EVEArgent
The Force of willpower! (Now updated with some more goals!)I have a laziness problem. It includes depression, anxiety, general not wanting to do anything, anger, hatred... Willpower is my #1 issue. For sure. 70% of the time I will skip things I enjoy instead of doing them, no wonder I never stick to anything. So this challenge will focus on just ... doing things. And keeping doing things and building up my Willpower storage system. 1. Work out on days I do not go to work. (usually two days a week) (+2 STR)Like I said, its usually two days a week. I previously tried to use these days, without success, for going to volunteer hours. Turns out, days off I want to stay home. My gym is IN MY BUILDING. Even then, I might just work out in my apartment since I mostly do body weight stuff anyway. I got a few buddies who go with me sometimes. They have been doing a good job of actually getting me to the gym. 2. Volunteer at the SPCA for at least 2 hours a week. (One shift a week) (+2 WIS)Something I enjoy at a place I want to work, but somehow I can never get off my ass... Going to start trying to go after a work shift. That way I am already dressed, out of my apartment and have been up for a while. 3. Stop sleeping past noon on days off. (+1 STA)PRODUCTIVITY! 4. Read some at least a chapter of a book every day. (+1 WIS +1CHA)I do not often finish books. I would like to read more books. 5. Record anxiety attacks & depression episodes & days when I have to struggle to do things. (+1WIS +1STR)I get these regularly. I just want to write them down, keep track, so that when I finally get the courage to go to a therapist I can have something to talk about. 6. Develop Morning/Night routine(s). (+1WIS +1CON)Maybe to help my skin dryness or take vitamins or just shower more often. There are a lot of things I feel I could be doing that I am just not because it's not a routine. 7. Work on a craft thing for an hour a week. (+1WIS +STA)I have an unfinished sweater in my closet. It has been almost finished for 4 months. I have 3 projects lined up after it. 8. Keep on track with pet cleaning stuff. (+1WIS +1CON)I bought a real calendar to help me keep track of things like how long its been since i cleaned the cat fountain or litter box or did a water change in my fish tank. Rhyme
HEY! I know you!! I've been away and it's great to see a familiar face. Can't wait to follow your challenge. 70% of the time I will skip things I enjoy instead of doing them, no wonder I never stick to anything. Woah. I've had the exact same issue, and it's so bizarre -- I love doing this thing, so why am I avoiding it at all costs?? It doesn't make any sense and it's so frustrating. It's a relief to hear I'm not alone on that one. You volunteer at the SPCA? Cool! Animals are great and it's so rewarding to help them feel comfortable on their way to a new home. What do you do on your shift? I'm sorry you've been having motivation troubles, but by the looks of your goals, you're on the right track to a better place. EVEArgent
Week1 1. Work out on days I do not go to work.Tuesday & Thursday this week. Tomorrow is the test. 2. Volunteer at the SPCA for at least 2 hours a week.Scheduled for Wednesday at 2pm. 3. Stop sleeping past noon on days off. Again, tomorrow and Thursday. Theoretically my roommate and I are getting up at 6:30 to work out tomorrow. I foresee it not happening actually, and working out later. 4. Read some at least a chapter of a book every day. Did this today. It was a short chapter. On chapter 10/32 Gonna take 22 more days to finish this book at this rate. Not bad, for me. I made a goal on GoodReads to try to read 30 books this year. That's like, a book a bit less than every two weeks. I probably won't make it, but I'll try. 5. Record anxiety attacks & depression episodes & days when I have to struggle to do things. We Good. 6. Develop Morning/Night routine(s).This morning was kind of a bleh. I just flopped around a bit. I don't even remember if I brushed my teeth. 7. Work on a craft thing for an hour a week. Who knows! 8. Keep on track with pet cleaning stuff. This weeks tasks: Clean Litter Box & Cat Food dishes - Tuesday, Clean Cat Fountain - Thursday, Fish Tank Water Test & Change - SaturdayEach takes days of tasks takes about 30 minutes. 3 Quote Level 5 Daemon Assassin Strength - 8.4 | Dexterity - 6.3 | Stamina - 7.4 | Constitution - 7 | Wisdom - 8.5 | Charisma - 7.2 Champion of House Targaryen Current Challenge 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 "Sometimes glass glitters more than diamonds because it has more to prove." EVEArgent
