I’m once again using this challenge to see what I can do and how far I can come. Last challenge I learned how to dolphin kick, and how to hold my breath. This challenge will be all fun and games….at least until someone gets shots in the chest with rock salt. My main focus will be to build up endurance, flexibility, and to have fun. (also Supernatural themed because I can)

Main Quest: SEAL THE GATES OF HELL
I get a lot of questionable doubt, both from myself and others around me. These are my demons. And they need to get back to hell. I want to build up my stamina and endurance, improve flexibility, and to gain strength. I want gain knowledge and use it as the lock and key to seal these demons away in hell.

 

First Mission:  ACQUIRE & SAFEKEEP THE DEMON TABLET
I'll have to work hard to not only acquire the demon tablet, but make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong  hands (*cough*Crowley*cough*)

  • Mermaid training M & F
  • Parkour workout M-W-F
  • O2 and/or CO2 training on Weds.

This will work on my endurance, stamina, and strength. Things needed if I’m going up against demons.

Second Mission: ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES

When your trying to outsmart the King of Hell and run from Angels, while hunting down the things that go bump in the night…you gotta be kinda flexible. I will work on flexibility for at least 5 min or do yoga on my â€œoff†days.

Third Mission: DECIPHER THE DEMON TABLET

It’s going to take a lot of work to decipher a tablet written in a language even Angels can’t understand. 

  • 5 min review vocab
  • 5 min grammar
  • 5 min reading
  • 5 min Kanji review

I’ll have to do this every four hours (8,12,4,8). This will be on a point system. Each item is worth 1 “wordâ€, for a total of 16 “words†a day. Listening and reading podcast notes can substitute for 15 min of vocab, grammar, and reading.

 

Fourth Mission: COMPLETE THE DEMON TRIALS

There are three trials that need to be completed in order to seal the gates of hell. But I won’t know what these trials are until I decipher the demon tablet.

I admire both Jared and Jensen as actors and as crazy human beings. Their characters in the show motivate me, but so does their campaign, Always Keep Fighting. That’s all the motivation I’ll need.

In the end the gates of Hell didn't get sealed. I lost motivation during this challenge and decided to take the time to figure out why.

 

This challenge was originally planned when I worked very few hours in a month. I also underestimated the difficulty of things. And of course, took too much on at once. 

 

However I did not fail this challenge:

I learned that I need to focus on one thing at a time in order to give 100% and do better in the long run. I also learned that parkour wasn't for me. And I did make amazing progress in my mermaiding.

 

I've learned what I had to do to make my next 6WC a better success. And I'm excited to start!

Today marks Day 1 of my quest to seal the gates of hell. I took some time to decipher the tablet and had some quiet yoga time to reflect on the battle ahead. This time around I've gotten strict with my missions. I don't plan on backing down, or slacking off.

After today I deserve some pie.

 

In order to see a Hell Hound, one must look through glass scorched by Holy Fire. So I went to the Optometrist. While I do have to go back in March, my Rx did get updated and I got advice on Lasik and PRK so that's great. 

 

Along with my tablet deciphering I also did:

The new mini-challenge has been announced and according to the rules there is to be no running, swimming, biking, flying, angel zapping, or car rides to Modor so guess we're walking.

1.91 miles down...who knows how many left to go. Got up to 1 minute on my O2 training (not sure why I slipped back but, hopefully that can be fixed). Also

Got some much needed supplies this week: MY FINIS MONOFIN

 

It took a lot to not break into the pool and test it out, and I'm so happy that it's here. Today was a good day to kick some demon ass:

Now swimming with a monofin is no joke; drowning in that thing is hella easy. I also had some bad foot cramps after 50m. More training needs to be done, but it was amazing.

Week One Report

 

First Mission: I'm glad to say I kept up with my parkour training and my mermaid training this week. Saturday I got to do a zipline/rope course which was a lot of fun, although a bit out of my comfort zone. But I had a blast so who cares!

 

Second Mission: I've stretched with my monofin (which is a lot harder than it sounds, did some yoga and flexibility videos, and made to sure to stretch at least 5 minutes on days where I didn't have time. All good here.

 

Third Mission: Okay. On a normal day I can take 20 min every 4 hours to do my Japanese study. However, being the "I-can-do anything" badass I ended up taking on three new teaching jobs. Since they're in Tokyo, on twice a week I'm gone most of the day (mostly because commuting takes so much time). So right now I'm behind in deciphering the tablet. Good thing is that this is Silver Week so I have time to catch up and get intoa better groove.

 

First Trial: I'm a bit behind completing the first trial. Rolling isn't that easy, so i can't do it on the hard floors of my house. I should be back up to speed by the end of today.

 

Walking to Modor: I've logged in a little over 15 miles for this week's mini challenge. I'm actually suprised I walked so much, so was my husband. But I guess when you don't drive, have a dog,  and do 45 min walking on the treadmill 3x a week, it adds up.

Another week, more demon ass to kick.

Last week was great starter, but now we gotta up the game. I'm dropping weights from 75-lbs to 70-lbs on my assisted dips and pull-ups, dropping the Smith machine bar from the 6th notch to the 7th, and add another 100m to my swim. Today though, I'll work on catching up on deciphering that tablet and completing the first trial.

 The sun was pretty bright during the day, but was gone by the time I went for a swim.

God today was awful. I hurt myself trying to push myself too hard on these rolls for the trials. I edited the first trial to reflect that the 3rd progression is very difficult for me. I refuse to keep pushing, I don't want a hip injury to ruin my plans for the future. This challenge was to see what I could do, and now I know 300 rolls in two weeks is too much for me.

 

With that said I know now where I stand. My future workouts will reflect that. I thought this would mean leaving the guild, and joining the scouts...but I really think my place is here. While I'll keep fighting the good fight, after this challenge, I don't think parkour will be a goal for me anymore...we'll see. I don't belong in the other guilds; my goal is swimming, but not for speed or stroke form, but for fluid movement and breath holding. To be a better mermaid. 

 

Anyway...sorry for that sappy chick flick moment. Back to the important stuff:

First Trial down, and like Sam, it's taken it's toll on me. I'm feeling a bit under...I hope I feel better. I just have lack of energy to workout. I'm falling behind on my Japanese lessons...things are getting crazy. Now the second trial is going to start tomorrow. It's looking more and more like I don't want to continue with parkour after this challenge.

Yesterday was great. I swam 25 meters in one breath! And my husband swam in my monofin, successfully teaching me different ways to put it on and take it off. I also started on the Second Trial, which is working out great, with Zombies, Run being pretty fun to play, even if I walk my dog. Now if I could just catch up on my Japanese that'd be great.

Where have I been? Great question!

 

I've been taking way too much stuff this challenge and failing!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

 

Long story short, I'm not doing parkour anymore. I injured myself, I say fuck it. I'm outtie. I'm also going to quit playing catch up. 

 

What I'm doing now:

I will start over, so to say, and pretend the last few weeks didn't happen. I won't play catch up, whatever doesn't get done that day doesn't get done, period.

 

Next challenge I hope to do better.

Don't sweat it...chock it up to lesson learned...most of us have done the same thing!  Now you know that for the next round, you can set things up with baby steps so that you don't take on too much too fast!  Just remember that the Assassins aren't just about Parkour...we've got it covered from A (archers and aerialists) to (fencers and fighters) Z (even zombies!) and all things fitnessly cool and awesome in between!!  So mermaiding fits right in there!!

 

Just remember that when you're in the water, ya gotta be careful of those sharks...
