Reading as reward for working out?

Not getting enough sleep is the. Worst. I'm so non functional without a bare minimum of 7 hrs, and that's pushing it. God forbid it happens more than once in a week. So yes. To bed early tonight!

Lol that's definitely my rallying cry. To bed!

Except I don't really want anybody coming with me XP

Tapatalk has changed my NF life...I can keep up now! Unfortunately there is a corresponding decrease in cell battery life booo.

BTW I took my pre-challenge photos but am hanging onto them until I have better ones to compare them to ^_^

So glad to see your challenge! I kind of disappeared last challenge, so didn't keep up with others very well. I love the fierceness of your goals. I think you are ready for some serious progress this time around.

Went to red robin for my birthday burger (a few weeks late but just has to be the right month), ate at the bar. Ordered the margarita because I felt too awk just getting my free burger *sigh* took most of my fries home because I wasn't hungry enough to finish it all. Lesson: next year go with someone else. Though sitting at the bar by myself generally is a good exercise in talking to strangers.

Happy belated birthday!!! You are right about sitting at a bar alone...unless everyone around you buries into their cell phones (happened to me recently at an airport bar. Pissed me off).

BTW I took my pre-challenge photos but am hanging onto them until I have better ones to compare them to ^_^

Seems entirely fair to me. The photos are mostly for you anyway.

Going by yourself does make it weird and awkward. I still get strange looks every time I go out to a movie or dinner by myself. Sometimes I can even hear people talking about that "poor girl whos date stood her up." But glad you enjoyed your burger and who knows maybe next time you can make an awesome friend with a stranger.  Im with you on the photos. Ive taken my photos. Ones of me in the clothes Ill be using for comparison and the requisites shorts and sports bra pic that lets me see my body without hiding it so I can see the changes. Just use them to inspire you and in 6 weeks Im sure youll have some amazing post challenge you ones to compare to!

So badass. Perhaps I shall take a picture in this pose at the end of the challenge HA

Week 1 Day 1

Have to admit that last challenge starting late threw me off...it's so much easier to remember where I am in the challenge when I start on Monday.

Breakfast - tuna egg salad, GF crackers

Lunch - Hawaiian BBQ chicken, char siu, rice, cucumbers

Post-WO - prosciutto

Dinner - macaroni salad, glass of wine, sweet potato fries w/mayo

Had the fries left over from Red Robin, and the Hawaiian BBQ and macaroni from yesterday (got an extra plate for takeout, realizing I wasn't going to have time to do a Sunday night cook). Barely squeezed in the veggies. Not an ideal day by far, but since my fridge is full of protein and produce I know my diet will clean up over the next day or so.

I was going to properly cook dinner, but the apartmentmates were cooking up a storm and trying to figure out how to fix the dish disposal. They apparently dump veg remnant into it on the reg so...yeah. I don't understand why do that instead of tossing them into the trash?

Fun fact: Prosciutto has more protein than fat, gram-wise...even though it tastes like all fat. A 'serving' (1/4 of the pack I got from TJ's) has 7g of protein, vs an egg which has 6. Half a pack of prosciutto miiiight be my new favorite post-workout snack.

Felt foggy all day due to missed sleep, perhaps influenced by the weather (RAINNNNN falling in California yay). Went to boot camp! It was full-body day, only took 35min but I'm still counting it.

The longer I think about it the more ambitious my rucking goals get O_O I start thinking...I could ruck the 3mi to boot camp and back after...or ruck the 5mi to a 5mi hike and back. Crazy? We'll see. The main obstacle to my newfound love of rucking is darkness. DARKNESS IS THE ENEMY. The streets around here are well lit and there are plenty of cars, but few pedestrians.

Workout: Check

Cravings: Check

Strength: Working on this via boot camp

Loving the rucking ambition! I'm kind of jealous. Walking with any significant weight inevitably sets off my asthma, but I suppose there's only one way to work on that...