Week1 (Day 2 Tuesday) 1. Work out on days I do not go to work. (0/2)Nope. I just flat out didn't do this. I had all of the time and still nothing. 2. Volunteer at the SPCA for at least 2 hours a week, one shift. (0/1)Scheduled for Wednesday at 2pm. 3. Stop sleeping past noon on days off. (0/2) 12:15. TWELVE FIFTEEN! Come on. XP I even have an alarm set for 10 I just didn't want to. 4. Read some at least a chapter of a book every day. (2/7)I did get two chapters further today. On chapter 12 now. Only 20 more in this book. I have such a booklog. Get it... Puns. Terrible. Forget it. 5. Record anxiety attacks & depression episodes & days when I have to struggle to do things. Still good. Except for the getting up and working out. But really, that's not depression, I just like sleep. 6. Develop Morning/Night routine(s). (1/14)I also don't remember this morning. I dont think I had breakfast, I fed the cats... I.. fed the fish. Its bedtime now. Night time routine I will try to: Brush teeth, Floss, Wash face, night Lotion face, Read a chapter if I haven't, sleep. Seems easy.I did the night stuff today after writing this. I wish I could take vitamins in the morning/night routine, but I need food or I will 100% just throw it up. Actually... Morning. I'll try morning. Moring I will try to: Brush teeth, Wash face, day lotion face, dress, feed animals, breakfast, vitamins. Those are good starts. At least I have some sort of plan now. I'm not sure what breakfast will be. I have one egg. maybe an egg and a protein shake? (Work is at 6am, breakfast at 5:15ish tomorrow, so nothing fancy) 7. Work on a craft thing for an hour a week. (0/1)Who knows! 8. Keep on track with pet cleaning stuff. (1/3) This weeks tasks: Clean Litter Box & Cat Food dishes - Tuesday, Clean Cat Fountain - Thursday, Fish Tank Water Test & Change - SaturdayEach takes days of tasks takes about 30 minutes. Litter box done. Cat food dishes done. I did it. It looks dismal from afar, but it wasn't all bad. I also did laundry. Thursday we will try again to wake up better and work out actually. I am participating in the Tests. I like that the first one was push. I enjoy trying to do push ups no matter how not great I am at them. I will try all the ones I can! 1 Quote Level 5 Daemon Assassin Strength - 8.4 | Dexterity - 6.3 | Stamina - 7.4 | Constitution - 7 | Wisdom - 8.5 | Charisma - 7.2 Champion of House Targaryen Current Challenge 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 "Sometimes glass glitters more than diamonds because it has more to prove." XP At the SPCA I mostly do laundry and dishes and fold paper litter boxes. It's pretty gross work. Poopy. Poopy work. But, I can't have a dog and I can't have any more cats... But.. I want to help. So I do laundry and dishes and I am ok.Some days I walk dogs, some days I will socialize the cats, basically just playing with them through the bars. Oh bless you for doing all this! I'm a cat socializer/caretaker at a local shelter and boy are there animals who know how to get things dirty. I'm looking at you, kitten who likes flipping her water bowl all over her bed. And of course, there's nothing like diarrhea from a cat who you didn't know needed a high-walled litter box. Even so, it's worth it, even when it's heartbreaking! There was this charming boy with a heart condition that people kept overlooking because of his two-year life expectancy. But that cat had no clue about his condition, he was playful as could be and had the most heartwarming cuddle strategy ever devised. It's tough to see so many animals who were dealt a bad hand, but it's wonderful to know you made their lives better on their journey to a new loving home! EVEArgent
Week1 (Day 3,4 & 5 W,T,Friday so far) 1. Work out on days I do not go to work. (1/2) 50% - C (We'll call it a C anyway) - Wk 1 CompleteI did the gym thing Thrusday with my boyfriend and one other friend. Yay friends. We'll call 2 times a A - C - F scale for 2 - 1 - 0. Keep the motivation going. I did hurt my neck at work this morning, so I may have to put this on hold while that heals. Monday is my next day off from work. 2. Volunteer at the SPCA for at least 2 hours a week, one shift. (1/1) 100% A - Wk 1 completeDid this Wednesday after work. It passed surprisingly fast and I got word they fired more people, guess I should apply again, eh? I have my second dog handling training thing tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get my green lanyard (the authority to walk dogs with light behavior problems, which is a good step toward getting a job there). 