WonderNatarella
Hello! I am a French nerd, living in Belgium. I am not new here but I set my last challenge a while ago! Today, I weight 89 k (about 196 pounds) and I am already hitting the gym at least 3 times a week (thanks to a personal trainer). I said goodbye to 20 pounds in the past 4 months. I would like to keep up the good work, especially with my eating habits for which I definitely could use accountabilty. Why do I need help? I spend the last 3 weeks eating unhealthy food. I am not making a big deal of it because I understood why this happened. However, it's not a behaviour that will help achieve my goals. So I just want to go back to the healthy habits I developped in order to ultimately reach the goal of being light! I need accountability because I don't have real life friends who like working out, or who are paying attention to what they eat. I hope that I'll be able to find the support that I need here in the forums! My long-term goal I would like to wear a eur size 40 (I am at a size 44 now) and weight 79 kg (175) and sustain it. I want to be light in my head, in my body and in my heart. My challenge goal : I'd like to lose 4 kilos and most importantly, my challenge will be a success if I managed to eat paleo 80 % of the time ! (aka 2 non-paleo meals a week) Goal 1 : Journaling 4 days a week It's important for me to voice out whatever I feel and think for my mental sanity. I've been doing this for the past 15 days, everyday and I see how beneficial it has been for me. So I want to keep it this way. Since I tend to eat when things are not going the way I want, I choose to insert journaling as a fitness goals. Goal 2 : Follow my paleo eating plan and no snacking I created a plan with healthy snacks around 16 or 17 if I am hungry (mainly carrots and veggie dips). I am allowed to 2 exceptions a week if I want. Kryptonite : my thoughts and the lack of accountabilty. So I really need you guys! Goal 3 : Accomplish 2 BW training sessions and 2 cardioActually, my secret goal is to move my body as much as I can. I bike to place, and I intend to find a dance/body expression class I could join because I feel that my body needs this. However, I chose to keep up the exercise session at the gym because they make me happy. Life Goal : Read the book Better Person - Gretchen rubin This book has very interesting insights on how we form habits and most importantly, how to sustain them! I think that it's a good read for this challenge I will update tomorrow with measures ! Looking forward to reading your challenges! 2 Quote Level 2- Panthera AssassinCHA 4 - WIS 3 - STA 4 - STR 2 - DEX 1 - CON 2 Why is Natarella here?Steps to greatnessFirst challenge !!Second not-so-good one ..Third challenge Jan 2016 challenge... long time after Link to comment

I'm a long-time journaler, and am continually fascinated by how much it helps me in so many ways. Anyway, your goals look awesome, best of luck to you and I look forward to watching your progress! I think that it's a good read for this challenge Ooo, habit formation is one of my favorite topics. Check out my battle log where I discuss it a lot. I will have to check out the book you mentioned. I read The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg in Dec 2014. Still using the cue, routine, reward strategy for creating habits. Excellent book. 1 Quote Current Challenge We are what we repeatedly do. Hi Peelout! Indeed, I actually read the Power of Habit back in 2013 after a Steve mentioned it in one of the post. I still find it very interesting and it totally helped me get back into fitness 2 years and a half ago. However, I think it is incomplete and the book I am currently reading does fill the gaps somehow! Will write a review of it when I finish! fitnessgurl
Hi! Found you, yay! I totally understand about not having anyone else to work out with; it makes it harder when the friends you have eat like they will never have another meal.I comfort eat as well; but my comfort food has changed. It used to be sweets and now it's grilled cheese and French fries. A small step but a step nonetheless. Eventually I want my comfort food to be veggies. I have just started journaling again because I suffer from monkey mind (my brain chatters at me and won't shut up) which keeps me from sleeping. I also do meditation and that helps. We can do this!!!!! 1 Quote L3 Human Ranger/Assassin Str. 6 Dex. 2 Sta. 1 Con. 12 Wis. 8 Cha. 3 https://www.nerdfitness.com/character/58014 Motto: Where there is life, there is hope. Say "MAX GLUTEUS!!!" if any combination of the above! If all else fails, YOU GOT THIS!!! (from all of us) MAX GLUTEUS! Thanks for checking up on me! Here is my update for this week : - Bikes (mine and hubby's) got stolen this wesnesday. I went into a rage and since my bike is the equivalent of a car for me, it is very annoying not to have her anymore. - Nutrition : poor. My willpower is being used in being productive and progressing in my business (life coaching and consulting) that I feel it is hard to successfully accomplish both. - Fitness : OK. I had 2 sessions of BW training 1 session with my trainer and since I am bikeless I walk. - Journaling : every day! So this is going quite well and it's helpful. - book reading : I read a quarter of it. However I find it much less interesting than the Power of habit (that I read 3 times and counting). The author rambles a lot about her personal life. I want to share some private thoughts here : I am in a transitional period regarding work. I left a job I hate 5 months ago and I am building a coaching practice. It grew very quickly but somehow I got scared at some stage. Well I feel a bit lonely and slightly overwhelmed with everything I have on my plate. I have a very supportive partner and uber supportive friends. However, I am mad at myself that I can't set my eating habits right at the moment. It's frustrating because I strive to be a role model, but at the moment where I am changing my landmarks, it's like comfort eating is the only thing "familar" since everything changed in my life (for the better) I feel sometimes that I am being carried by this mountain stream beautiful new life) yet a part of me hangs on the branch (old not so beautiful life) until it collapses. Sorry for the rant! I hope your challenges went well! 1 Quote Level 2- Panthera AssassinCHA 4 - WIS 3 - STA 4 - STR 2 - DEX 1 - CON 2 Why is Natarella here?Steps to greatnessFirst challenge !!Second not-so-good one ..Third challenge Jan 2016 challenge... long time after Link to comment
peelout
Rants are part of what we are here for. Sorry about you bikes. I used to live in the city where getting something stolen and having to chain down everything seemed normal. Finally moved to a 'boring' little town where someones car getting broken into is big news. Regarding diet, are you trying to take on too much at one time by any chance? I never had any luck trying to change a lot of things at once in my diet at the same time. Only when I focused on 1 thing at a time and made that a habit was I able to improve. I started with just having a protein shake for breakfast and eating 1 salad 6 days a week. That is my only requirement for success right now. Consider just 1 or 2 small changes that you believe you can control. Something small and specfic. By specific, I mean a single item, not something vague like "stop eating all sugar". When you choose something small and specific that you can control, it gives great motivation. The 2 things I chose aren't the only things I work on. But they are my only requirements for success. Once you've created a habit for those 2 things you can add other small changes. Give each habit a good month before adding more. I know this sounds slow, but you can implement 12 habits over the course of a year this way. When is the last time you ever implemented 12 changes in 1 year that you still follow? Just my 2 cents for what its worth. 1 Quote Current Challenge We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Diet is 80% of losing weight, exercise is 80% of motivation. The only thing I am 100% sure of is my ability to be wrong. Link to comment
fitnessgurl
I agree with peelout. It sounds like you're on overwhelm. Maybe pare it down to journaling (since you're acing that), eliminating just 1 thing from your diet (I'm eliminating bread), and kick the book to the curb.As for journaling, I was a slacker for the latter half of the week which is probably why I'm not ssleeping well. 2 Quote L3 Human Ranger/Assassin Str. 6 Dex. 2 Sta. 1 Con. 12 Wis. 8 Cha. 3 https://www.nerdfitness.com/character/58014 Motto: Where there is life, there is hope.
