Erick the Red
I have been out of contact with these forums for a while, but I need to get back into a good routine. Mission: Run with my wife in the Scenic City Half Marathon in February 2016. Goals:1. Run three times per week. Building up mileage since I haven't really trained for a race since I ran my first half marathon September 2014. Plan to run early in the morning (what had been my usual routine during earlier race training). Maybe some in the evening if I need to do so.2. Cross-train three times per week. Body-weight HIIT, strength training, sword training, maybe some sledgehammer HIIT work.3. Walk for no less than 30 minutes every day. Parking in the back of parking lots helps. Remembering to take a break or two at work and walk around then. Walking around the block in the evening or early mornings that I don't run. Eventually I plan to get a better food plan in as well, but right now I want to get a better movement habit going. Let's see if I can make Cheetara proud. 4 Quote Current Challenge: (Feb-Mar 21) Step by Step My Epic Quest Character Sheet *** Old Challenges and Links hidden below Spoiler My Old Battle Log (2012) 1st (Scout) 2nd (Scout) *** (2013) 3rd (Warrior) 4th (Warrior) 5th (Warrior) 6th (Assassin) *** (2014) 7th (Ranger) 8th (Scout) 9th (Monk) 10th (Scout) *** (2015) 11th (Ranger) 12th (Ranger) 13th (Ranger) 14th (Ranger) 15th (Scout) 16th (Scout) *** (2016) 17th (Ranger) 18th (Scout) 19th (Scout) 20th (Rebel) (2021) 21st (Adventurer) Past groups: The Wild Hunt 6 *** The Serenity Crew *** The Wild Hunt 5 *** The Wild Hunt 4 *** The Wild Hunt 3 *** The Wild Hunt 2 *** The Wild Hunt 1 *** Browncoats Achievements: (20 Sep 2014) Completed first half marathon *** (17 Feb 2014) Finished mission to bring body fat from over 25% to under 12% over six months (trying to repeat that now) Link to comment

Erick the Red
I would like to hear all about this sword training please! When I am not at our weekly practice or a weekend tournament or a bigger event, the sword training I am talking about is boring pell work. A pell is a standing target to hit with a weapon. Mac
Hey Erick! Wow, a half-marathon is no joke! I ran one once but then my knees begged me very loudly never to do that again (especially the left one, noisy bugger), and I promised them I would not. Now I feel like four miles is a BIG run. Okay, I'm rooting for you (and your wife) and cheering for all those mornings you get up early to hit the streets. Sword training, also badass. 1 Quote Level 7 Ranger, Perpetual Newbie Tell me, what is it you plan to dowith your one wild and precious life? Erick the Red
5am is early if I stay up past ten. Like last night, dealing with some issues with my youngest who is almost two. Most of the time I like early mornings, because there isn't anyone else around. I can have 30 minutes, or maybe even an hour, and not have to deal with anyone else except for me. (This is another reason why I like running. No one asks for help getting the peanut butter down from the shelf while I am running.) And now I need to take a short walk, or else I will be doing it all again tonight. 1 Quote Current Challenge: (Feb-Mar 21) Step by Step My Epic Quest Character Sheet *** Old Challenges and Links hidden below Spoiler My Old Battle Log (2012) 1st (Scout) 2nd (Scout) *** (2013) 3rd (Warrior) 4th (Warrior) 5th (Warrior) 6th (Assassin) *** (2014) 7th (Ranger) 8th (Scout) 9th (Monk) 10th (Scout) *** (2015) 11th (Ranger) 12th (Ranger) 13th (Ranger) 14th (Ranger) 15th (Scout) 16th (Scout) *** (2016) 17th (Ranger) 18th (Scout) 19th (Scout) 20th (Rebel) (2021) 21st (Adventurer) Past groups: The Wild Hunt 6 *** The Serenity Crew *** The Wild Hunt 5 *** The Wild Hunt 4 *** The Wild Hunt 3 *** The Wild Hunt 2 *** The Wild Hunt 1 *** Browncoats Achievements: (20 Sep 2014) Completed first half marathon *** (17 Feb 2014) Finished mission to bring body fat from over 25% to under 12% over six months (trying to repeat that now) Link to comment

Erick the Red
Update for Thursday, 17 SeptWeek 1, Day 41. Runs: 2/3 so far. Third will be Saturday morning.2. Cross-train: Sparring practice in the evening. Sparring is a lot like sprinting while carrying 20 pounds of metal on your body, except not really. Learned a little about protecting my sword arm, since one of our better fighters was practicing arm-sniping. Got to practice blocking sword-side leg shots and throwing sword-side leg shots.3. 30 minutes walking: 4/7. Two short walking breaks at work, parking as far from the building as I can and walking back and forth a couple times, and then parking at the far end of the lot for practice and a couple rounds of carrying my gear back and forth. (Click to embiggen) From Gulf Wars, March 2015, I am on the left of the shield wall, down low with the colorful round shield. This is a brave last stand -- we are blocking a bridge while the rest of the army rallies in the wooden fort. 5 Quote Current Challenge: (Feb-Mar 21) Step by Step My Epic Quest Character Sheet *** Old Challenges and Links hidden below Spoiler My Old Battle Log (2012) 1st (Scout) 2nd (Scout) *** (2013) 3rd (Warrior) 4th (Warrior) 5th (Warrior) 6th (Assassin) *** (2014) 7th (Ranger) 8th (Scout) 9th (Monk) 10th (Scout) *** (2015) 11th (Ranger) 12th (Ranger) 13th (Ranger) 14th (Ranger) 15th (Scout) 16th (Scout) *** (2016) 17th (Ranger) 18th (Scout) 19th (Scout) 20th (Rebel) (2021) 21st (Adventurer) Past groups: The Wild Hunt 6 *** The Serenity Crew *** The Wild Hunt 5 *** The Wild Hunt 4 *** The Wild Hunt 3 *** The Wild Hunt 2 *** The Wild Hunt 1 *** Browncoats Achievements: (20 Sep 2014) Completed first half marathon *** (17 Feb 2014) Finished mission to bring body fat from over 25% to under 12% over six months (trying to repeat that now) Link to comment
