Yea, he ruled in every way,

a fairytale cliché, an people called him Gaaalaaavaaaaant!

 

Yep that's my theme this challenge.  If you don't know what Galavant is, it is a comedy on ABC featuring a lot of singing and set in a medieval fairytale setting.  So pretty much everything I ever wanted in a show. 

 

Anyway, I have been away for a while doing my own thing and making progress. That is, until the holidays hit. Now I need a little extra motivation to get back on track and lucky me I happen to come back just in time for the shiny new challenge system.
 

As for my challenge, it is somewhat inspired by Galavant's return to questing shape toward the beginning of season 1.  My lift workouts involve bench, Military, Deadlift, and Cleans.  As for my diet, I have the most difficulty on the weekends, so for now I am going to focus more on what I eat when I am at home rather than how much. 

Anyway, down to it:
Q1: Isabella's Training:  Lift 3 times a week, Arrow workout 2 days a week
Q2: Sid's Cooking:  Stay paleo on weekends, stay under 1800 calories on weekdays ( I am on a cut right now)
Q3: Fit in My Armor:  drop to 20% body fat (if I can't do it this challenge I will roll it over to the next) 
SQ: Xanax's Laboratory:  95% completion of my work goals (kinda shoehorned this one into the theme, I work in a lab so it's the best I could come up with)

 

That's it for now, I haven't decided if I am going to do anything fun with the updates yet.  It will depend on how busy I get and, of course, how well I am sticking to my challenge.  'Till next time, TALLY HO!

Quick update:  Every thing is going smoothly so far.  I have had a few surprises in my diet but nothing I couldn't work around.  I have been sticking with my workouts and have been sore since Tuesday.  The fatigue is effecting my reps a bit, hopefully that will clear up after the weekend.  I haven't checked my BF% since Monday, I think I will be checking it weekly to monitor my progress.  I have been 100% successful in keeping up with my work goals, I hope I can keep that going. 

 

Yesterday, my 2 year old daughter decided she wanted to take the cushions off the couch and jump on the springs underneath, which I let her do to tire her out before bed.  I decided to join in the fun and get some exercise so put on her favorite jumping song: House of Pain's "Jump Around" and did my best to keep up with her.  (I was jumping on the floor of course, I doubt the couch could survive me standing on it much less jumping)  I did pretty well, made it through the song....but then she asked to play it again.  I didn't last as long as she did through the second round, though my daughter wouldn't let me quit and continually insisted I keep jumping with her.  Who needs a trainer when you have and active toddler?

I made it through the weekend!  So, thus far I have stuck to my diet and workout goals and as of today I am down to 23% BF (down from 23.5 at beginning of challenge).  Work goals are going well also, only missed one task.  Now I just need to keep the momentum going.

I had a setback today, not so much a loss of willpower, more like life getting in the way.  My wife had car trouble and I had to spend my workout time trying to fix it.  Hopefully, I can finish up with it this evening and I won't have to miss any more workouts.

Well, I don't know how, but some cosmic force managed to fix the car.  Seriously, I couldn't figure out what was wrong and when I had it all back together and was about to drive it to the mechanic, the problem was fixed.  So, I missed two workouts but at least I don't have a mechanic bill to deal with.  (Net win?)

 

That has been my only setback so far.  I hopped on the horse again this morning and had a great lifting session.  That is if you ignore that I was stupid and clipped the weights on while I was doing bench and nearly killed myself.  Other than that, it went well.

I have been AWOL from the forums lately, but I haven't forgotten my quest.  I did slip up again this past weekend though, mainly due to dinner guests and a birthday party.  Social situations + weekend = diet fails. 

 

I am keeping up with my lifting  and work stuff though.  Just need to power through this last week.

Here's the Rundown:

 

Isabella's Training: 85% complete +1.7 STR, +1.7 STA, +0.9 CON

Sid's Cooking: 88% complete +1.8 CON

Fit in My Armor:  Advanced 29% toward my goal +.6 CHA

Xanax's Laboratory:  99% complete +1 WIS

 

Overall 75% complete.  I would call it moderately successful.  Next challenge, I am getting back to bulking up.  See you there!
