I, on the other hand, am bouncing poorly.  Today is the second consecutive day I've demolished a pair of Mrs. Freshley's cupcakes with a Coca Cola after lunch.  That Mrs. Freshley is a foul temptress on par with Little Debbie.

I'm not sure avocado toast should count as overeating at all.  The point is to break the binge habit - did it feel like a binge?

Well...I guess not really.  A binge feels more like uncontrollable inhaling of food until I'm too stuffed to move and/or there's nothing tempting left to eat.  Both in the morning and the evening I purposefully kept it to a controlled amount.  On the other hand, overeating has a broader definition in my mind - usually just eating over maintenance.  Even though I resisted from doing a mental tally of calories yesterday, I could feel I was well over maintenance.  I ate the toast for hunger rather than pleasure.  But!  I think I need to remember your patient bear gif/meme from last challenge and accept that this process wil take baby steps.  If I can turn all potential binges into a little controlled overeating, then that's a pretty good first step - a 3000 calorie "bad day" is certainly better than a 5000 calorie bad day.

Haha, I could never bring myself to dirty my spreadsheet with a 0.8.  .5 is borderline, I'm tempted to just give myself 0 so I don't have to look at decimal points.

 

Ugh, cupcakes.  Normally they're not a food I crave, but we went to a local bakery this past weekend to try their donuts (well, I was disappointed to find out they only made cake donuts, so I went for a chocolate croissant instead), and they had these cupcakes with a fluffy looked frosting that about doubled the height of the cupcake, and I've been craving one ever since.  They also had M&M cookies the size of a small frisbee, and lots of other cakes and such.  No wonder the line is out the door every time I walk by on a weekend morning on the way to a tennis match!

Haha, I could never bring myself to dirty my spreadsheet with a 0.8.  .5 is borderline, I'm tempted to just give myself 0 so I don't have to look at decimal points.

 

Ugh, cupcakes.  Normally they're not a food I crave, but we went to a local bakery this past weekend to try their donuts (well, I was disappointed to find out they only made cake donuts, so I went for a chocolate croissant instead), and they had these cupcakes with a fluffy looked frosting that about doubled the height of the cupcake, and I've been craving one ever since.  They also had M&M cookies the size of a small frisbee, and lots of other cakes and such.  No wonder the line is out the door every time I walk by on a weekend morning on the way to a tennis match!

 

This, this right here is why I like you. :)  I'd rather lose pretty than win ugly, too.

 

These weren't good cupcakes, they're the packaged ones with "creme" filling like the old Hostess cupcakes.  They were sweet, but six bites and 400 calories later I'm kicking myself for the lack of discipline.  With the bottle of coke not only have I let my Waffly brethren down, but I've also deprived myself of a potential cheeseburger.

And this is what I need to put on my refrigerator.  Save the calories for stuff that's actually worth it!  Like a cheeseburger.  Or, more specifically, the noble cause of testing cheeseburgers with the aim of formulating a make-at-home Butterburger copycat.  Ground beef is on my grocery list for next week, and I'm not sorry.

I liked the croissant (all the flakiness!), but the chocolate filling was a little...too chocolatey?  I think I was expecting something more nutella-like, not so strong.  It made me start wondering if I could teach myself how to make croissants at home, which is a dangerous line of thought...

 

I'm sorry.  I can't comprehend this string of words.  makes no sense.  

 

But yes, I have gone down that same line of thinking.  Luckily, good croissants are a pain in the ass to make, or so it sounds from all the recipes I've seen so I have yet to attempt it.  That pile of doughy crap that comes out of a tube is not a croissant and will not substitute as a vehicle for chocolate.  Well, OK, if it were just a vehicle for chocolate I would probably still try it, but it would not be a suitable replacement for chocolate croissants.

I'm sorry.  I can't comprehend this string of words.  makes no sense.  

 

But yes, I have gone down that same line of thinking.  Luckily, good croissants are a pain in the ass to make, or so it sounds from all the recipes I've seen so I have yet to attempt it.  That pile of doughy crap that comes out of a tube is not a croissant and will not substitute as a vehicle for chocolate.  Well, OK, if it were just a vehicle for chocolate I would probably still try it, but it would not be a suitable replacement for chocolate croissants.  

It's not that I don't like chocolate - I do like dark chocolate plain.  It was just that it overpowered the buttery croissant flavor, making me wish I had just gotten the plain croissant.

It's not that I don't like chocolate - I do like dark chocolate plain.  It was just that it overpowered the buttery croissant flavor, making me wish I had just gotten the plain croissant.

For a while, I had this mentality. If I'm going to piss away X amount of calories - it mine as well be a real treat that I can't get everyday and feels like it's worth it.  Grocery store and buying f*cking poptarts? That's not fancy, my friend.  Waste.

I think that the 3000 calories as better than 5000 calories is absolutely the right mindset for breaking the binge habit. For me it was working on moderation that really helped, but I think it's something about the all or nothing mindset: either I eat at a deficit or I eat all the things, something it is about being okay with the gray area. I found all or nothing thinking to be a big contributing factor to my binges. Just my experience though. Sounds like you're definitely making progress!
