I didn't plan properly for a day of volunteering, and ate too many carbs. So much bloating, gah. Woke up super early after a terrible night's sleep.

How is it week 5 already? Slipped away from me so quickly...

Was planning to get some rucking in this weekend, but I am probably most definitely coming down with something  :nightmare: with all the sick people I've been around, guess it was inevitable. Just focusing on getting lots of fluids and resting.

While I was sick my diet got a little haywire....ice cream and bread were involved. The ice cream felt good on my sore throat, but I definitely overdid it. No exercise yet this week, I haven't been sleeping enough/well which is likely delaying my recovery. Aches/lightheadedness/exhaustion abound

Week 5 Day 7

Things I ate: mochi, chocolate covered bananas, ice cream, bread with butter and olive oil

Lost to the cravings

Week 6 Day 1

Things I ate: ice cream...I don't remember what else

Week 6 Day 2

Felt way better. Things I ate: roasted sweet potatoes and carrots, ice cream, green beans, 2 deviled eggs, peppers

Went to my cousin's live taping (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and they had catered food. After eating like crap for a few days, resisting the baked goods wasn't so hard.

Week 6 Day 3

Breakfast-butternut squash soup

Lunch-mortadella

Dinner-2 bowls broccoli soup with butter, bacon fat (the butter added wayyy more flavor than the bacon fat)

Week 6 Day 4

Ate exactly the same as Day 3.

Haven't been hungry the last couple days, likely due to not working out so minimal physical activity. Monday I felt like I was healing, and Tuesday I felt 90%, but not sleeping enough has kept me feeling tired. Enough fatigue to not work out, but not enough to drive me to bed earlier? I know it doesn't quite make sense. Going to get ready for bed as soon as I finish this post.

Week 6 Day 5

Holiday party at work. So proud of myself for avoiding all of the cookies and pies and candy (I ate ONE M&M in a moment of social anxiety). There was catered BBQ, passed up the mac and cheese but ate the mashed potatoes (which probably had cheese and stuff). AND as a volunteer I managed to scavenge half of a brisket...5+lb of delicious cooked meat sitting in my fridge right now. Since meat is the most expensive ingredient it's pretty exciting :)

Breakfast-cup butternut squash soup

Lunch-roasted sweet potatoes and carrots

Misc-3 chocolate covered pumpkin seeds, one M&M

Dinner-brisket, ham, green beans, potatoes (servings were very moderate, as usual with catered meals)

I feel so much better after eating cleaner the last few days. I'm still not getting great sleep for no apparent reason...maybe need exercise. About to head out on a ruck, so that will be logged in my Day 6.

I find myself enduring similar feelings and a lack of sleep from time to time.  The longer it goes on the more sleep debt I seem to accrue.  Try a low-intensity exercise with a couple hours of bed.  Not enough to put your nervous system into overdrive, but enough that you body craves the rest and recuperation.

Week 6 Day 6

I tend to not finish challenges strong...but this time's the exception! Killed it today.

Breakfast-few bites of brisket

Lunch-more brisket (had to run out the door)

Dinner-curry with chicken, carrot, potato, a little rice and curry fried rice, one chicken wing

Workout-10.6mi ruck ...yay! Except blister on the sole of my foot boooo

Cravings-yup

Strength-nope

Made gingerbread houses with my cousins, and ate none of the candy. It helped that I'm not a huge fan of non-chocolate stuff, plus I'm a chocolate snob. But it was certainly tempting to just cram a handful of M&M's in my mouth. No slip-ups, no regrets. And takeout dinner was so delicious that I didn't feel deprived at all.

One more day in this challenge, and I'm already excited for the next one! Have to do a RuckWOD tomorrow to finish the PVP.

Apparently the ice cream was a pretty good idea :-)

Congratulations on a strong finish! You've dealt with a lot this challenge, and it's great that you've finished healthy, eating well, and with some solid rucking effort.

And because you have earned a cute picture:

Week 6 Day 7

Breakfast-lemon water

Lunch-chashu with potatoes

Snacks-samples of paleo granola, marshmallows, chocolate, jerky

Dinner-bowl of ramen with chashu, egg, bamboo

RuckWOD: 5 rounds for time: 10 squats, 10 incline pushups, plank to failure. 9min total.

Went to a craft fair to hang out with my cousin and her bf. Bummed around Little Tokyo a bit. Not as clean eating as the days prior, but given my icky cramps it wasn't bad...better than my standard monthly mouthfuls of chocolate and way too many bowls of rice porridge.

Week 6 wrapup

Workouts-2

Cravings-5/7

Strength-nope nope nope

Challenge wrapup is coming. This was a tough one...don't think I've ever had life get so much in the way before, but I kept rucking. Going to focus on habits and healthy routines next challenge. And the things that fell by the wayside this time, like the strength and purging. ALL THE THINGS!

And one more time, I want to say say thanks you guys for sticking around and keeping me company even though I basically stopped posting on anybody's thread but my own.

We're here for you, just keep rucking, get the other stuff in order, and everything will fall into place. I want to congratulate you on NOT GIVING UP. That's a huge deal, and how I know you're going to succeed over time.

Post-challenge:

Monday

Lunch-chicken curry with a little rice

Dinner-chocolate

Tuesday

Lunch-brisket

Dinner-brisket

Wednesday

Snack-almonds

Lunch-brisket, broccoli soup with butter

Dinner-chocolate

Workout-run

Thursday

Lunch-brisket, tomato soup

Snack-one maple butter dark chocolate, one bite chocolate frosting/cake

Dinner-chocolate, meatballs with tomato sauce

It looks bad (chocolate everywhere!), but I've been trying something a bit different. I'm not really purposefully doing IF, but I recognize that in the morning my stomach is sensitive. So in the morning I just have hot water with lemon, and by the time lunchtime comes around I'm properly hungry for lunch. I'm working on listening to my body and controlling my portions. I've actually lost a couple pounds...I've seen the 140's on the scale again this week!

Christmas Eve Workout

Hotel tiny tiny gym workout...

3 rounds:

Squats/curls/presses x10 @15lb each hand

Single arm snatches (I think) x10/side @20lb, @25lb last round

Sumo squats x10 @20lb, @25lb last round

Twists x50 @8lb ball

Lunges x10/side

Big ball crunches x10

Big ball side crunches x10/side

Big ball back crunches x10

Plus a little extra...

100 punches

90 blocks

10 palm strikes

some boxing moves

Worked up a good sweat.

I've been walking a fair amount and moderating my eating...family trip to Napa has meant lots of wine. I overdid the chips and cookies yesterday, made me feel ill. Chips are definitely a food with no brakes for me. Have to remember to drink tea instead of eating just because the food is there.

I finally, slowly feel like I'm gaining a better awareness of my own hunger. My brain-stomach connection has been messed up so long due to IBS...but I actually don't remember the last time I had a bad episode. The frequent mild discomfort persists, but it's a huge, huge win to not have the cramps/chills/exhaustion. Life is good.

Headed to Cancun in 3 days!

Will definitely look over my challenge results before then. Gotta add up the stat points :)
