Rangers Gonna Ranger: The Official Mini-Challenge

Not me! In high school I tried to play KOTOR as a Sith after 3 light side characters, and I just could not do it. I suffered through making a few mean-spirited comments to my teammates, and then I was supposed to slaughter an immigrant family and I gave up and went light side again. [emoji14]

I'm a little more comfortable being "grey" now than I used to, but I still seem to tend towards light side in gaming.

Off on my dog walk scouting! :)

Same here. Being evil in games can be "easy" when it comes to hitting goals but actually RPing through them totally kills it for me. I tend to go towards chaotic good/walk the line of neutral.

My real world morality is somewhat grey to begin with, so I similarly prefer to roleplay in shades of grey.  That's probably why I enjoyed the hell out of my Bounty Hunter on SW: TOR so much.

The space between Lawful Neutral and Chaotic Neutral is my bread and butter!

Dog walk = success! Noticed nearly 60 pumpkins, 3 of which were white, 4 of which were still growing out of the ground, and 4 of which were doing this:

Week 1: I have a 9k night race scheduled for Wednesday. It's not timed and I don't have prior data for 9k races, so I'll use my own timer and hope it doesn't give up halfway in. I recently did a 10k in 55', which yields an average speed of 181.8m/minute. That means using the same pace, 9k should take 49,5'. My goal for Week 1 will be to do those 9k in under 49,5 minutes.

I never expected Adidas to put its name under such a badly organized event. This was supposedly done in light of Sunday's upcoming classic Marathon (while in the process getting a massive list of participant e-mails so that the company can send out promotional spam). Info said to be there at 19:00 and when I did, the place was packed with people waiting to pick up bibs, drop stuff and some random passers-by who applied on the spot. After a long wait and shoving around, since people round these parts apparently have no concept of waiting lines, I got my number and dropped the stuff.

Organizers called for the faster folks to go ahead and the first group left. Okay, I'm no champion and this isn't timed, relax. That's when I see various signs held up. Second group leaves and I hear from the speakers that every group has a leader in front with the sign and you're not supposed to go ahead of them. I check for the nearest sign, labelled simply "Jogging/Walking". Well, crap. Had to shove my way ahead -thank you years of metal concerts- and start with the 6,5-7m/km pace group. Of course, down the way none of that made sense and everyone ran their own way. Oh, also, the 4 and 9 km racers left all together in the same packs with the latter simply doing the course twice. You can imagine how packed round 1 was.

So we're off and I realize no roads have been cut out. All those people are night-racing on the narrow pavement. With poles and pillars and passersby around. The course takes us around the historical center and although it's nice to run under the nightlights of the Acropolis, racing the narrow alleys of tourist shops around, isn't. There was probably some degree of up or down incline on every part of the route and the ground was either cracked pavement or cobblestone pedestrian roads. It felt more like a trail run with a lot of peopledodging thrown in for good measure. Because yes, we raced up the central commercial street, packed with people thanks to the holiday sales starting a couple of days ago. As if that wasn't enough, on two or three occasions we had to stop, wait for other runners to catch up and then the traffic warden would cut off the traffic for us to cross the street. Goodbye time, goodbye pace, hello cramps for no bloody reason.

I crossed the finish line at 50' according to my phone, so including the breaks, I probably made my goal. Not that I kept a faster pace, just a few sprint bursts here and there. Dodging people had me so unfocused I was dizzy and wasted by the start of round 2. After crossing the finish line, runners were left to fend for themselves with just a water stand hidden somewhere in the background. Finished, stretched, changed and walked it off. Never again.

That race sounds freaking INSANE!! That shit would absolutely never fly in NYC.

But ... Good on you for sticking it out; and the next trail run/other kind of craziness that comes up won't seem so daunting - you've already done it, and in the worst of conditions.

Cheerful Dame continued with her training as usual. She noticed some of the other recruits making preparations to join the reaction force, and that others had already left. She was in no hurry, as she realized that the most interesting objects in the tomb had probably already been removed by the explorers. She decided to wait and continue to observe. She decided to walk around camp, just to see & hear what was being said.

I don't really know much about the Star Wars Universe, and have never participated in any form of role playing, so I am keeping the story line relatively simple.

Week 1 Challenge: My personal challenge already includes doing some form of walking/running/hiking/biking,etc. 2X per week. This week, I will up the movement days to 3 days instead of the two.

