W.r.t. food experiments, what hit me was that certain food textures compliment other food stuffs, example all the food on your plate shouldn't be soft foods, there must be a change, and then what tastes do you put together. Breakfast this morning were baked eggs, with grilled mushrooms and haloumi cheese. The cheese I just fried in butter, but I added Cajun spice to the mushrooms, and those two together with the eggs, was just yummy together! Or grilled chicken with a bit of orange juice (sauce), and then making broccoli with that.

Awesome that you walked away from the Dangerous Doctors' Lounge! Practice a bit more on the cookies :nevreness:.

 

Eish going to Uganda! I assume whom ever organises it have security measures, etc. in place, otherwise they won't get people willing to help? Best of luck and that is such a commitment from you :loyal:

I'm a big fan of food juxtaposition also!

 

Cookies are next.  Friggen work stress weakening my resolve...  Once work calms down some, I'll get to work out the details for Uganda.

 

I tried your mindful eating. Did fine in the first two bites hen I suddenly realized my toast was gone :/. And I haven't had toast is week's do you'd think it would be easy to slow down and enjoy it! Like you said, simple but not easy. Word.

Two bites is better than I did the first few times.  :)

 

Wow you are having an extremely good challenge, keep it up this way. Great videos! I also loved the stuff about the eating Lightning. Nerd-alert, me liky these experiments. And there must be cake, i mean cape, keep the cape (where did that cake come from...?)

Day 10

 

Work was even more nuts yesterday, so I had to make a lot of mindful choices.  Do I eat lunch now at my desk or go see the next three patients?  Do I go home to work on the presentation for tomorrow, or do I go to my swing class.

 

Nourishing Eating - lunch at the computer, had a bagel (mindfully) for dinner so that I could go to swing class (instead of heading home for more traditional fare), but I still managed to have 4 servings of vegetables and a few cookies ;)  Close enough!

 

Nourishing Movement - liiiiiiindy hop class (had to answer a page in the middle, which sort of threw off my focus)

 

Nourishing Sleep - lights in the morning, screens after 8pm (meditation app and transit app to get home)

 

Keeping Track - yup

 

To work, later!

Thanks guys.  I have this tendency to be like... geeeez, be perfect at my self.  Turns out, sometimes we just do the best we can.

 

I think you should get extra points because geez, you're Dr. Annyshay. I can only imagine how hectic that work environment is and you just flow with everything and somehow keep finding ways to fit in time to take care of yourself. Your cape must store extra energy so you can get so much done.

Doubly agree with Lightning!! You work so hard Shay and you definitely deserve some bonus points for making GREAT decisions despite highly stressful times. You're doing very awesome Doctor! :)

Thanks guys.  Cape only got me through so much... Thursday I was still doing paperwork after screens-off o'clock.  Friday I just craaaaaaaaashed.  Today, I'm back up and at 'em.  :D

Day 12

 

Nourishing Eating - screens, sweets... no experiments.... alllllll ze bad stress habits (except being mean to myself, we'll have none of that)

 

Nourishing Movement - came home and promptly napped... body was like, nope nope nope

 

Nourishing Sleep - lights in the morning, stayed up past screens o'clock chatting with my former roommate

 

Keeping Track - will catch up, I promise!

 

Had lots of negative thoughts today and was like, ooooorrrrr you could be kind to yourself.  And then was.  Winning.

Nothing is going to be done if you run yourself into the ground. If I was closer, I'd pull a "mother-says-get-in-to-bed" stunt on you, BUT ...

Thanks, Internet Mum. That's exactly what I'm trying to do. And there has been much napping, never fear! Old habits die hard... But they are scared of my Lady Lions. ;) Today my plan is to snuggle my cat and drink tea all morning. :)

Day 13

 

Yesterday, I decided that today would kick butt.  And it did.  Behold!

 

Nourishing Eating - no screens, excellent choices (including dark chocolate and dark dark wine)

 

Eating the Moment - Experiment #3 - took just one bite of a pastry in the doctor's lounge.  Savored the sweet, sticky, apple-y goodness.  Got some tea and moved on with my life.  Mmm mmmm good.

 

Eating the Moment - Experiment #4 - ate dinner with my left hand, which was amusing.  Turns out the angles are much more difficult to manage with my non-dominant hand.  Definitely made me pay attention to my chicken and sauteed zucchini.   ;)

 

Nourishing Movement - IS2w3d4 

 

Warm Up

Strength and Power Circuits

Three times through the following with 2 minutes of rest in between circuits.

Broad jumps - smooth & solid x3
Shrimp Squats (yoga block) - smooth & solid x2, rough & solid
Chin ups (jump, hold, negative) - smooth & solid x3
Tuck L-sit - rough & solid x3 (but it's like actually happening for a few seconds, w00t w00t)

Jogging in place for 1 minute, the 1 minute rest. Repeat thrice!

 

Yoga block shrimp squats are definitely the way to go for now.  I put two blocks flat next to each other.  Lets me go deeeeeeepeer...

 

Nourishing Sleep - first day with my fancy new light!  it's really nice to wake up to a fake sunrise and then bask under 10X lumens. Screens off at 8-ish.

 

Keeping Track - all awesome recorded
