Mad Woman's first challenge

Hey all!
I'm a whovian, potterhead, Star Wars fan, lover of books, music, mom of 2 little girls and wife to an amazing and equally nerdy husband! I was recently introduced to NF by my awesome hubby and think that it was be an amazing tool for our health and general well being! A little back story: I'm 27 (in December) 5'6 and weigh 270. About 20 pounds of that is left over baby weight, but I've always been overweight and hated it. But until recently I have never hated it enough to do anything about it. So that's a good first foot forward for me. My biggest problem is I have awful sugar cravings. I get to thinking about sweets and obsess over it and drive myself crazy until I get it. Otherwise, I eat
Pretty healthy and don't drink but the occasional soda.

Main Quest: Lose 110 lbs

Quest 1: walk for AT LEAST 10 minutes, every day.

Quest 2: Eat no sweets for the next six weeks. I WILL break this bad habit.

Quest 3: Exercise (other than walk) 3 times a week for at least 20 minutes.

Life Quest: Spend at least 30 minutes a day away from phones, TV, tablets, etc. doing activities with the girls. We are all too involved with technology and it's a habit to be broken.

Motivation: I want to feel happy in my own skin. I want to look better for myself and for my hubby. I want to set good examples for my children and keep them out of the ugly rut that has been until this point. And I want to be able to cosplay as Harley Quinn without looking horrible at it :)

I'm a potterhead, trekkie, starwars fan... etc, etc. No kidlets yet here, but maybe in the next couple years. Who knows? 

 

Do you have rewards for yourself as you reach these goals? Attribute points on here? or something else? Rewards are important. 

 

I'm totally seeing how maybe the walking goal can be a family thing & you can walk and talk with whole family for ten minutes maybe? idk, my husband and I walk the dogs every day and it's when we talk and unplug. Can't have the phone in your hand when the dog might try to run after a cat.  :playful:

Okay so day one is here. Took my girls for a walk around the duck pond near our house since it felt AMAZING today (about 70 when I took them which is a lot better than the high nineties last week) no sweets today and will be doing my body weight workout after the kiddos are in bed. Plus we spent extra time playing outside so my no technology rule was also a success

Awesome sauce! Congrats on the water intake. Have you tried putting some lemon or some fruit in it to make it more bearable?

 

Thanks Ambs. I'm drinking flavoured mineral water at the moment. I actually really like water and it's my preferred option. I just find it hard to drink more than my mouth tells me it requires, and my mouth seems to think I'm a damn camel.  :wacko:

Thanks Ambs. I'm drinking flavoured mineral water at the moment. I actually really like water and it's my preferred option. I just find it hard to drink more than my mouth tells me it requires, and my mouth seems to think I'm a damn camel. :wacko:

Oh! Well never mind then. I know a lot of people don't like water. I love it but find it hard to down when I'm not thirsty.

So far so good! It is almost 5pm here and I've gone on my morning walk and spent time with the kiddos and even cooked hubby a yummy lunch for work. It's hard to say no when there is temptation at certain places that I visit (like my grandparents house) but I'm getting it done. I've slacked on my water intake today so I guess I better pick it up before bedtime.

That sounds perfect! I love a good duck pond.  :D

 

I live in the flattest place in the UK, so the scenery isn't very exciting (I do love a hill and we don't even have a slight slope). If I want to go for a long walk I tend to drive quite a way first. I go for short walks with my dog, but they're very short because she's old and diabetic and not exactly sprightly!