What a mess! Nice work toughing it out. That sounds like hell to me, but I'm not much of a distance runner so I'm especially biased... :)

Guilty!  :redface-new:

I've always thought of myself as leaning toward Neutral with my own moral code, but going by that Alignment Chart I'm definitely more Mara Jade pre-Jedi than I am Cade Skywalker, and as much as I love Boba Fett, he's quite a bit more merciless than I am.  Lawful Neutral with a penchant for the Chaotic, maybe... :pirate:

I never expected Adidas to put its name under such a badly organized event.

Wow, man.  That sounds rough!  Great work on crushing it nonetheless, disorganization and chaos notwithstanding.

I don't really know much about the Star Wars Universe, and have never participated in any form of role playing, so I am keeping the story line relatively simple.

That's okay.  The storyline and RP is entirely optional.  It just lends some flavor for those of us who crave immersion along with your goals and challenges.

That sounds like a horribly organized race. Sorry you had to suffer through that. Hopefully next time you rrace it'll be better for you. Or at least not make you dizzy and/or painful. I've been to Greece a few times in my travel, can't imagine tons of people running the streets at night near the Acropolis like you said. lol. Not sure why they thought that was a good idea.

That really sucked Raider. In Aussie parlance we'd say the organisers 'Couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.'

On alignment in games I would go from chaotic good through to chaotic neutral.

Late to the party, but HERE WE GO.  Creating a bit of an out-of-character-character for me, as we MUST BRING BALANCE TO THE FORCE...

THE CHARACTER SHEET

Character Name: Rezz

Alignment: Dark Jedi
Race: Human
Class: Rogue
Occupation: Saboteur, Soldier of Fortune
Force Skills: Lightening bolts, Punching people with the Force.

General Knowledge: Explosives, Hijacking tech

Lightsaber: Orange

Week 1: So, I've been bike commuting here in NYC since the beginning of the last challenge, but last night I challenged myself to go on my longest ride yet, and go all the way to my archery class in Brooklyn.  It ended up being a harrowing 2-hour ride, with bridges hills and trucks and me getting lost and oh man the DOMS are so real today.  But I did it!  Rangered the shit out of that :D

"So, how fast does it go?"

Rezz rested one foot on the stirrup of the hoverbike and pushed, feeling the give of the magnetic lift as the dealer crossed his arms.

"Regulations say you can take it up to 120.  Acceleration will take you there in 4 seconds, but regulations say..."

"I didn't ask how fast I'm allowed to go,"  Rezz murmured, running a gloved hand over the matte black chassis, "I asked: how fast it can go.  Big difference, see?"

"Well, strictly speaking..." the dealer began, then jumped back as Rezz swung one leg over the bike.

"What are you doing?  Get off, get off at once!"

Rezz glanced over the controls, gunned the engine once, then turned to the dealer, one hand outstretched.

"I've got to be halfway across this ass-crack of a planet in a matter of hours, friend.  I think this will do the trick.  Any objections if I just...ride off?"

The dealer flinched as a jagged strand of lightening began playing over Rezz's fingertips.  He swallowed, then shook his head.

"Whoever you are...just go.  Get out of my shop."

Rezz closed the hand into a fist, letting the lightening die out as she flicked a few switches, winked at the dealer, then shot out the door of the hangar, leaving only a high-pitched sound in her wake.  The dealer slumped back across his desk, grumbling.  Then he jerked his head back up as a beeping sound began to echo in the sudden silence of the hangar.  Scrambling for the source of the sound, he pushed aside the cargo boxes just as the timer on the device reached zero...

Terah takes a deep breath and does what she can. Knowing that the Jedi leaders and her clan are watching, she eases into motion. It's isn't easy because she is recovering from an injury. Watching the others is hard because they move with such strength and grace. But Terah knows that she can improve and become stronger everyday. She is walking farther distances every day and plans to perform a surveillance walkabout in the local village shortly.

Updating on the walking and recovery mode stuff!  Walking more and more every day. For something new I'll attend a Ju-Jitsu class on Saturday to learn some new self-defence rangerly moves!  I've got more exercised to do from the physical therapists too.  Do all the things!

6.8 miles walking, 4.25 running so far for the week.  That gets me to just over 11 miles for the week, and it's only Thursday morning :)  I'm going to show that evil master who's the real sith around here!

Another 2 miles between last night and this morning.  That brings it to 8.8 miles walking, 4.25 running.  And, I get to go for a trail run today, so I'll be busting that goal for sure!
