Greenleaf re-energizes the Mana Sword

Greenleaf

Recommended Posts

I am back with the Rebellion for round three, after I disappeared in a puff of smoke during my first respawn last summer.

I'm basically working from the ground up again, having completely stopped all physical activity for the last few months. I had great success back in 2014 with the Rebels, so I feel this is the perfect Guild to re-start to my epic quest.

I have some ideas of where I want to go long term with my fitness, and here on NF, but my first task is to get my body used to moving again.

I developed an affinity for swimming during my first challenge, and enjoyed yoga as well, so they are my starting blocks, which I hope will become a foundation I will keep building on.

And just because I love a good theme which ties in with the feel of my challenge, I have gone back to my youth and pulled out my favourite game of all time. As it involves a boy who starts by making a mistake, which sets him off on an epic quest to re-energize a sword, I felt there was some vague symbolism in there at least. Having said that I don't have a sword. Maybe I should get a sword.**mind wanders**

Aaaaannd I'm back

Here goes...

1) The Power of Undine – Healing Waters

Swim twice a week – I love swimming – that is all.

Grading: A = 8 sessions completed, B = 7, C = 6, D = 4-5, less than 4 is a big F

2) The Power of Dryad - Strong roots

Yoga twice a week – This will hopefully oil those stiff joints and get my muscles used to moving properly again.

Grading: A = 8 sessions completed, B = 7, C = 6, D = 4-5, less than 4 = F

3) Avoid Neko and his Chocolate

Two healthy snacks a day. This means definitely no chocolate or biscuits.

Grading: A = 28 days without evil sugary snacks, B = 20 – 27 days, C = 10 – 19 days, D = 5 – 9 days, 4 days or less = F

Life Goal – The Power of Wisp - Let the light guide you

Wisp%20small_zpsxf7veq9i.jpg

Five minutes of meditation daily. My stress levels are completely out of control, its affecting pretty much every aspect of my life. I am not going to let that continue.

Grading: A = 28 sessions completed, B = 20 - 27, C = 10 - 19, D = 5 - 9, 4 or less = F

Lets do this!

Just about! Time is another one of my enemies to be defeated this challenge. Things are pretty tough at the moment and finding any time to myself is extremely difficult.

I did manage to get a swim in on Monday, which is the first positive thing I have done for myself in a long time. Not doing so great on the meditation or yoga though. I knew things would be difficult due to the changes going on in my life at the moment, but to be honest I didn't expect this challenge to be quite as difficult as I am finding it.

I'm also a little disappointed with my snacking also, as I let slip once this week.

Must try harder......

I think I may need to change my angle of attack ever so slightly if I'm going to get through this challenge.

So far I have been trying to complete my swims and yoga on specified days. While this is the optimal way forward, and the way I've always worked before, my aforementioned time issues mean I'm missing sessions, and then not doing anything when I do get the opportunity.

So until I'm properly back in the swing of things I'm just going to get my sessions in whenever and wherever I can.

Plus I really need to get going on my meditation goal. Whatever happens I WILL meditate today!

I was a man of my word, and meditated for five minutes last night, and then again tonight. My mind was still a bit busy during but I used to find that got better with practice.

I also went for my second swim of the week tonight, and I'm already starting to get back towards my old times/distances.

All in all I'm feeling a bit more positive than I was at the start of the week, hopefully the momentum will start to build now and I will get some of my mojo back.

Week one summary

Overall not the start I had hoped for, but on looking at the numbers below I did slightly better than it felt like I did. Stress is still my biggest enemy, but making the time in amongst all of my responsibilities has been tougher than I expected.

1) Swim twice a week

Two out of two. My first session back was tougher than I hoped, but completely expected due to the amount of time I've been out of the game. It felt good to be back in the water.

2) Yoga twice a week

One out of two. Better than none, but I could have completed two, I made the time, but came up with an excuse. Likewise as per the swimming, when I did manage to get myself into gear it felt good to be back.

3) Two healthy snacks a day.

Hmmmm. I would describe my achievement here as...meh... I some impulsive decisions and could have tried harder one bad snack on three separate days so 4 out of 7.

Life Goal – Five minutes of meditation daily.

Similarly to goal three – I could have tried harder. It doesn't matter how much I go on about not having time for myself – ITS FIVE FREAKING MINUTES! I can always make five minutes. However for reasons whih are basically lame excuses I only managed a 4 out of 7 here too.

Onwards and upwards!

Story of my life. Also why I haven't none half of what I was supposed to this week, challenge-wise. Is week 2 going better for you? Sorry I haven't been around to cheerlead. I have plenty of lame excuses for that but no one wants to hear them.

I think of all the reasons I've given myself to not do things, 99% have been lame excuses amounting to "I don't feel like it, therefore I shall pout and avoid it by any means necessary." We all get caught in that trap, the only way out is to realize that yes, we're making excuses, and let's change that ;) Hope to see you back! (I just had to respawn myself)

I love how you have a theme for your challenge.  It really sets the mood.  I see what you mean about making the time for a lot of the challenges.  One thing that I like to do and what helps me with my time management is plan my day out.  I just write out how much time I'm going to spend on certain things.  For example:

0000 - 0600 Sleep

0600 - 0605 Meditate

0605 - 0620 Commute to the gym

0620 - 0720 Workout

0720 - 0735 Commute to home

0735 - 0800 Breakfast

0800 - 0830 Groom

0830 - 0900 Commute to school

0900 - 1520 School

1520 - 1550 Commute home

1550 - 1700 Study

1700 - 1745 Cook Dinner

1745 - 2000 Dinner and TV with the wife.

2000 - 2200 Study

2200 - 2400 Sleep

That's just an example of what I might do.  I like doing this because it gives me an idea of what to expect and ensure that I set some time for a work(school)-life balance which looks like you might need some to alleviate some of your stress.  Anyway, good luck!
