JessOfAllTrades
The Serenity Crew ReturnsFor rebels who have failed to complete the past few challenges, but are still trying! Firefly is an amazing little Joss Whedon series that originally aired in 2002 on Fox. It lasted only one season, and eventually had a feature film. This TV show has gone down in geek history as a gem enjoyed by all. I could go on for hours about the show, but most of you probably already know all about it and love it. So let me keep this short -- One of the best things about Firefly is the characters. Each member of the Serenity crew comes to the ship with a history. No one is really good or evil, but rather just trying to get by and make the best decision possible for themselves (or someone they love). Despite moments of questionable activity and some oh-so-human selfishness, there's a bond between the crew members that the Captain especially holds true: You help one another in times of need. Therefore, this group is for people who have failed the past few challenges and are in some need of success and accountability. Maybe we ghosted the forums, maybe we had something hold us up like an injury, or maybe life just got in the way. Regardless, if you have had difficulty completing challenges recently, this is the place for you. And as far as I can tell while there have been Firefly-themed challenges, there has not been an Accountabilibuddies group? I might be wrong on this, and if so I apologize to the original creator. Much like the crew of the Serenity, our job is to not only go through with our challenges, but to support one another in our time of need. So by being in this group, you are also making a commitment to help one another and reach out when needed. How we do that is up to you -- posting on threads is one thing, but maybe we need emails/texts/facebook contact too? I'll leave that up to all of you. Regardless, our job is to keep each other motivated, accountable, and see to it that we finish this challenge. I also hope to have some fun, Firefly-themed mini-challenges as well that will not add more to do, but give us some ways to bond and have fun. Let's aim for a crew of 9, just to match the crew of our beloved show. We're not going to claim ship positions or anything (unless you all want to), but here's a character quiz for fun to see who you best match out of the Serenity crew. Apparently I best match Kaylee (no surprise there - it's either her or Wash usually for me). Also, while not finishing the last challenge was a bummer, I am happy to be able to start this group again. Members of the last crew who did succeed are more than welcome to come by and cheer us on. Still interested? Post on the thread, share your challenge thread, and let the Chinese-slang begin! Members of the Crew:1. JessOfAllTrades2. Mac3. tundralily4. The Swedish Ninja4. acfourni5. Mac
Hey, Jess! Long time no see on these here forums! I will absolutely join your crew. My credentials: I spaced out the last two weeks of the last challenge and totally forgot that it was ending (I think saying I ghosted it would be generous); the last challenge prior to that was two years ago, and was also not completed (life majorly getting in the way), after a steady string of finished, if not always rocked, challenges. So, I'm definitely making a priority goal this time around just finishing the dang challenge!! On the Firefly side, I can attest that I am writing this via my home network, Serenity, and though I have retired Shindig, my last beloved laptop, the new one is yet unnamed, so anything is possible. Let's see, who would I be on the Serenity crew...probably Simon: overactive sense of duty and loyalty, can't get out of my own way/head when it comes to having fun, and hopefully a clutch team member when the time comes! Current challenge with the Rangers. Heading over to the Druids to sub your thread! 1 Quote Level 7 Ranger, Perpetual Newbie Tell me, what is it you plan to dowith your one wild and precious life? tundralily
I'm in! I haven't finished the last of my 3 challenges and am in some need of support and the occasional but kicking to see things through to the end. This such a shiny idea! I love firefly, and am most like Kaylee with a sprinkling of Zoe depending on the situation. acfourni
Hey All! I gave up within a week of the last challenge, so that didn't go so well....BUT, I'm back on track, and I have my priorities figured out this time! I'd love to join the crew! The quiz says that I'm Inara - which I thought was pretty surprising. I would have pegged myself as a Kaylee or Wash. But hey, Inara is pretty awesome too.I look forward to completing this challenge with all of you! 3 Quote Link to comment
Erick the Red
I'm willing to sign on. I'm kind of spacey when it comes to the forums, another reason I think I end up slacking towards the end, so while I'll follow everyone, I wanted to mention that my inbox is also open to PMs if anyone ever wants to chat about progress/goals/fitness-related things, etc. Also, took the quiz and got Jayne. Erick the Red
The best way to keep me accountable? Shame. I try to post daily or near-daily, so that when I am thinking about skipping a workout or eating something off plan (although food is not a part of this challenge, for better or worse), I have to figure out how I am going to explain it to the rest of the crew. Nine times out of ten, this is enough to get me back in the game. I appreciate that other people are motivated differently. I am not asking people to send me messages where they call me names for missing a run. But if I miss more than a few days, it may be because I don't want to confess that I failed at something. Just the knowledge that I will need to return and report helps to motivate me to make that report a good one. 2 Quote Current Challenge: (Feb-Mar 21) Step by Step My Epic Quest Character Sheet *** Old Challenges and Links hidden below Spoiler My Old Battle Log (2012) 1st (Scout) 2nd (Scout) *** (2013) 3rd (Warrior) 4th (Warrior) 5th (Warrior) 6th (Assassin) *** (2014) 7th (Ranger) 8th (Scout) 9th (Monk) 10th (Scout) *** (2015) 11th (Ranger) 12th (Ranger) 13th (Ranger) 14th (Ranger) 15th (Scout) 16th (Scout) *** (2016) 17th (Ranger) 18th (Scout) 19th (Scout) 20th (Rebel) (2021) 21st (Adventurer) Past groups: The Wild Hunt 6 *** The Serenity Crew *** The Wild Hunt 5 *** The Wild Hunt 4 *** The Wild Hunt 3 *** The Wild Hunt 2 *** The Wild Hunt 1 *** Browncoats Achievements: (20 Sep 2014) Completed first half marathon *** (17 Feb 2014) Finished mission to bring body fat from over 25% to under 12% over six months (trying to repeat that now) Link to comment

JessOfAllTrades
I require harassment to stay accountable. I need encouragement, messages, you name it. If you see me go more than three days on NF, call me out on it. Facebook is the best way to do this because I get the notifications right away. Gchat is another method because it's also on my phone. At work it's easy for me to disconnect - but at home? I'm always near my phone. In the end, I'm comfortable letting my self down. I'm not comfortable letting other people down. So use that against me. Someday I hope I can shift my blame a bit better and be motivated by it, but not in my current state of being. 3 Quote Storytelling Rebel | Blog | Twitter "“You've seen my descent, now watch my rising." ~ Rumi Link to comment
NikaNika
I hope I'll be able to help people. I don't feel like I'm very good at keeping tabs on other people... but I'll try! I believe I'm following everyone's threads by now, if I missed someone, just lemme know~ As for myself, and keeping me accountable, post on my Challenge thread! When I am not on for a few days, then return to see that nothing has happened on my challenge thread at all, it feels very disheartening to me and I tend to gradually give up after that. Being asked how my week went (past the 3rd week cuz it seems like the first couple of weeks are good for ppl to post) is a good way of doing this, or even just a small cheer of support, or anything really... seeing posts like that reminds me that I'm not alone and that there are people actually following my own progress. Otherwise I tend to think that I'm just a puny number and whether I improve or not (within the context of the challenge) doesn't matter in the long-run. I think it's a bit selfish of me to ask for that too because it's probably my fault since I'm so bad with checking in on the forums regardless, but it is something that contributes to me giving up in those last few weeks. 2 Quote Level 3 | Wood-Elf | Druid | Current ChallengeIntro.
