Ugh guys!  My friend went to the gym without me, and it's snow-rain-icing now.    On top of that, breakfast made me sick.     I am going to attempt something tomorrow... but, it looks like we're on the PK now.     Tighten up that defense all!

It has been pouring rain here for many hours.  Was planning on running outside while it was warm again, but the puddles are so deep that I'm going to have to go to the gym again.  Come on ladies!  Nice short shifts and keep up the intensity!  We've got this!

I didn't quite meet my distance this week - but I DID meet the "2-3x" per week requirement.    Since I thought I was going into the weekend with NEEDING a 3rd run, I'm gonna play honest and call that a goal against.

 

Final score.

3-1

 

Nice showing ladies!      I think most of us start our runs of the week on Tuesday, so I'm excited to see what we do tomorrow!

My goals are going to be toned down a bit.     Aiming for 2 runs at 4k each.  

 

Obax goal 12k

Starpuck goal 8k

Polgara goal 8k

 

 

I've always done well when I do 2-3 runs, but let hockey count as one of them.   Since I have a game on Saturday, I will run Tue/Thur, hockey Sat.    That leaves MWF for strength/rehab stuff.

Hey guys,

 

I'm also going to have to tone my goals down this week since we have a tournament this weekend and will be playing at least 3 (hopefully 4!!) games this weekend.

 

I will run twice, for a total of 8k

 

Did 5 (ish)k this morning.  Ish, because I kept knocking the emergency stop on the treadmill with my elbow and having the computer restart.  So I'm pretty confident I have done at least 5k, but didn't notice the distance/time just before the second time I did it (seriously, was 4-5 min after the first time).  So I estimated conservatively.

Did 4k on the treadmill, with a 1 minute break at the 18 minute mark. Running sucks. I'm pretty sure I get the opposite of runner's highs, I always feel so miserable after...

^  I was going for that, so yay!

 

As for the runners high. Yup.  The only high I get is always about 15 minutes after I'm done and back and chilling out with a different thing.   

 

Today, it hit 37 degrees and sunny!     There's still snow out, but I really wanted to soak up some sunshine, and after several days at the single digit mark, 37 felt quite moderate.

 

I did something I've NEVER done before.   I ran outside.  In the winter.  In the snow.

There were MANY walk breaks.   Partly because I was tired.  Partly because some spots were plowed up and dangerous and I had to scramble over them, not vault! :)

 

Got 4k in today.    Brings me to 9k for the week and I've made my mark!

I should've gone and run yesterday and I didn't.  For no good reason other than laziness.  I won't be able to make it up.  So that's me letting in a soft goal.

Aw Polgara, I feel ya.  I am in those shoes today.  Thankfully, it's not a run day, but I have my strength/shoulder rehab to do and I REALLY DO NOT FEEL LIKE DOING IT.

22k total for the Black Ops line!

 

 

And Obax has brought the game up to a 2-1 lead!      

 

I've hockey tonight.    9:20 game about 50 minutes drive away.    My teammate is gonna pick me up, so that's awesome at least.   Gonna try playing without the KT tape and see if there is a difference.     Guys, I am SOOOO tired right now.  I want my bed, some tea, and some anime.... I can't even fathom driving an hour and lacing up skates for a game right now.

Good luck with the lack of tape! I'm still taping my shoulder, it pops and grinds a lot less when I use it, and gives me a bit more confidence when I'm playing. Even if it's not actually making a difference, I think I'll keep using it a while just for the mental boost.

 

Also, I know that feel. All I want is a whole day of video games, but I just can't make it happen....

Week 3 goals: the same, 3 runs at 4k each.

 

Run #1 has been accomplished, in spurts, since I had to keep stopping because of stomach cramps. But I finished it all! Still not outside, mother nature decided to make up for the lack of snow in December all in one day. Sidewalks are impassable, and road running is just asking for a 'pedestrian struck' article in the local newspaper...

Goals likely the same for me too - but I am in a serious place of disadvantage.    Tues/Thur are my run days and I forgot my gym shoes at home.   (Do Canadians refer to them as gym shoes or sneakers?   Gym shoes is a very Chicago-metro area term I've heard.)

 

So I really can't run at lunch.    And since the temperatures are still hovering at 2-8 degrees before windchill, there will be no chance to outdoor run at home.    If I wanted to be REALLY go-getter.   I'd do another gym/shoulder workout in back (since I can do that in my socks- though it'd suck) and shift the runs to Wed/Fri.

Canadians, at least Canadians from my part of Canada (Southern Ontario) call them gym shoes (or running shoes, I use the terms interchangeably and dependent on what I'm doing/where I'm going, eg. if I'm going to the gym I would refer to them as gym shoes, but if I was going for a run, I'd call them running shoes, even though they're exactly the same pair of shoes. I have no idea what I'd do if I was ever to go to a gym for a run, though...).

 

Sneakers sounds the same to me as calling pop 'soda' (ie. horribly wrong). I used to work with someone from Indiana and she always said 'soda' and it was so weird to my tender northern ears (though I think Chicago is norther than where I live, technically, but whatevs).

 

So, were you a go-getter? Did you give it a hundred and ten percent, keep cycling the puck, get pucks to the net, pressure the defense, have a strong backcheck? Any other hockey cliches you can think of?

I did not make it to the on Tuesday.    I used it to get some much needed supplies from the local Target though.    Something has decided to wreck my gut.   I've no idea what it is.   And my brilliant plan to fix it, is to feed my gut two negatives so it becomes a positive?  (Math is hard.)

 

I think that a big part of the issue this week has been the absolute frigid temps.   I am cold, like, cold to the point of being uncomfortable almost all day at work - so when it comes to having to get naked to change into clothes to go to my car, to drive in the cold to a gym to run, and then reverse, but while covered in sweat, is SO unappealing.     It's supposed to warm up this weekend and we'll be back in the right around freezing temp zone.    That I can handle.

 

My willpower is running low this week - and I am barely keeping up with my shoulder stuff.   So I think that what motivation I can scrape out of the jar, is gonna go to that first, and runs second.     Plus ... rot gut.  Hah.

 

But go you Obax!  You're holding us together!   Digging deep, getting to the dirty areas, grinding and battling.   WOOO!!!
