Hello and welcome to the latest installment of the weird and wonderful Kyliewyotie show!

First thing first; yes, I want you to punish me.  I'm not a masochist, but I do know that it would be a good way to stay on track.

oz34P1Ml.jpg

Background:

last challenge I instituted a checklist system.  It would provide me an acceptable mandatory minimum level of fitness and productivity.

The reason this was implemented was because my life situation has began to provide me with less and less free time.

Promotion, that takes more time. My wife is 38 weeks pregnant, so baby incoming.  All of my free time is spent on our home, remodeling fixing etc.

I was using that as an excuse to not get work outs in, to blow chores, and generally be a fat lazy slob.

My System:

I wanted to keep it simple, and I use check lists a lot during my job.  So it made sense to make a relatively short list of things that I have to do each day, no matter what.

I use a app on my phone to prompt me at 9pm to check off what has been done.  I will keep my self accountable by the day.

I wanted to ensure I kept moving forward in each area of my life, so my check list picks items in areas I want to ensure don't slip away.

I used this system as a test last challenge, and in hopes of building them into habits over that previous 6 weeks.

I completed the challenge with a 82% success rate over all.  Pretty good but I want better.

That is where you come in, having the looming fear of public punishment from my NF friends should help my not blow off items.

If it does great, I will rock these 6 weeks, if it don'st my public punishments should provide you with some entertainment.

I know this doesn't fit the idea of 3 fitness goals, and one life goal etc.

But hey were rebels after all, so screw it.

My checklist:

1. walk at least 7500 steps each day

-I usually complete this just from my job, but if I don't I will walk laps at the park at night.  Steps being counted using my vivosmart band. (been using it for a while now, accuracy is acceptable.)

2.  Daily PT

   - Short session of body weight exercises, 2 sets done as fast as possible.  each set has 45 jj's, 15 squats, 10 push ups, 3 pull ups, 12 legs lifts, 60 arm circles.  I will allow for substitutes on that plan if I need to increase difficulty or if I away from home and pull ups are too hard to complete.

3. Wizerscises!

   - Every time I take a bathroom break, I do 10 squats.

4. Take my vitamins

   - Take my vitamins everyday, Doc said I should, so I should.

5. Eat under 2k calories

   - I have a meal delivery service, that gives me good tasting, healthy fresh food daily. Pre portioned to hit the calorie goal of my choice.  All I have to do is not cheat, (the hard part.)

6. Stretch

    - I know it will help my not hurt myself at work, and it will be nice to be more bendy.  I can't touch my toes, and I would like to.

7. Chores

  - Do one each day.  I want to make sure I don't come home from work and shit on the couch all night.

Punishment plan:

I may not report in each day that I did all my items, but If I don't I will check in with the bad news.

I think the simple answer is one punishment for each check missed.

I'm pretty open to what ever people pick, as long as it isn't crazy like getting tattoos or jumping off a roof.

I will retain the option of saying no, but with the spirit of things I don't think I will.

I will post when I fail, and first come first served when dishing out punishments.

TLDR:

I have a checklist plan to stay fit, healthy, and productive when time is short

I used it last challenge to build habits

If I fail, I am looking for punishments.

Thanks everyone, and good luck on your challenges.

I think the flaw here is gonna be the originality of your followers. I am more than willing to keep you accounted! But it would be far easier to have a list of things to pick. Also a list makes it easier to think of other (likewise) stuff.

So if that's settled,

I thought about providing a list, but decided against it.  The "fear" of the unknown feels much more powerful than a list.

That being said I am sure it could be difficult for some to choose a "punishment"

They could be boiler plate type stuff like drop and give me 50.  (push ups)

or go run a mile (running= yuck)

Then some people that know me know I love jeeps, so it could be to read  an article about how jeep sux etc.

Or since I'm a dolphins fan (football) it could involve me posting on my facebook rooting for the opposing team (risking a beating for that.)

Or embarrassment, powerful stuff.  Post a video of me doing the macarena or of me singing love shack.

All possibilities.  The fear of what you guys think of, is powerful.

I am in an outage this week.  I work at a power plant, and it means that we take a boiler offline.  We rush like crazy people to do a crap ton of maint as fast as possible.

We lose ~35k an hour so we really do measure jobs done by minutes.  It is kinda stressful and requires long hours.

This week I come in at 0430 and go home at 2000 with driving its like 17 hour days.  I will do this for 10 days in a row, then life goes back to normal.

