Gobnait
Unloaded the dishwasher, put a new load in. Put a load of laundry through the machines. Put hubby's D&D books away but there is still stuff on the table that he needs to deal with. Poked a little bit at the laundry pile but didn't make much of a dent. Spent too much time on the internet and not enough time living up to my hopes for the day. Dishwasher got cycled again because I didn't get hubby's lunch containers. He asked me to empty it, I got upity and didn't get past emptying the dishwasher. He filled it instead of doing top rack only. 1 Quote I have conditions that affect my social awareness. Gobnait
I didn't do anything that I was supposed to do. The dishwasher wasn't cycled, I only drank 16oz of tea, and my husband insisted that I do something artistic today but I didn't really get to it. I only cooked dinner because I was getting grumpy and didn't communicate that all I was doing was boiling some potatoes. I did go through my fabric stash, which I had decided to give half back to my mom. It's just that instead of small scraps, she's getting a lot of fleece and velvet... large panels. She'll have permission to pass a lot of it to her knitting friends. My foot really hurt today, like if I had to go out, I should have remembered my cane. Oh, yesterday I also cleaned out my bag. Typing that made me remember that I needed to load more coloring pages into it. I ate a fortune cookie today. "Go for the gold today! You'll be the champion of whatever." Whatever is a very soft and meh word, and I'm already a champion of dismissal. The cookie I ate yesterday said "Expect the best!" Quote I have conditions that affect my social awareness. Gobnait
All I did was cycle the dishwasher and order pizza, and I don't feel guilty. Hubby replaced my battery, but then he decided on a whim to take a voltmeter to the old one. The old one's number was too high, which meant it had been damaged by something regulating the voltage from the alternator, which meant I couldn't drive. I took the bus to an appointment, it took all morning, and I kept wanting to fall asleep after how stressful the first half was. (I took the first available bus instead of the right one, so I had to wait. At least I got to go to McD.) By the time I got back home, I was yelping because of my foot, and I had been using the cane half of the time. 1 Quote I have conditions that affect my social awareness. My plantar fascist isn't that bad, though I probably strained the outside-edge tendon by avoiding a proper heel-strike. I almost wore my boots instead of my mushy old slip-ons on Monday, but my toe hurt. (Doctor said "Maybe gout?" and referred me to a podiatrist.) Gobnait
Let's see, Friday I had an appointment and demanded hubby's car. After dropping him off, I was going to go out to breakfast and kill time, but I decided instead to go home and take care of the dishwasher. I got it emptied and filled. After the appointment, I got a message that he should be done with work in an hour, so I derped around for a while in a park and then went to wait for him. Then I dropped him off at home, grabbed a bit of lunch, and hit the grocery store for meat, frozen convenience food, and marked-down candy. Hubby replaced my alternator, but blew an important fuse so my car still wouldn't start. Today, I was pretty much done by 10. I loaded the crock pot with London Broil and sliced potatoes, then I made cabbage soup for lunch. Got the dishwasher cycled at least once, only drank half my tea. I also made a bread in the food processor. I did maybe two loads of laundry and my priority is to get the clean baskets empty. I poked a bit at a cross-stitch project, but mostly I didn't do anything. I have another appointment on Tuesday afternoon, and whether I have my car or take the bus, I intend to waste the entire day. Rayvanna
One of the best ways to deal with plantar fasciitis is to take an old coke bottle (other soft drinks are available) 500ml size and half fill it with water, or take a golf ball. Put it in the freezer to get nice and cold. Have a nice pair of socks on. Roll your foot along this frozen bottle with a reasonable amount of pressure, focus on the areas of tenderness and try to "stretch" the fascia in that area. Make sure that you are doing regular stretches for your calf muscles (both gastrocnemius and soleus) Well done for going home and sorting out the dishwasher instead of just sitting in a cafe. Making good choices is a lot of the battle. 1 Quote Starting a new journeyhttp://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/76327-challenge-1-rayvanna-vs-old-habits/ Link to comment

I also have a collection of spiky balls from the dollar store that do sound appealing. I worked on a cross-stitch, definitely messed something up. I'm going to go middle-out on a new piece of cloth in a new color and then decide what to do with the ruined project. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/dd/7d/6e/dd7d6e5808be055773c7b93e03ea7c95.jpg I also poked at a not-important project of getting the fabric I'm giving to my mom boxed up. I was supposed to get laundry sorted and put away. I declared the kitchen hubby's problem, though I did unload and partially reload the dishwasher. Yesterday's leftovers are in the crock pot. And yeah.... keeping score is for mid-spring through late-autumn. The entire next winter's challenges are going to be devoted to limiting backsliding on progress. Rayvanna
So it sounds like you have really tight calves. The 2 big calf muscles attach to your achillies tendon which attaches to the plantar fascia. Slowly stretching that out is going to really help. All stretches should be 30 seconds and should be to stretch not to pain. Every little bit you do will help you to get the house under control. Hope you have a good week. Gobnait
I've been having a rough time. Hubby's mood drags me down. Part of it is my fault because I can't get help quickly enough. I might take off for my mom's house sooner than I planned. (Mom is going to get a live-in maid in exchange for my vacation. Hubby is going to get a reset. I'll get to experience proper winter.) I don't know what happened to yesterday, except that I spent half of it sleeping and didn't do the dinner that I planned because I didn't get started early enough. I've been falling on my face as far as laundry, dishes, dinner, goes. And I don't know why, but I fell asleep about noonish again and didn't wake up until hubby accepted delivery of a pizza. Gobnait
