Brovatar Korra
Competed in the highland games yesterday, so much fun! I competed as novice since it was my first time. Unfortunately I only got through half of the events, I jammed my thumb good on the caber toss, and had to sit out the rest because I couldn't grip anything! Thumb is feeling better already today, lots of naproxen + wrapping + ice = recovering. Everyone there was so friendly and willing to give tips and advice, even within the same classes. I had a great time and I'm planning to attend another Highland Games in my area in November! Here's a few pics of me attempting the caber toss and the braemar stone. Stone was about 9 pounds, my best throw was 20 ft! The caber, I was able to pick it up as you can see, and KIND OF threw it but it definitely did not flip end over end. The issue was not the weight, it is definitely a question of technique and practice. 1 Quote "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. - Wayne Gretzky." - Michael Scott. Link to comment
Brovatar Korra
Today's CF workout:5 rounds5 power cleans10 push presses15 deadlifts20 air squats We had to use the same bar for all the movements, which I did not like, and at a certain point I realized I was doing a deadlift movement 75 times with just a 45lb bar - and the stupidity of it hit me all at once. I am all about doing body weight movements for time, because if your technique breaks down on a pushup or a situp - big whoop you're still getting something out of it. But this - this just felt stupid. Reeeeeal stupid. Quote "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. - Wayne Gretzky." - Michael Scott. Link to comment
