kipping pull-ups. It is in my ultimate goals as well. :D

Also, pull ups aren't that horrible if you constantly work on them :D I improved dramatically in my last 6-week challenge

But yay for an awesome day 1. And you should know better about editing while you write. It never ends well, just with innocent words murdered. :(

UPDATE (Week 1 Day 2)

This will be a quick update, mostly because it's a little embarrassing. All those plans I had for yesterday? Nothing happened. I had sleep deprived myself so severely that I could not get up the energy to do ANYTHING. I was falling asleep at my desk to the point that my boss noticed and poked me about it (extremely embarrassing, considering how laid back my workplace is) and by the time I got home, I was so unmotivated (and bummed out by car troubles) that I just sat in front of the computer for an hour, went to bed, and passed out.

 

On the positive side, I woke up rather rested today. It means I'll have more energy and motivation to perhaps catch up on some things. I still forgot to prep work out clothing last night, which means I totally spaced grabbing it this morning (let's just say I'm not great with brain function in the morning). As it follows, I won't get to the gym tonight and I won't get to do Airdyne. I will try to catch up on other things on my list, though.

 

Ugh, it seems like I'll continue playing catch-up this week. Not great for my mental state, to be honest. I'm trying to stay positive today. It will be better. GUH!