This is a perfect argument about why it's not spectacular to make New Year's resolutions until spring. That works. I'll probably be fine. One month of hard winter, then it should be early spring when I get back. Hopefully that will shock my system out of SAD mode even though I normally don't get natural light. (I do have a rule that I don't have to start housework until the sun rises. I probably should amend that if I keep getting up at stupid-o-clock in the morning.) I'm probably going to keep this thread on the next challenge instead of starting a new one. I don't know if I'll be able to check in via phone. Definitely when I get back, I should check in every day, and try the tea goal again. I did read something... https://www.reddit.com/r/writing/comments/3v6zfr/two_years_ago_i_started_writing_a_minimum_of_1000/ What I learned from Zen in the Art of Writing by Ray Bradbury is that you can't write 52 short stories in a year (one a week) and make all of them suck. At least one of them will be good enough for you to rewrite. This was an eye-opener for me. So I wrote 15 short stories this year, of which I consider 4 to be good enough to rewrite (6 are total shit, rest is okay-ish). So, try it out. You have 7 days to finish a story. If you don't make it to the end by day 7, just write a bad ending, or consider doing another 7 days on it. I don't feel bad about never participating in NaNoWriMo because I usually spend the fall being domestic, January through February just resting, and then write intensively from Spring until September. I think that I should try just sitting down and writing as much as possible when that urge kicks in. 1 Quote I have conditions that affect my social awareness. Gobnait
I ain't dead. I probably should have tried to check in, but I was busy. Let's see, on the trip out, I started out at 2 in the morning without enough sleep, kept stopping to try and nap, finally gave up around eight because the sun was up. I had pretty much went out with only a rough idea of where I was going, trusting the GPS, and ended up having to drive through fog because I was relying on road-naps to get through a trip that is too long for a straight-shot. I got stuck for two hours about 20 minutes from home because the truck I was using to find the road decided to pull off. Something similar happened several years ago, too. That time, I took off at sunset because my mom was the one who needed me there. I had gotten to the boring part around sunrise. The trip several years ago, I took a longer route back so I wouldn't have to use the GPS, and did it in one shot to outrun a snowstorm. (I did spend an hour at sunset just resting.) The trip back yesterday... I had only a vague clue about how I was going. On the trip here, I started being on the phone with my mom constantly and she was a virtual-presence navigator. She did a lot of it on the way back too. She did find a nice route for me. I learned that I do better if I have a mixture of expressway and backroads, US 35 turned into the type of road I needed at just about the right points. There was a point where I had taken a backroad out and I should have considered it, but it was dark by then. I wanted to push through the last five or so hours instead of stopping... I did have to take a road-nap because of heavy fog that kept me on the highway for several pull-offs because I couldn't find them. I learned that the food I needed to keep from getting sick was wet vegetables like tomatoes and peppers. I grazed on a 20 oz. coffee cup of each and a cold gyros. On the way out, I had gotten a chicken-wrap for what felt like lunch and ate the cucumbers first. The tomatoes and peppers were the thing I bought before getting stranded, I had just decided to stop at a 24-hour grocery for stretching my legs. 1 Quote I have conditions that affect my social awareness. Gobnait
I had to paint my old bedroom and dig my old bed out of storage before I could sleep in there instead of the couch. I think I was spackling within 8 hours of arriving at my mom's house at 4 in the morning. That was actually good, I was being productive. Loading the stuff that had been on and around my bed back into the storage room... We got everything before that done over the course of a short week and then rested, which meant that step was hard. She's on the 40 bags in 40 days challenge now. I got to tromp around in snow, and drive during a snowstorm, and get cold. Now I'm in full early spring like I predicted. I didn't get my whole list done... I'm probably going to have to paint baseboards and trim next time I visit. Some of the stuff was too ambitious or stuff that she didn't have the energy for when we were planning my visit. When I was driving back, my mom was purging her bedroom. Mom wasn't getting the Konmari principle as it was stated... her Christmas angels weren't sparking joy when she had to pack them away for the season, but they might when she pulled them out again. I told her to do it room-by-room. We got my old bedroom into a decent guest room, though it's a bit too sparse for her comfort. (Even hotels have wall-art and comfort items, so minimalism isn't the way to go. I think she's going to put display shelves in and perhaps pare down the decorations when a guest does come.) I told her that since she's not ready to paint her bedroom, to see what wanders back in there over the next few weeks. I bought a lot of junk. I had brought a totebox of fabric that I didn't think I'd use to her, she's going to turn most of it into lap-quilts for charity which is the perfect use for a lot of it. The totebox was fluffy-full coming back. (The box itself was too large for her to lift.) I grabbed a banker's box. I'm hoping that a lot of the volume was clothing and stuff that was just traveling both ways with me, like coats, clothes, and blankets. I did give her a small bookcase that I wasn't using. Gobnait
Time to start bashing out what I want to start next week. I want to have a chore-chart where I'm expected to get most of my dailies done every day and my weeklies done on most weeks. I want to easily go through "for company" rooms and have them easily company ready. I want to do art or crafts just about every day, or maybe just play with toys like a little kid if I'm really stuck. (I had forgotten about that Ray Bradbury thing.) I want to limit screen time. I think what's doable in four weeks is to limit screen time and make progress on de-chaosing the lower level of the house. And figure out what should be on my chore-chart. My mom has "Monday clean" which I disrupted a little bit by being there, so I don't know the whole thing. I can't take weekends off, so Monday might be my shutdown day.
