We made really good progress for a long time, and then she got snapped at by a dog at a dog park and then after the dog snapped at her the owner hit her. That was a year ago and we still haven't recovered fully from it.

wait, what?! the other owner hit madi??

 

there are so many things in your threads that i should be doing with my dog. just remember you're awesome to be giving her the love, attention, and training she needs!

there are so many things in your threads that i should be doing with my dog. just remember you're awesome to be giving her the love, attention, and training she needs!

 

 

I missed that the first time. Someone hit your dog? After THEIR dog snapped at her? Um? What? That is.... not an acceptable response.

 

Especially for a dog as adorable as Madi. Seeing her in pictures on your Instagram warms my cold, currently dog-less heart.

 

Yeah. Unfortunately - she was 7 months old at the time, it was an adult dog and she ran over to it and jumped on it, playfully, but didn't give a proper greeting. It startled the other dog, that snapped at her, so she reacted, and the dog's owner pulled madi away and hit her. 

 

Reallllllly terrible situation all around. We don't go to dog parks anymore, it's not worth the risk.

definitely a terrible situation and completely inappropriate. ugh, sorry you guys had to go through that! i would absolutely lose my sh*t if someone did that to TJ.

Under what circumstances do you hit somebody else's dog?  (let alone puppy)

 

Hitting the offending puppy's owner / parent / human companion is another matter.

 

Challenging her to a deadlifting duel is more honorable.

As might some owners. Hitting my dog would be a good way to get yourself hit.

Last 2 days workouts:

Yesterday -

Bench 155, 3x7 (3 sets of 7 is how I'm notating)

5 second pause bench 135 5x3

Dips 3x8

Db obp 30x3x8

Today

Deadlift

6x1@8 RPE (315, 325, 335, 345, 315, 315). Focusing on form over all else - heaviest i have gone since injury :)

3" Deficit deadlift - 225 for 3 sets of 5

I also agree leash free dog parks are not worth the risk.  I have one rescue with a little puppy PTSD and another that is fine with dogs but may not respond well to humans.  

 

They used to be my running partners and some of the worst shin splints ever have been from their poor leash skills causing me to have to lean back against their pulling.

Looks like a good workout. How did the deadlift feel?

 

heavier than it should feel for that weight, but better than last week, and last week I did 6 singles at 315, and this week I did 3 singles above 315 - so progress? 225 felt lighter than it's felt in months, and that was at a 3" deficit double overhand, so that's a plus - and is encouraging that I'll get back up to the 4's soon.

yeah, i've had too many bad experiences. and most of the time not with the dogs, with their humans :)

 

i wish there was a good place I could rent to let her play fetch. that's her favorite game. i might look into that.

Just bring her here and use the dog run behind my apartment. Most most of the time it's empty. Totally worth the trip, right?

Hiii so I'm still around, just really been crazy busy. As in, the NerdFitness team has been in town and I've been working like 16 hour days. 

 

But everything has been going great. I was able to meet a bunch of people Friday and Saturday night, and then spent all day Sunday filming with Jim from BeastSkills.com on a NF Academy project.

 

Today I'm a bit sore but totally worth it.

 

Headspace - still haven't done once D:

On time - I'm hitting about 80% now, which is better than my 0% before. Going for 100% this week (was early today!)

Food! Tracking made me realize I'm not eating nearly enough. Massively increasing calories starting today. Purchased white board for fridge so now I track as I go without needing my phone.

madi - yup. last few days haven't been able to, and we had an intense behaviorist meeting today so she's refusing to leave the house, but in general we've been on track with this!

Do you prefer your training log mostly left alone so that you have a more continuous record?  (Ask Spezzy on the Challenge Log, not on the Training Log?)

Do you prefer your training log mostly left alone so that you have a more continuous record?  (Ask Spezzy on the Challenge Log, not on the Training Log?)

 

doesn't matter.  i just liked the idea of moving it as my challenges rarely have to do with lifting anymore (me getting to the gym isn't a challenge to me) and i'd rather keep it all in one place for continuity's sake :)