It sucks, but I have become somewhat used to it, and it can be rewarding.  Being charge of 20+mill budget, and having a crew of good guys, and we do have pride in how well we do perform normally.

That said, this week I also have my final budget review.  People who followed my previous challenge know that I didn't do well on first run through.

So the president and all the senior guys in the company are going to be here for this one.

I have spent loads of time, and put in a bunch of effort.
But having an outage at the same time stresses me out.  I feel overwhelmed.

So My checklist method will be pushed to the test this week.

I may be doing my workouts at work, but I plan to get my checks.

Unfortunate typo or Freudian slip? Does cleaning the couch then count as one of your chores?

You're going to rock your budget review.  You got the first one out of the way, you know what to improve upon this time, and you've been putting in the time.  You got this.

LOL, were 1-0 yo!  good start!

And thank you for the kind words, I don't know what to expect in this review.  New company owns us, I'm in a new position, etc.

The unknown can be scary, plus outage and BABY on my mind.

Thanks man, glad your here.

Work is nuts for 60-70 ish days a year.  I am pretty used to it, but trying to keep my healthy habits during those times hasn't been successful in the past.

Try at least to go "damage control" sometimes life just happens. Coming out of it better as last year would already make it  a win!

Preparing for the unknown takes far more preparation and stress as you're working toward multiple futures in your own mind.

Late to the party so good luck if you hadn't already presented! If you have then good luck with the rest of the outage.

The best punishment I have ever heard was someone gave their friend $500 to donate to PETA if they didn't make their goals.

(I promise I won't say $500. And I'll actually pick an organization that does good.)

That is a very good idea!  another good "punishment"

I knew I could trust you guys, to come up with good ideas.

Luckily no explosions this time.  All planned worked so far.

I agree compeltly sometimes limiting the bad is as good as it gets.

I am thou trying to ride week 1 enthusiasm into a full week of check marks.

The latest and greatest.

A report of my last 2 days.  Been very very busy!

Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly

The Good:

Budget review rocked!

XarCyeH.gifyeah-nailed-it.gifgiphy.gif

Yeah I put 3 gifs up, It feels so damn good to have that off my back!

It went super well!  such a relief.

also good I got all my check marks!

Sorry folks your gunna have to wait for me to dye my hair and do the chicken dance.

The Bad

My outage isn't going well (partially due to all my attention on budget stuff.)

Mostly due to some manufacturing issues, without getting into deep metallurgy stuff, I think we got some crappy stainless steel from China.

I have to send it out for lab testing, but I would bet on it.

That means more repairs needed, so longer duration.  It also means more material used, and I think I might run out.

Its far from off the shelf stuff, so I may need to fly some in $$$.

The Ugly:

Me covered in boiler ash as I find a fix for all these issues.

Congrats on the successful presentation! Probably feels twice as good pulling it off during the outage and twice again as good after the stress you've experienced.

Good luck finding some better stainless!

Thanks man.  I feels great!

Congrats dude! Thats gonna be a big relief, and more time to focus and the rest of the stuff. Still not out of the clear yet, how are things coming along with "chinese materials"?

OMG yes!  Repairs are coming along, I estimate it will take an extra 20 hours of down time to finish up.  Not horrible.

We had a doctors appointment yesterday, second one in a row where my wife had slightly elevated blood pressure.

So they sent us to the hospital, for them to run some tests and possible induce labor.  She is 38+ weeks.

From how everyone was talking It seemed almost like it was a sure thing.

We spent all night there with tests being done, blood, urine, ultra sounds, blood pressure, heart rate etc.

All good, and told us to go home and made an appointment for her to be induced on Tuesday.

So looks like I will be a dad on weds!

My wife feels good, so i am back at work till Monday.

I got all my check marks in yesterday, lots of time standing around at the hospital to do some exercises and stretching.

Wow, i didnt knew she was this far along. Let me be the first to congratulate you (here at least). Please take this advice, spent all the time you can with your wife and kid! This (especially the first) is such a magical time, enjoy it too the max. Don't let this challenge or work intervein! I don't know if you get days of for this where you live, but where i live we get 2 days of, i extended them with vacation till 4 weeks. And i would do it again in a heartbeat, just to have that magical time with the family again!

Sounds great, the 4 weeks i had was quite long. Just make sure you enjoy this time, it's such an awesome once in a lifetime period! And with 2 weeks of free time, and a wife and little one you will have plenty of time to do other stuff.

The kid is gonna sleep a lot, your wife probably too, there will probably be some people around to check out the new wonder but next to that you will have a lot of time to enjoy!