3. Stop sleeping past noon on days off. (1/2) 50% C - Wk 2 - Complete. Yis. About 10:30 on Thursday, which isn't great, but its an improvement. 4. Read some at least a chapter of a book every day. (2/7)I did not do Wednesday, though I got a few pages in, and did not do at all Thursday because I cleaned my kitchen instead, not a bad trade. Will try to do today 5. Record anxiety attacks & depression episodes & days when I have to struggle to do things. Still good. 6. Develop Morning/Night routine(s). (1/14) Night time routine: Brush teeth, Floss, Wash face, night Lotion face, Read a chapter if I haven't, sleep. Seems easy. Morning I will try to: Brush teeth, day lotion face (optional), dress, feed animals, breakfast, vitamins. I lied! I am not going to wash my face twice a day! If I need lotion in the morning, I will put on lotion, but if not I wont. So morning routine is updated. I still haven't remembered vitamins in the morning yet, I need to put those somewhere in the kitchen to remember. I also have not been doing the night routine. Naughty. Still 1/14, we'll get to 2 tonight. 7. Work on a craft thing for an hour a week. (0/1)Sunday or Saturday I gotta do. Not sure which, options closing. 8. Keep on track with pet cleaning stuff. (2/3) This weeks tasks: Clean Litter Box & Cat Food dishes - Tuesday, Clean Cat Fountain - Thursday, Fish Tank Water Test & Change - SaturdayEach takes days of tasks takes about 30 minutes. I hate cleaning the cat fountain. It makes my hands all pruny. It actually wasn't as dirty as usual. 10/10! Would keep up schedule. Only one more thing tomorrow for this one. EVEArgent
I have done it, people. Today I got up at 10:15 and went to the gym for 40 minutes by myself. Progress. And I did the morning routing sans breakfast, because I just got back from the gym. Breakfast before gym makes me not gym. So breakfast & vitamins is now. 3 points so far this week. Already basically quarter of the way to beating last week's score and its only noon on Monday! Ha. EVEArgent
I worked a bit on my crafty things yesterday but never posted a picture. I have been holding off on finishing this sweater for so long. It was just pinned an crumpled in a ball in my closet. I finally finished the last of the hems yesterday and wore it around my place. It's nothing fancy, but its the first piece of clothing that I have finished through the hem stage, which is a huge accomplishment for me in terms of Seeing Things Through. Everyone said it looked like Jedi robes, so I thought it was fitting to post some pictures There is still a belt to complete, but the directions are deceptively difficult to understand so I put it off for next week. Hopefully I can figure it out. Right now It just looks... not right.. and I don't know how to fix it. Leimanu
5. Record anxiety attacks & depression episodes & days when I have to struggle to do things. (+1WIS +1STR)I get these regularly. I just want to write them down, keep track, so that when I finally get the courage to go to a therapist I can have something to talk about. Who's with me? Last year, I wrote down negative thoughts as they came, and later would then try to write three positive things to reframe those negative thoughts since they were ridiculous. It brought a lot of awareness to how dang often I was mean to myself. It's a great exercise, and I hope it helps you. You're right, it'll help when you go to a therapist. You'll look proactive I still use it when I find myself slipping. I'm with ya! 2 Quote <--<< Daughter of Artemis >>--> Link to comment
Lady Hawk
Last year, I wrote down negative thoughts as they came, and later would then try to write three positive things to reframe those negative thoughts since they were ridiculous. It's amazing how easy it is to be hard on ourselves when I know for a fact if someone said those things about a hood friend of mine I'd call them out for it in a heartbeat. Makes me wonder... who am I to myself? And why do I put myself down instead of defend and build up myself (which is truly what I want anyway!) I like your idea for helping to change the thinking and bring awareness to the thoughts! 1 Quote "What do you fear?" "A cage. Truthishly, I still have trouble with the idea of actually writing out my anxiety/depression thoughts because I fear making them that real (and also other people seeing them). 2 Quote Level 5 Daemon Assassin Strength - 8.4 | Dexterity - 6.3 | Stamina - 7.4 | Constitution - 7 | Wisdom - 8.5 | Charisma - 7.2 Champion of House Targaryen Current Challenge 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 "Sometimes glass glitters more than diamonds because it has more to prove."
