GREETINGS, FELLOW REBELS.

Is everyone else as excited to get this challenge going as I am?!

LET'S PAR-TAAAY.

Background

I'm Zho. 26, female, 4'11", 136 pounds as of this morning -- my lowest weight in 10+ years. Torn between classes -- perhaps assassin, or ranger? My fitness goals can be summed up as something between "functional strength and movement for everyday life or emergencies" and "do cool stuff." (Oh, I forgot "look freakin' amazing." That's in there too.) I want to be able to lift heavy things for my day job, flee from an attacker if I have to, do a pull-up, hold handstands, etc. I really like parkour and Ninja Warrior stuff, but I won't be getting into that until later this year, probably. I also challenged my sister to a virtual 5k in April, but I have no idea why because I have zero openings to actually train right now. I'd probably never progress beyond a 5k; I'd rather get faster than go farther (further?). So, yeah. I'm all over the place.

Anyway... let's move along, shall we?

I was going to save the Zelda theme for another challenge, but I just can't help myself. It's my thing.

Zho Tests Her Courage

1. FIND A SWORD & SHIELD.

Strength training, at least three times a week.

This challenge will cover weeks 2-5 of the beginner strong curves program.

A = 3x/week | B = 2x/week | C = 1x/week

2. BE BRAVE. TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND.

Practice handstands at least three times a week.

20 minutes of training each; this includes rest time.

A = 12 sessions | B = 9 sessions | C = 6 sessions

3. LISTEN TO YOUR FAIRY.

Maintain and follow my weekly meal plans.

This one comes with a LOT of variables and mistakes (I've only just started weekly meal planning),

so success hinges on if we pick up fast food for dinner (unplanned), or if I clearly overeat that day.

A = 4 (or less) bad days | B = 7 bad days | C = 8+ bad days

4. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.

Fun life goal! Post a daily drawing in this thread.

It doesn't have to be on time or drawn that same day, it just needs to be one fairly clean

or finished drawing for every day of the challenge.

A = 22+ days | B = 18+ days | C = 13+ days

Rewards

My 4-week reward is one shirt based off the theme of my next challenge.

Here's what I'm currently considering:

One, two, three, four.

I might do a two-week reward of $10 towards more equipment, like ankle weights and socks. ;)

Hey Zho and welcome to the nerd fitness forums.

You have clear cut and well planned out goals that I'm sure are well with your reach.

I encourage you to find and follow some of the other newbies here, by supporting others you should hopefully receive their support in turn. With a strong group of people behind you cheering you on, I'm sure you'll do amazing.

Best of luck this challenge.

Hiya Zho! I love your theme, and your rewards look awesome. I think your quests are definitely challenging enough, just remember if it's too much (or too little) you can always adjust as you go. I might have to pop in every once in a while with a "HEY, LISTEN!" :D

Wow, thank you guys for the warm welcome! I wasn't expecting any kind of replies, haha. I'll be doing my best. Let's begin!

1/4

The first day of the challenge was incredibly stressful. I had a rough day at work that was not made any easier by my lack of sleep in the two nights previous. Boyfriend brought me junk food for lunch. I ate it. Afterwards, I thought I was just going to throw my first day under the bridge and call it a loss; we'd just eat junk food for dinner and it'd be one mark against me on day one. Somehow, though, I pulled through -- I remembered that I could make a pretty easy taco dinner if I speed-thawed the beef in the freezer. I took a shower when it was thawing and it gave me the last kick in the butt I needed to make a decent home dinner! I had a bunch of leftover peppers and onions that I portioned for today's crockpot soup and even tomorrow's baked ziti. So, my meal plan is a little out of order, but I'm still accomplishing it. Yay!

I'm going to call day one a win. The lunch was a no-no, but I turned the day around by cooking a nice dinner even though I didn't feel like it and then not having my usual midnight snack.

1/5

Today and tomorrow are my only days off before I work eight days straight, so I want to make them count. Today I hit my goals, tidied up a bit, and prepared my grocery list for when I go later today.

- Strong Curves A: done!

- Handstands: done!

- Dinner: Already cooking away in the crockpot.

Finally, here's my first two drawings for my first two days:

They're not much, but they were definitely a wake up call. They don't completely feel like my style. My artistic abilities have really deteriorated the last few years, but I'm going to fight to get them back.

1. What's a ziti? I love recipes, food porn is one of the best parts of some peoples threads.

2. Working 8 days straight sounds killer, I'm sure you will do fine.

3. Is your BF supportive of what you're trying to do here? Just curious, fast food and all.

4. I think you have amazing artist skill, I can't draw a straight line with a ruler!

Hey Zho!  I'm somewhere in the 4'11" height space (I claim five feet typically, I believe in rounding up) and I know us short people have to stick together :)  I have to say your drawings are pretty darn cool to me.  I realized when I read your thread that I didn't give myself any options for rewards!  Seems to me the best excuse to look around on Amazon for a while.  Cheers!

Hi there! Wow, I LOVE your grading scale. I hadn't even thought that far in advance and I put myself in a Pass/Fail kind of place, which will be great if I pass but discouraging if I fail. Next challenge I'll definitely implement some of your ideas there. I also really like that your reward is not food based. I tend to lean that way and takes me two steps back. I'll have to ponder what else would make me feel like a winner. :) Great work so far!!

Hi Zho, welcome to the Rebellion!

Nice job of setting goals and a plan for measuring your accomplishments, I'm looking forward to watching as your drawing progresses back to your standards.

Great job of turning Day 1 into a success, a very Rebel thing to do :)

 As you can see by my avatar,  I'm one of the Assassin ambassadors.  I see you mentioned thinking about the Druids, and they are an awesome guild, but let me offer you an official invite to come on over and check out the Assassins.

Here is the Den, where all the Assassins hang out and support each other.  The Assassin Phonebook is a cool place that we keep updated with who is working on what.  You can check out their threads or ask questions.

Here is the Assassins' Scullery food chat thread.  It is full of good Paleo, Primal and conventional recipes.  This may give you an idea or two for your cooking quest.

And probably most importantly, here is the Assassins Initiates chat thread where you can learn more about the Assassins and find answers to any questions you may have.

I'll be following along with your challenge, I'm really looking forward to seeing your successes.
