Padawan Challenge #1

7d9c5b3b77c920ac0da28be5488c6d47.gif

Hey guys! This is my first challenge as a Padawan and I'm supremely excited.

So, several things have happened since last we spoke. First off, Christmas. I think so far I've managed to eat decently, but I haven't worked out much simply because there's not really been time until now. This challenge will get me back into the whole thing. I'm also hoping to start focusing more on my food stuff this challenge. I'm somewhat decent at this point, but not fantastic and I'm really hoping to get better about my choices.

Another thing is that I cannot run outside anymore. After just a short time, my chest gets tight and I can't quite breathe right. This means that I cannot play Quidditch this semester, sadly enough. But I don't really have time to go to an allergist before school starts back again. Also, I really don't have time to play Quidditch. So I'll work on getting myself in nice flexible shape for my secret summer project.

My focuses for this challenge are going to be food, strength, and yoga/flexibility.

Goal 1- Food Log

giphy.gif

For this goal, I'm going to make sure I log all of what I eat every day. If I have a day where I end up binge eating, then instead of logging the food publicly, I will log what I was feeling when I decided to binge eat. I will keep a private food journal as well that will have the logs of the binge eating as well as the 'how I'm feeling' bits.

Log all 28 days- A- +5 CON

Log 23-27 days- B- +4 CON

Log 21-26 days- C- +3 CON

Log 12- 20 days- D +2 CON

Log less than 12 days- F- No points :/

Log 23 or more days- +5XP

Goal 2- Strength Training

a-long-time-ago-when-was-the-star-wars-s

This is going to be about what it has been. I'm going to be doing the endurance lifting stuff since it gives me longer for my muscles to grow and I really like the plan I've been doing anyway. I've got time to do morning workouts twice a week again, so that'll be about what happens. I really want to build upper body strength, especially since my secret summer project requires lots of strength.

2 workouts/week almost every week- A- +3 STR

2 workouts/week a couple weeks- C- +1 STR

Rare workouts- F- No points!

2 workouts every week unless school work gets in the way +5XP

Goal 3- Yoga

2f4cf588f4af6da6252806032242323a.gif

So one of the things I need for my secret summer project is bodyweight training and flexibility. Thus, I'm going to do yoga twice a week as well. Besides, yoga is a great opportunity for me to have

2 yogas/week- A- +4 DEX

2 yogas most weeks- B- +3 DEX

1 yoga most weeks- C- +2 DEX

Less is fail

2 yogas most weeks +10XP

Life Quest- Flexibility

2015-12-04-1449212090-1375481-feelthefor

So with the flexibility, I'm going to try to make sure that I train my flexibility on the days that I'm not doing yoga or other workouts. My sister (a gymnast) has shown me a couple of things that I can do in the mornings to increase my flexibility like intro to splits and intro to bridges.

3x/week- A- +3DEX

2x/week- B- +2DEX

1x/week- C- +1 DEX

Rarely/never- no points

At least 2 days where I remember to stretch per week- + 10XP

So excited to get this challenge going! I'm ready to start my Padawan training.

May the Force be with you!

Guys, I have recipes for you.

I know many of you are Paleo and/or Whole30 or other similar things, but I have a massive Google Drive folder that's always growing that's full of great recipes for whoever wants them. It's here for whoever wants it. Some are from the Ranger cooking thread, some are ones I've found online and want in one place. Enjoy!

Thanks guys!! I'm keeping my secret summer project secret since I'm not 100% sure if I can afford it due to price. Plus, its a bit out of my comfort zone. I'm waiting until I know for sure that I'm committing to it before I reveal what I'm doing!

Good morning! I did my stretches already and am quite pleased about them. Hopefully doing them regularly will help increase my flexibility. I am also SORE from my workout yesterday. I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that I hadn't gone to the gym in a while. Today, aside from my stretches, is a rest day. Tomorrow will be yoga and errands hopefully.

Yesterday's food log:

Salad(lettuce, pepperoni, cheese, garlic salt, croutons), piece of Parmesan chicken without any noodles, a rather large volume of potato chips (whoops), and dinner at Outback- a bit of buttered bread, bacon and cheese fries, mac and cheese, sandwich with prime rib, cheese, bacon, and onions, the last two or three bites of my bf's blooming burger(burger with pieces of a blooming onion on it)

So overall not an excellent day, but it was the last time my bf and I will get a chance to eat out (most likely) together. Aside from going out with some friends to catch up on Thursday (Cookout- not healthy but delicious), I shouldn't be eating out any more this challenge unless it's related to the travelling back to school in the middle of the challenge.

Today will be much better :)

Way to plan out your variances ahead of time. It's easier for me to stick to the plan if I know I have a special meal coming up.

I am actually staying with my grandparents tonight (usually a mess of bread and unhealthy food) and I thought it might be nice if I cooked dinner for them instead. So I'm working through the cravings. I'm also having a cup of coffee instead of eating all the random foods. For today so far, I'm proud of myself.

Guys, I added a link to a Google Drive folder in my initial challenge post. It's got recipes from the Cookfire thread and other places online and most of them are quite healthy though not necessarily 100% Paleo/Primal/Whole30 compliant.

Enjoy! :)

Awesome thanks for sharing :)

Anytime :) It's taken me a while to compile these recipes and I love sharing them with others because it's such a work in progress to find recipes that I can create.

That baked chicken recipe seems to be above my paygrade when it comes to cooking skills...

Haha. For real though I might try the chicken parm recipe.

Haha I only put that in there so that I remembered the temperature and time

I actually haven't tried the chicken parm one yet, I keep forgetting about it xD

My favorites are the fajitas, broccoli chicken rice, and shepherd's pie :)

I usually bake chicken at 350F for 40 minutes. Yours seems like a time saver. I don't use bread crumbs though. I season it with a pinch of salt, pepper, cayenne, and powdered garlic.

I like Panko crumbs mostly. My mom was the one who suggested the time and temp, it helps me not have to wait so long. It's quite delish :)

The recipes look great. One question: how long do you bake the peanut butter muffins for? I don't think the recipe says, unless I'm not reading it right. In which case, sorry for the silly question. I'm a real newbie in the kitchen, but I'm trying to learn a few simple recipes to wean me off the processed crap - ahem, food. Thanks for all the inspiration! :)

TBH- I have NO idea. I haven't made that one yet :/ I found it in the ranger cooking thread ages ago. I'd say cook them ~20-25 mins or until a toothpick in the middle of one comes out clean- without batter on it.

And no problem, I've slowly built up a bunch of recipes that I can do fairly easily and if I can save one person the trouble I went to for this stuff, I'll be happy :)
