Update: 28.02.16

 

Tomorrow I am restarting, using the current challenge as my baseline for my quests.  I have deleted most of this original post & edited it with more relevant information, as it was getting a little cluttered.

 

 

 

My aims:

 

Reach a body-weight of 200 lb (from 170 lb)

 

200 lb is approximately 90 kg, my new weight class I will be fighting in for Judo.  I will aim to have reached 200 lb by the end of this year.

 

Decrease my body-fat

 

I will continue with this aim for now.   Using my restart to remove the fat I have put on in the past couple months.

 

Move towards a paleo lifestyle

 

This aim stays in place too.  Mostly it is cleaning up my diet and removing the rubbish I have been taking over the past couple of months.

[Day 3/∞]

 

Gonna update now, as I have Judo from 20.30-22.00, and meeting my coach for an hour before, so I doubt I will be up for much internetting afterwards.  Anyway, I went to the physio today for my neck and its very stiff and stuff because I was dropped on my head in training last week (woo) but I will just keep icing it and stretching it and it'll work its way back to normal hopefully.  I can imagine it taking a while.  I'll take it easy on the mat, but I will still compete in the next solid month.  Gonna be heavy.

 

WRT food I have already had 3254/3000 calories today.  Had two large middle meals, and an extra protein smoothie.  I hopefully won't have much after Judo.  I had to estimate the contents of a sandwich I had from a shop near uni as they just make them as you order etc, and I may have over estimated, but I will be getting the tuna next time instead of the meat feat, and probably the brown knot instead of the white knot roll too.  (Another long day of uni tomorrow)...

Awful long day of uni combined with a good judo session in the evening. Doing a bit of an all nighter in uni for an assignment, and will be in uni all day tomorrow too. Competition on Saturday, haven't even thought about it to be perfectly honest. Eaten a bit better today but a lot of sugar. Made my meal 4 on MFP as my snacking whilst in uni. Next week should be better. Can't wait until Tuesday and this work handed in.

9 hours of sleep in two nights, thanks uni. Up early for competition tomorrow.  Isn't uni life fun.  Food intake getting progressively worse the longer I am in uni and not spending any time at home.

 

Definitely need a kick in the backside.  Or 12.  Gonna have to sort my game out.  10am-4am in uni is not ideal.

Yesterday's update...

I had 14 hours sleep in 3 nights, then going to a competition? Yeah good one. Lost my three fights (one against someone from my uni, who I foolishly showed all my competition techniques to two days before and the fight could have gone either way anyway, one to a guy at least 30kg heavier than me, cus I was somehow the 2nd heaviest 1st Kyu, and one against a guy from a nearby uni of which we have both given each other a run for our money in randori before). Didn't care about getting points. Just wanted to see how I fought after my mistakes at the great north open, and I have evolved and know what I need to fine tune now.

Edit: a body weight of 80.4kg and I'm pretty pleased with that.

Was meant to meet everyone after going home for a shower in the evening, ended up waking up fully clothed on my floor ext to my judo bag at 5am. Maybe I have over worked myself with this assignment...

Finally an update on time!

 

 

Okay so, my food has been fairly good today, given the past few days of sleeplessness and a bit of a hiccup in the food intake.  I have decided I am going to slightly change my goals (and into more manageable ones) so I shall update my original post to do that.  Was going to go to the gym today but I do believe that I should rest.  Hopefully I should feel better in the next couple of days.

[Day 10/∞]

 

Spent a lot of time looking at food stuff for knowledge, had a mediocre Judo session.  Injury isn't good and it is putting me off going to the gym.  I think I am still competing on Saturday at the Dan grading in York, even though I am not feeling it.  Afterwards I have just training for 2 weeks, before 2 competitions one day after another.  During that 2 week gap (hopefully near the start of it) I will book a massage at a physio or massage place.  Hopefully it'll reduce the stiffness of my back and neck and maybe even reduce the swelling.  Couldn't guess how long this could take.  Not happy right now.  Not one bit.

Hit the gym yesterday and did chest and shoulders.  Incline bench and then bench press, and then shoulder press to keep my upper back/neck moving a bit so it doesn't stiffen up too much.  Went out and had a mcdonalds after which wasn't good but I have barely gone out in the past few weeks so I am doing well I'd say.

Had a 3 hour judo session.  A lot of technical.  A lot of groundwork randori, and a little bit of standing (mostly just working with the lower grades and resisting/letting them set up counters and see what works for them).  Tiring but good.  Lots of chicken.  Felt good.

[Day 14/∞]

 

 

Had 3 fights in my pools.  Lost my first pretty much straight away.  Second fight I won with a makikomi against a short 116kg fighter.  Won my third fight with a left handed o-soto-gari/gake counter to his attempt at the same throw.  Didn't think it was ippon to be honest.

 

Had a line up after a long wait (as usual in Judo..)  two smaller guys and one big guy.  Won the first and second by hold down after mini counters to their attacks.  The second one tried to choke me but I just held it and it wasn't an issue.  Third fight, took a bit longer, went on the ground, he tried to get a strangle but I defended until matte.  I went for a fake throw to see if I could open him up for an uchi-mata, didn't seem ideal, so I threw for ippon with a makikomi.

 

 

That's it.  My 100 points for my Dan grade I definitely did not expect to get.  Just brilliant really.  Haven't done technical, but I shall do ASAP and then I will officially be a 1st Dan in Judo!

No gym today, aching from back workout and exhuasted from solid uni work.  Starting to put more work towards the paleo lifestyle I dream of, and will be putting more effort into that in the coming weeks.  Currently in the middle of level 4 of the NFA nutrition module.  Aiming for 10.  No idea when that will happen.  Might add some smaller aims onto my OP.  Actually yeah.  Why not.
