Hi, made it to basketball training again today and was really pleased with myself.

I think I am the oldest guy there but even with the coach's new focus on fitness I felt like I outlasted most of them, staying on the court longer and even outpacing some of the 16 yr olds down the court.

So long live the rebellion!

(I think part of it was the deck of pain workouts, as they are nonstop with no rest periods so should be improving my conditioning - although I'm dead now).

Well, I don't think it's very scientific and obviously won't target all the muscle groups in the optimum way, but it's not like I'm actually entering a bodybuilding competition and need to follow a perfect plan.

I want to be stronger and fitter, and this just seemed like a cool way to run a challenge and mix it up a bit.

Another deck of pain this evening. The cards weren't on my side today (or maybe they were!?)

It was almost non stop decline push ups interspersed with Pike pushups. Only one set of squats to break it up and finish with a King for leg raises. Did alright but I do need to think about my warmup and cool down a bit more, just keep forgetting.

Only done about 1 minute of squats today though.

JUAREZ VALLEY, WTF !? I Have new found respect for Scotty's burpee challenges. I am literally dead. And I cheated on a fair few, I was doing more than 5 steps between (I was sort of walking around the dog) and a lot of them turned into slow mountain climbers on the higher sets, but I more or less did it (~200 in ~ 30 mins)

Well I think it's 200 , 20 then 19 then 18 ... I work that out as 10x20

I can't really say if it was worth it yet, as this is the first time. I really don't want to lose weight but I do want to increase my stamina and this type of relentless pain should be good for that. And the jumps might help my legs to have the energy to still get in the air after an hour of basketball.

Thanks I must admit that even early on, some of them were definitely not good form and a fair few were mountain climbers when my legs really didn't feel like jumping back.

I'm a little late to your thread.... But as always.. so far behind.  

 

I love your challenge.  We did the Deck Of pain workout for a weekly challenge during the last PVP.  It was tough.  we used the jokers to do 20 burpees as well.  NOT FUN.  but effective.  And we were going for the most points or until someone died.

Those burpee challenges, though.  Kudos to you no matter how you get those done.  I'm not sure how Scotty does it either.

Wow! you are really killing it! Great that your workouts are kind of knocking you out. Should build a lot of strength. I don't know anything about building bulk though.

Your burpee workout is tempting...

Go on do it ! I'd be honestly really impressed with anyone that manages the whole thing with strict burpees.

Cool, the Doodlies are always trailblazing ! I think throwing in burpees with my deck of pain, would really kill me.

One thing is that I may have overdone the squats. My left knee is sort of clicking again so I'll have to go down a progression on those I think.

I have knee problems too and scaling that back down a bit is a good idea.  On good days doing squats are fine, on others I have to do some assisted squats.  That's far better than making it angry and barely being able to walk for a week.

Basketball training last night was only an hour but it seemed tougher than last week, perhaps I haven't eaten as well this week.

Managed to do another deck of pain tonight, the cards were really out for me this time. It was all high numbered pike pushups.
