Hi! After my first challenge was over, a fellow rebell asked me if I intended to remain an Adventurer or planing to switch to a more specific class. At the time, I thought that, as my main goal was to lose weight, I had to remain an adventurer. Later I was told that it wasn't necessary.

I share almost every characteristic that is listed as typical for a Ranger, and my Training is 60% endurance Training + 40% strength Training: swimming 3 times a week and Bodyweight Training 2 days a week(focusing on strength gains, a lower back condition keeps me away from my beloved barbell).

So I decided to go with the Rangers this time (and hopefully stay for the challenges to come)

SMART goals

-Reduce alcohol consumption to once a month max. (+3Con)(+2Wis)

-Strength Train 3 times a week instead of 2, using the parallettes at least once a week. (+5Str)

Not fitness related

- Have a conversation with each one of the members of my reenactment group to get a better insight of what actions should I take as a leader to improve the group and get everybody motivated (+5Cha)

I love how this community allows me to let out my fantasy loving-not historic accuracy obsessed version of myself, and freely talk about Ulfhednarr without pondering their existance hahaha

Yo! your goals look good.

What kind of reenactment are you up to?

Viking Age and it's getting better than ever. With new branches forming across the country(and across the border!) we are probably the most widespread middle ages reenactment group in Argentina. I'm the leader of the Buenos Aires branch and with so many new members aplying it has been difficult to keep everybody motivated. But I intend to change that

Week 1 Day 2Yesterday I went swimming in a fasted state. It wasn't all that bad but today is strength Training day and I don't think it'd be prudential to fast completely. Instead I'm having some nuts and raisins,  just enough to fuel myself through class and into the workout. Let's see what happens tonight.

Welcome to the Rangers, Agnarr.

 

I spent countless hours researching the Ulfednar for some papers on Norse mythology back in university and during my Pagan Metal years, so I'm 100% on board with this challenge, my friend.

Just finished working out with my gorgeous SO. Today for the first time I stayed in the frog stance for 3secs (so far I had only managed to stay up to one second). W00T

Yeah, only with a few guys. But it is giving me usefull hints to solve the motivation issues: we need to have more beers together and not just see each other at events or training. They don't have a sence of companionship to get them going

Week 1 day 4

 

Last night I rocked my workout. My previous routine was

  • 1 lap for warmup
  • light stretch
  • 4 laps
  • rest
  • 4 laps
  • 1 lap of backswimm for cooling down
  • stretch

As I  was finishing the 4th lap I said to myself that I could keep on swimming. so, another lap. And I got into beast-mode: I ended up doing 6 extra laps, a total of 10 non-stop laps before it got late and I had to go home. That's 500m! which in adittion to the warmup lap and the cooldown lap makes for a total of 600m. If you consider the fact that less than two months ago I nearly drowned trying to swimm 3 laps non-stop, I 'd say it has been an improvement. My lats and shoulders are killing me :tongue:

Week 1 Day 5

Yesterday I worked on my "gymnastic" skills (exercises of progression towards the full planche) my upper body was thrashed but I'm making some steady progress so it's good. Today was swimming day and I crushed those 600m. Got a bit mad about other swimmers who selfishly decide to stretching IN THE MIDDLE OF THE EFFIN POOL. Cool week

Today I had an accident while exercising. I slipped on a patch of water/sweat and fell on my butt, hitting my sacrum right against the concrete floor. The pain is terrible, just like it usted to be months ago. I searched for my painkillers (I thought I wouldn't have to see those little bastards again) and now I'm prying for them to kick in fast. After spending months without pain(due to exercise and swimming) this amount of pain seems insane. I don't know how I beared with it for so long

Well. I couldn't take it anymore and ended up in the hospital. They had to inject me with painkillers and other stuff cause I couldn't even walk... wish me luck Rangers

Week 2 day 1

It's my second day without beeing able to get out of bed. Walking to the bathroom (3 meters more or less) has become a full minute shame-walk of mini steps while grinding my teeth to avoid any pain-induced sounds(in case you didn't noticed I have a gigantic foolish pride). I'm bored AF and the need to lift heavy stuff or do some calistenics is real.

Ouch. I hope it doesn't keep you out for long! You were just starting beast mode on your laps, it looks like. Is there anything you can do to keep the boredom at bay?

For now, studying for the exam I have tomorrow (asuming I'm able to actually reach college. It's an hour and a half train/bus trip). But the worst part is not being able to move whenever I want to

Sorry to hear of your accident. I hope you heal up fast so you can get back to your regular activities. Boredom is a terrible thing for a ranger to have to endure!

Were you able to make it to your exam?

I couldn't make it. But after a brief email exchange with the professor, they granted me the chance to take the exam next week.

Luckly I still have the Ranger forums to avoid boredom in the times when I'm not reading about professional ethics and psycho-therapy on teenagers

Oh no.  Sorry about the accident.  Take it easy and don't rush the workouts.  DO you think if you could make it to the pool that at least being in the pool would help with the pain?  I'm not thinking getting back to the 600m you were able to get to but maybe just some stretching in the pool or a couple easy laps?  Regardless, I hope you get better soon.
