chloe_0_o
Coming out of a haze, an unsightly woman appears. She is barefooted, clothed in ill-fitting garments and smell faintly of wine and tobacco. Her skin is greying, her hair is lank and she has the bulbous, bloated appearance of someone who has lived a life of poor-mans decadence. "Where... where am I? Who am I?'She is weak, she is disoriented and starving, she feels that she has been here for at least a day. She looks around and sees that she is in some kind of store. There is a door to her left, but it is blocked by debris, there is a dark tunnel to her right. Assessing her surroundings, she sees a bottle store, the tobacco counter and the fresh produce section. At her current strength, it will take a long time to clear the debris. She is not sure how long the service tunnel is, and whether or not she can reach the end before losing consciousness. She decides to see if there are any other people in the store and to recuperate and build strength. She can not hear a recovery effort - something must be happening in the world out there. She is safe and well stocked here . When she feels better prepared she will decide if shifting the debris or trekking through the service tunnel is the most productive route.Main Quest: to be fit enough to leave the storeTo be <95kgSmart Quests: Commitment to physical betterment: I am in really bad shape. I need to flex my muscles, build strength and work on my endurance. I need to become devoted to a physical condition. I don't know what I will have to face out there. Go to the gym every day - even if I only stretch.Passing grade: 90% Rehydration: I am very dehydrated. I need to re-hydrate myself and allow my body to heal.Drink at least 2.4L of water, or plain herbal tea per day.Passing grade: 85%To learn to feed myself based on the available supplies: Based on my body, I'll assume I've lived a diet of low-nutrition, high-calorie, processed food. I will need to make do with what is available - good thing I am trapped in the "fresh food" section rather than the candy aisle! I will have to set up a list of supplies tomorrow to see what I am facing.Prepare my own food from a list of approved food - no "on the go" food.Passing grade: 85%Life Quest: Acquire transportation: I am currently un-shoed. That should be recitfied.Buy a car. Motivation: I feel unprepared for the outside world, I don't know what is happening, or how the other people - whether they are enemies or survivors - are going, but I need to be prepared to meet them. I feel embarrassed being out in public with my friends. They are generally healthier than me, and I am unhappy comparing myself and coming so short.I give myself 45 days 1 Quote Level 0: Human Ranger"Jack of all trades, master of none. Weaklingwondergal
Hi Chloe I love your goals. They are specific and achievable. I can see you really put some thought into them. Good luck with the challenge and I look forward to seeing your progress. PS cats are awesome Quote Current Challenge Link to comment
Melissa Louise
Hey Chloe! I loved your creative intro. That's pretty much how I feel when I wake up every morning. I like that your exercise goal is flexible and doesn't hold you to a specific thing, so you can do whatever exercise works for you. Also remember that even if you don't make it to the actual gym, you can do exercise at home. I really empathize with your motivation. Most of my friends are much, much fitter than me. I am still getting out and doing the hikes that I love, but I am always the slow one huffing and puffing in the back. Someone recently used me as an example of what a local healthcare company is talking about when they encourage people to get outdoors and be active no matter what kind of shape they are in, and I know they probably meant well, but OUCH, that hurt to hear. I'll be following along. Quote My first six week challenge!"I can't run, but I can walk much faster than this." -Paul Simon"There is a crack, a crack in everything. chloe_0_o
Day One: 10/09/2015 - 8.19AMI foraged some seeds, nuts and oats for breakfast. There are about twenty other people here, many of whom look like they want to settle in. After a quick scan of my area I realised I would have to divide my day into several tasks.Task One: I need to start working on my physical condition. Some exploring and clearing of the store should help. Go to the gym.Task Two: I want to acquire more knowledge. I have a lot of free time in here, I could waste it, or I could work on getting wiser.Go to uni. Task Three: If this society is to function, some routine tasks must be done by all involved.Go to work.I have gathered a plum, and avocado, a couple of potatoes, some lentil mince, and some salad vegetables to get me through the rest of the day. I have already drunk 800mL of water. I am on track to meet my goals.I can see a few problems; There are a group of people gathering by the tobacco counter and liquor store. They appear to be setting up camp for the weekend. I am drawn to do the same, but if I do, I'll become complacent and I'll never get out of here. For now I can rely on the momentum of my goals to get me through, but I'll need to set up a better protection against them for the next weekend.A lot of the work and food here will be monotonous and repetitive. I'll need to find a way to zone out during routine tasks, or friends to keep me company while I do them if I realistically want to achieve my goals..There are a couple of girls that have caught my interest. They both seem interested in my plans to get out of the store, but I'm not sure of their commitment. I will welcome them with me on my journey, but I realise that they may split onto a different one and I may meet people on my journey with goals more in line with mine. One is a warrior, one is a scout/druid. Day One: 10/09/15 9.02pmIt's been a long day. Added some bread and peanuts to my lunch, though the rest of my day was on track. I walked 3.5km, spent half an hour pulling myself up and down shelving units and stretched out my leg muscles. Work consisted of an hour and a half of treading water in the basement looking for supplies.Currently falling asleep, feeling pious about avoiding the liquor store, but less pious about the three cigarettes I have had. Tomorrow is a new day. Considering I have about 300mL of water left til my goal, and an hour before bed, I will consider all my goals met for the day. 1 Quote Level 0: Human Ranger"Jack of all trades, master of none. Melissa Louise
<crackling over the store PA> Attention. Denizens of the store, it has been six days since you last made contact. We can only assume there has been an adverse event such as a cave-in, solar flare affecting communications, or localized sharknado. Be advised that, should you miss the weekly check-in, search and rescued will be deployed. The search and rescue team will arrive in the form of '80s movie gifs. Blaidd
hey, how was your first week? You might notice that someone has added a tag to your post. This is not to box you into a corner but rather because your goals or lifestyle have links to the guild you've been tagged and we'd like to bring you to the attention of one of their guild ambassadors. These ambassadors will be able to offer you advice, encouragement and support on your goals. You don't even have to wait around for them to come introduce themselves to you, you are more than welcome to pop into the Adventurers' board and introduce yourself to the guildies there. I am also around to answer any questions that you might have so do not hesitate to PM me.
