Silmarilliane's Tenth Challenge

Hi there

I'm on my tenth challenge, say whaaa?! So my last challenge went pretty well in the sense that I followed my goals, but I ended up eating pretty badly and put on weight (and generally feel a lot flabbier now... maybe in my head)

I am now one year on from my most sucessful challenge - the epic point-based challenge 3, so I'll be reviewing that part of my life quite (food and exercise-wise) a bit to work out what went right.

Calorie counting: Yes, definitely back on this. Mfp set to sedentary, lose 0.5lb per week (1550) and adding exercise calories. I'm going to attempt to log absolutely every day - last week I attempted logging cals last week and discovered I was eating 2000+ a day :(

Ruling for this is that I'll tot up my daily remaining calories (over and under) and the total for the week needs to be under. Bonus points if every day Mon-Sun is under.

Press-ups: Because I love them, these are staying. Aiming for 20 a day but only lose points if I do less than 150 a week. Again, bonus points for going over 1000 by the end.

Walking: So this and sleeping go hand in hand slightly - if I get a late night, I sleep in and then either get the bus or stay on an extra stop of the tube to get into work on time. As I'll be logging exercise again I'll keep a spreadsheet of miles (or log them on mapmyrun) and try to keep it as high as possible. Mainly I just need to go to bed at a reasonable hour.

Weights: This have really gone on the back burner for me lately, but I really want to keep up with them. My dumbbells are currently 12.5kg each and I've been focussing on bicep curls, military press and bench press. My aim is to do any sort of weight training three times a week. I think I'll need to diary these in to make sure I stick to it.

So that's my challenge. Spreadsheet will be posted soon ;)

Made so much difference starting a challenge yesterday - logged calories and 450 under for the day. Also got the dumbbells out for some bicep curls and did 20 pressups in the morning :)

Oh yeah!

Under cals every day except one but total of 1885 under for the week :D

Don't have my spreadsheet at home (d'uh) but pretty sure with pressups I have done daily: 20, 0, 30, 30, 25, 25 so far, so will do 30 today just to be sure I'm over 150!

Dumbells were done on Monday (bicep curls) and Friday and Sunday (bicep curls and deadlifts), so a pass on that too, yeay!

What I've found from the last challenge is that I don't actually need breakfast - in fact last week having food in the morning gave me indigestion, so this week I've been having a coffee in the morning and then lunch when I'm hungry. Basically I've been eating when I'm hungry rather than when the clock says I should. I think this is good progress for me :)

Definitely, this is the first step towards intuitive eating which is awesome! :D

Well done on all that dumbbell work, I know you often struggle with motivation in this respect.

So last week was pretty appalling for calories. Tuesday I was 250 over due to a work evening event (which involved free drink and a buffet). Got back on track but then Friday was McMillan coffee/cake day and drinks after work (500 over) and Saturday I was at a singing workshop all day and a charity ball in the evening with three course meal including a buffet of puddings (estimated 1500 over). This meant that Sunday I knew I wouldn't be able to claw my way back without either starving myself or doing a marathon so I decided that eating cream doughnuts would be a good idea... Total over for the week was 1600, and the only good thing is that I'm still about 300 calories under in total if I include week 1.

Otherwise I did ok: I did my press-ups (155 for the week) and VERY pleased I still did dumbbells three times - in fact, I was dressed up for the ball on Saturday (dress, makeup, hair curled etc) when I realised if I didn't do Saturday AND Sunday I'd fail. So I did three sets of 8 bicep curls all dolled up :D

Mini update! Calories have been kinda up and down this week because it turns out I quite like food... who'da thunk?

Pressups all good and on track and also huzzah that I can now do 3x10 sets of 12.5kg bicep curls! OK they aren't amazing but am still able :)
