I know I wasn't the only one tricked by the link at the top of the page...so here is my copy/pasted thread!

 

I'm active duty Air Force and currently deployed, but I would like to achieve a 100% on my next PT test upon my return to home station! In order to do that I need to run the 1.5mile in ≤10:51 and be able to do ≥46 push-ups in 1 minute. I always max out my sit-ups and waist measurement, so I'm really just focused on the running and push-ups.

 

main quest - complete self-administered mock PT test with score of 100%

 

quest uno - follow the hundred push-ups program (3 days per week) STR CON

A- 3 Days : +3 STR +2 CON

B- 2 Days : +2 STR +1 CON

C- 1 Day : +1 STR

I see you went ahead and hopped into the 100 pushups program! Nice! I'm subscribing to see how the progression goes. Keep on pushing. (Up :D).

That is the number of bugs I have eaten this year while running and biking.  LOL  It could be higher but I have not been near the river trail on my bike as often.  I did it for fun because I eat several bugs a year and it keeps it fun even when hacking after an expected bug strike.  I end up thinking "well that is one or two more to add to my count." and then it bugs me less.  ha ha ha  I should count road dirt too.  Uck.  I guess I should learn to keep my mouth shut but I just love biking and running so much I can not help but have a big smile on my face most of the time.  Then again I also have eaten them while yelling out "wwwwhhhhhheeeeeee" on really great hills.   :biggrin-new:

Day 1 is in the books as a success. I decided to log the exercise over on my fitocracy account that I haven't touched for over a year. I did discover that trying to get in quality push-ups after negatives is a no-go, so those will no longer be done on the same day and I will start over with the push-ups tomorrow. I forgot until just now that I was going to take photos, maybe weekly? My ultimate goal for this challenge doesn't have to do with looks, but it might be fun anyway.

I did indeed just take a picture, and I'll hold onto it until after the first week, then take another and see if there's any difference.

I did the same yesterday, more for comparison. When you can see change it helps to keep you motivated (at least for myself) but when you look at yourself daily you can't notice it. That's why I took the pic, when their side by side (hopefully) the difference can be noticed and help keep you moving.

I really don't want to skip today, but I'm still really sore from Monday's negatives. I can't imagine doing more negatives. I don't know what to do.

I assume you are talking about DOMS pain...in that case I would say get a good stretch in before and ease into doing them. Hopefully after the first few and the stretching the pain will stop. It's what i use to have to do, I would hurt and tge first few movements would be hellish but after that the pain would disappear.

I ended up having to do them assisted, which I can't even track properly on Fitocracy because it is not really a thing. The bar is low enough that when I stand on my toes my chin is almost above it, so I slowly lowered myself without taking my toes off the ground, then made it slightly harder by also slowly raising myself.

Good way to handle that I think.  DOMS should get better as you know.  You can make sure to eat foods that are good anti-inflammatory foods like oregano and onion.  Ginger is another one.  Even if it is ginger powder just toss it in hot water as a tea.  I love to add lemon to mine.

  • Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Is it reasonable? Scoring a 100% on a PT test is definitely achievable and reasonable, considering I got a 97.2 on my last one.

  • Do your 3 quests all build towards your main quest in little ways, or are you taking on too much? Do your quests have sub-quests or is it just one thing to focus on? My quests directly contribute to my main quest, and they do not have sub-quests.

  • Are your main goals realistic? Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? Is this different from question 1 somehow? I don't need to scale them down since I left them pretty basic.

  • Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? What will you use to track them? I track my workouts with Fitocracy.

  • How are you grading your goals? Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? I have basically told myself that I will not miss a day, because I don't want to have to deal with the math involved.

  • What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? If I became ill or injured I would scale the workouts and still count it as a win, because I'm still doing something towards my main goal.

  • Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Labour Day, Independence Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? No occasion will put a hindrance on my goal because I live alone in my hotel room and every day is just another day.

  • Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? The only thing I had to change early on was not doing negatives and push ups on the same day. Now that I have that worked out, everything is fine.

  • Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? Even after a 12 hour shift and getting back to my room at 2100, I still went out and did negatives and interval sprints. I will make time.

  • Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? I have other habits I'm working on listed in my daily battle log.

For completing this mini quest you will receive an additional +1WIS at the end of the 6 weeks.

I have been following quite a few people since the beginning, but the ones I see post the most are Eedad, fffffinn, and awesomesue :)

I did not pass my first attempted CLEP out of the 3 I wanted to pass this challenge, but that doesn't mean I can't just pick another one to do. That one just had the highest pass rate of all the math CLEPs. I got a 45 and the minimum passing score is 50. I'm in a sour mood.

Sounds like a bummer. :/ I tried to find out what CLEP means and I think it's got something to do with school/education… ? Don't know how big a deal that really is so it's pretty hard to relate. But I know it's not the end of the world and hope that it'll be something that you can get over quick.

It is basically self-studying a truncated version of a class, then taking a test on it and it counts as if you'd taken a semester of it and gotten a C.

 

I think I've finally gotten good form down to where I can really progress with my push-ups! I feel good about where they're going!

I switched pull-up programs to one that seems to have a better progression. I wasn't seeing any results with the other one.
