athousandwords
Well guys, it’s three days past the challenge start date and I’m just now getting my challenge goals up. I think that’s pretty indicative of what kind of challenge this is going to be. This challenge includes 1 US holiday, 1 week long vacation, and 1 killer deadline for work. Which makes it the perfect time to step back a little from my weight loss goal and focus on maintaining what I’ve achieved while dealing with stress, vacation temptations, and family visiting. I won’t be updating nearly as much as I usually do (weekly instead of daily maybe?), my challenge goals are significantly cut back from previous challenges, and I’m not setting a life goal this time. All in all, I hope to be back in full fighting form come January, but I don’t want to over-exert myself now and fall back to old habits. All goals will be measured by how many weeks achieved.A = 5-6 weeksB = 4 weeksC = 3 weeksD = 2 weeksF = 0-1 weeks Goal 1: Make a meal plan every week(CON 3, WIS 2) Goal 2: Exercise 3 times a week (STR 2, STA 2, DEX 1)Qualifying exercise can be: biking, 5k steps, strength training, bodyweight workout, etc. Goal 3: Practice yoga for at least 20 minutes, 3 times a week (DEX 3, WIS 2) So that’s it – a nice, easy challenge while I deal with the rest of life. 5 Quote Level 13 Ravenclaw Rebel "Eat food. athousandwords
Okay Week 1 didn't go so great. I'm having a hard time not diving off the deep end and just ignoring my challenge goals all together. Goal 1: Make a meal plan every week - DONE Goal 2: Exercise 3 times a week - NOPE Goal 3: Practice yoga for at least 20 minutes, 3 times a week - NOPE Yikes. I did yoga 2x last week but just couldn't get motivated to do that last session. I'm finding it really hard to get out of bed in the morning early to practice. Even though I appreciate it when I do. Didn't get any exercise in last week, and probably won't this week either.... I'm hoping to get a lot of walking in while on vacation and kickstarting my fitness back up for the last half of the challenge. I weighed myself this morning and I'm still maintaining, so even if it's not the best, healthiest lifestyle I think I'm doing okay. But I'll be happy when this crazy month is over and I get some structure and routine back in my life! 4 Quote Level 13 Ravenclaw Rebel "Eat food. Not too much. athousandwords
Aaaannnnndddd..... I'm back! Sorry about completely dropping off for the last two weeks. I meant to update before I left on vacation, but my to-do list was crushing me with a million last minute things I needed to get done before I left. I wish I could say I'm now well-rested and completely ready to take on the last half of this challenge - but in all honesty I'm dead tired and already dreading how much I need to do before hosting Thanksgiving in just four days. The trip was exhausting (I was usually up and already at the parks by 8am, and not in bed til midnight most days, plus we walked well over 7 miles every day!) but it was the good kind of exhausting. I had so much fun with my husband and his family, revisiting our favorite Disney rides and experiencing Universal for the first time. Ok, enough talking (writing?)... have some pics! Since you all followed along with my Disneybound outfits during the last challenge, I wanted to share how they came out: Woody and Buzz was one of my favorites - we stood in line for almost an hour (!) to get these photos but it was worth it. The character actors were so excited to see us dressed up that they gave us both big hugs and took tons of silly pictures with us. The was our first day in the park and it completely made all the effort worthwhile. I liked our Aladdin/Jasmine Disneybound, but the pictures didn't really turn out that well thanks to some bad lighting in their photo spot. The second picture we took with the signature Epcot ball turned out a lot better.Snow White and Prince Charming was hands down the best outfit I did. So many people walked up to me in the park to compliment me on my Snow White inspired look, and kids kept asking me if I was really a princess. Doesn't get any better than that, folks! My husband didn't fare as well... people kept mistaking him for Grumpy! Finally, our Hogwarts costumes really made for a magical day in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The character actors were so much fun to interact with; they kept scolding us for being out of classing and skiving off to drink Butterbeer. I got chosen for the Ollivander's wand experience (which almost never happens if you're an adult - they usually choose kids) because we were chatting in line about how I'd lost my wand during an unfortunate Quidditch match. Needless to say, we got home with our pockets fairly emptied of all our galleons and sickles. As for the challenge run-down... they only thing I can really say I kept up with is exercise, thanks to all that walking. I did some yoga when I could (my shoulders and back were hurting almost every day) but didn't get up early enough to manage it most days. And of course, my meal planning went right out the window thanks to Butterbeer, amazing Disney restaurants, and the Epcot Wine & Food festival. The rest of this week I'm planning to put together a meal plan (though most of will be Thanksgiving related), get back into my 3x a week yoga, and... well, we'll see about that exercise. Maybe I can get my family to go on a hike to burn off that turkey and pie. Hope everyone else is doing well with their challenges - I'll try to get around and see how you all are doing later today! 8 Quote Level 13 Ravenclaw Rebel "Eat food. Not too much.
