Since I figured it out, can I be a spy too? I don't speak French, though...... Also, great day 1! You may absolutely be a Canadian spy! I have no idea how you go about it! I totally do the same thing with my to-do lists, it just feels so good to cross stuff off! That it does. That. It. Does. Day 2 Didn't go to the gym as planned, but went up to Lululemon instead. I got a gift card for christmas, and despite not really thinking their prices were worth it, I wanted to spend it. Ended up getting a pair of crop running tights that feel wonderful. Still not sure they are worth the price, but I will give them a good test drive! They are no Shardplate, but then, what would be! Then, took kiddos to the dentist and the park. At the park, I did a bunch of exercises - hung from the monkey bars, bulgarian split squats, and calf raises. Also did 3X8 knee pushups, and then since I'm trying to progress, I did a 4th set of... 6? Emails has sorted out the French vetting process, so things are moving forward and I'm very pleased! The interesting thing I'm finding is that I've decided on limiting my treats to 3/week. In past challenges, I've limited treats to only with other people (which keeps me from being a pig), but this means that I am reassessing the quality of my treats. Do I really want to scarf some low quality chocolate, thereby being forced to pass on something much yummier later in the week? This mythic 'yummier' treat is keeping me from eating crap. This is good, but I'm thinking probably not sustainable. I guess this is why I'm trialling various different methods of controlling my sugar intake! Things gyms may or may not appreciate, working out pantless I'm only quoting the funniest part of this post... Seriously though, way to go on not letting things get in the way of your run! Yeah, I seriously considered running in my dress pants, but decided that they were just too uncomfortable. I got 'er done though! Day 4 (yesterday) Biggest news yesterday is that my very own copy of the Way of Kings arrived in the mail!!!!! So I spent a good 10 min trying to find where I left off, then reading the next few chapters. Reminded me of all sorts of awesome features of this world - Greatshells, fearspren, creationspren, every other type of spren. Also read a huge reveal or two! In some ways, I'm glad I put this challenge together before finishing the book, because I suspect that these characters will change situation quite a bit in the last 1/3 of the book. Once that has happened, it would have been hard for me to think of them as Bridge Crew, studying with Jasnah, or maintaining the war camp. Dalinar during the Chasmfiend hunt! Kaladin Bridge crews need to run for hours (4 weeks of 10k training) Week 1: 4.75 + 4.07 = 8.82km Nothing new here Bridge crews need to carry a heavy bridge (push/pull progress 3/week) Did a weights work out yesterday. Raised my squat weight by 5 lbs, though I had to wander around the gym to find the itty bitty plates ( now up to 25 lbs on the bar - never sure how much the bar weighs!). Then did some assisted pull-ups, did 3x3 at 55lbs assistance, then did 3 slow negatives at 40lbs! Yay! I really felt the last set of squats, so I am hoping some foam rolling will help with the DOMS! Push: 2/3Pull: 3/3 Nothing today as it is our first ringette game since before Christmas! And, surprisingly, very little DOMS or stiffness at all. I am starting to actually believe some of the hype about foam rolling! I've been using a rolling pin to do my quads, and I might have to continue! Bridge crews don't get much to eat (no more than 3 treats/week) Staff lunch yesterday, and had a lovely cheesecake in a shot glass. All desserts were this tiny size and it was lovely that they weren't huge. That's 2 treats this week so far though. -Treats 2/3 Shallan Nothing new Dalinar Was going to say nothing but then I went and wiped down the bathroom like I should. So yay! Of course, 5 yo had a nosebleed in the night, and ended up spitting blood all over the wall, floor, sink, mirror, toilet, potty, and I'm sure some places I haven't found yet. Sigh. The weekly schedule has gone all to pot, though all the tasks have been done (except sheets/towels, which will be done today to wash out the aforementioned murder site that occurred in our house last night). Suffice to say, the schedule as written does not work. I will be trialling something different next week. Guess that means that my goal was accomplished? -Goal: Follow trial weekly cleaning routine (and note changes needed!)-Monday clean bathrooms (happened Sunday)-Tuesday wash sheets/towels (happening today after nosebleed)-Tuesday grocery shopping (always happens Monday, why did I say Tuesday here??)-Thursday wipe bathrooms (Done!) 3 Quote Level 6 Ranger Current Challenge - Scrubs! Be wary of your form and making sure your head is up, chest up, butt back and back straight. Practice with some unweighted deadlifts first, just to get used to the movement, then slowly work up for there And you want to avoid the smith machine as much as possible. It'll throw off your numbers because the bar isn't weighted much of anything. Plus you definitely cannot deadlift on the smith. If anything I use it for some horizontal pulls.Oh! It actually sees very little action in my gym, while the squat racks are generally always busy - probably why they replaced one! We are playing in the Waterloo tournament next weekend - looking forward to it! Friday/Saturday The downslide started Friday. I had a handful of chocolate covered ginger while the kids watched tv because someone had given them to me. 3/3 treats. Then, I had another handful. Oh dear, 4/3. Then yesterday, I had 2 bowls of chips while everybody else was out. For no other reason than I was alone. 6/3. Ouch. And the worst part? I felt gross physically afterwards. And yet I continue to do this. I can't seem to remember that when I binge I don't feel good. Ick. Oh well, try again next week. In fact, I should decide what kind of treat management I should try for this coming week. I think I should try a set number again, but maybe I need to reward myself for attaining it? Otherwise, I have no motivation to actually restrict. Hmm. Will contemplate this. However, I am giving this goal it's own title since I clearly need more focus on it. I will be channelling Jasnah. Jasnah, the king's sister refuses Ardent Kabsal's bread and jam over and over again. I will decline sweets because they don't make me feel good. (And would Kabsal's bread and jam really make me feel good???!!!) Kaladin Bridge crews need to run for hours (4 weeks of 10k training) Week 1: 4.75 + 4.07 = 8.82km Nothing new here on Friday or Saturday - heading to the gym later to get my last run in. Have only 2.2 km to meet my 11km/week goal. Kind of want to run further, but am concerned about upping my mileage too quickly. Maybe I'll do 3km? And then some strength? Bridge crews need to carry a heavy bridge (push/pull progress 3/week) Push: 2/3 - apparently I have to grab in one more push up progression! After my run?Pull: 3/3 Friday night, we had our first ice time since Christmas. It was lots of fun! Our league runs more like a pickup league, with the same group of women coming out every Friday. We do have two set teams, but we shuffle around based on number of players on any particular night - more social this way! Well, before christmas, we were struggling to have enough people show up. We had 2 or 3 nights where we had 10 skaters total! That means we were playing 4-on-4 to have 1 sub on the bench each! Ooof - lots of ice time for everyone when that happens. Well, Friday night, both teams had 3 subs! The luxury! The funny part is, when we have that many subs, the game is actually faster since people can go all out, and know they will be able to get off and catch their breath. Anyways, I worked up a good sweat and had a good time! Jasnah Jasnah Kholin - like this image for the depiction of the safe and free hands! maegs
While things didn't go so well for you this week on the treat front, it sounds like you know what doesn't work and what might work for you. Time to do the rangerly thing and adjust and adapt! Quote Current Challenge Goodreads|Instagram|Ravelry Link to comment