Darkness sucks though. It's already getting dark at like 4:45 here. I hate it.

When I see recipes with prosciutto I always think they look delicious, but for some reason the only way I end up eating it is straight up. Nom.

Yikes I probably wouldn't do it in that case...I don't think I have asthma, but cigarette smoke makes me wheezy and my chest feels tight. Hate smoke, blech

Gross weather out made me want to just crawl into bed when I got home...but instead I got ready for boot camp on autopilot. Had to force myself to not think about it too hard or I would have talked myself out of going. It's upper body day, class starts shortly. Afterwards planning to make broccoli-potato soup as a rainy weather antidote. We'll see how I handle the FODMAP...

Mmm...soup. I need to make my creamy onion soup recipe to enjoy with this rainy fall weather. Seeing you talk about broccoli potato soup.....it's either the creamy onion or some sweet potato and bacon creamy soup. Both have their advantages. Hmm. Glad you got yourself to go even if you're on auto-pilot. I've had days where I don't want to do anything. If the rain keeps up I may hit that later this week. Hopefully I can be as awesome as you and push my own ass out the door. How was class anyways? What kind of exercises and workouts do y'all do on upper body day? I love hearing about what other people do for workouts and maybe trying new things. Some of the best ways to workout is having fun. Its why I can't wait to really get into rucking. It looks like tons of fun!

Hmm I'm off onions now but SWEET POTATO BACON sounds right up my alley.

Week 1 Day 2

Rainy rainy rainy day.

Breakfast-tomato soup w/turkey meatballs

Lunch-Kahlua pork, char siu, rice

Post-WO- prosciutto

Dinner-broccoli potato soup with an egg, glass of wine

Slowly getting the veggies in there...ideally I'll have them every meal. Right now my fridge is so full. I still have mayo, leftover tomato/meatball soup, broccoli soup, saag paneer. And rice that will become fried rice in a couple days. And a chicken to roast. It's a good problem to have :)

Workout - boot camp

Today was upper body day. The circuit included skull crushers, jumping jacks with light dumbells, overhead presses with weight sacks, bandsaws (plank position move fwd and back), up-and-downs (from high plank to forearm plank), and pushups. My abs are sore from yesterday, and today we did...more abs. So we'll see how I feel tomorrow. I'd like to make the 5am boot camp so I have time to ruck in the evening, but I'm not going to force myself to get up if I'm too tired. Need sleep for recovery with the increase in workout frequency.

Pantry use-up: 4pts (broth for soup, tomatoes for soup, rice)

Story behind the job change...I work for a large company, and up until now I've been part of the rotational program for new hires. Now I need to find my post-program job, which would be simple if I wanted to go back to somewhere I've worked before...but I don't. So i basically need to apply and interview for different positions in the company. I had my first interview on Thursday, and it went well, but the content of the interview made me doubt that I actually want the post. I'm debating whether taking on a high-stress, high-visibility position vs a more low-key, less challenging position. As much as I like a challenge, I'm not that invested in my career because most likely in a few years I'll become a stay at home mom...and eventually get a job doing something else. Unlike my bf, I'm not passionate about this industry. But I'll stick it out a few more years because the pay is decent and I'm saving up for retirement and our safety cushion as a single-income family.

Hiroro, definitely YES on the fierce post-challenge photo. Do it!! If you are brave enough, get someone else to take it for you. It will be easier to get a good one.

maybe you'll stumble across someone else interested in rucking. Sounds like the dark wouldn't be so bad if you were with someone else. Does anyone in your bootcamp class like rucking?? Might take a while to figure that out, but who knows.

Just woke up at 4:30 for boot camp. Part of me is like 'this is how you burn out!' But part of me is like yessssss this is a great idea. Its chilly this early, but at least that wakes me up. :)

Eek so at boot camp everyone seems to know each other, which is a bit intimidating but I am slowwwwly introducing myself to a couple people.
