No sugar junk food since Monday, December 28th!

 

Challenge 21 for me.

Need to keep my eye on the prize. The prize is the good feeling I get each day (never quite now when during the day) when I realize I'm living closer to the me I want to be and getting healthier as a result.

Oh my! Even my Matt_72 comes a callin' !!! How the down under been now that summer's gotta ya sweatin' a bit? I always ask after your tomatoes so here goes that question. Any new types? I see you've been keeping with your MFP, good work there. I'm getting back into it, but habits can be intermittent at first. I hope you and yours are doing great. Glad you stopped by.

HAHA You're so kind PPineapple. You didn't notice then that there are 20 challenges taken on and only 19 levels achieved! lol I'm actually quite proud of all of them, because I never quit on myself. You can have that superpower too! See you around the 'hood!

 

I'm ok, I think. Maybe even bordering on good? We'll just have to wait and see ;)

Just checking in! I am back. I like the thankful goal. It is something that I toy with and never get around to. It is probably something I am going to have to add to a future challenge. It just seems fulfilling. I can't wait to see your progress unfold!

Hey! Great to see you. I agree the thankfulness goals really helps me stay in the moment. When I am, I can see me clearly and more compassionately. It's great medicine.

Day One!!

Wowzer. This feels good.

It's not like 'wow' things happened today,

I just felt like myself and stayed in the moment fairly well.

My goals!

Water: oh dear... I am having a slow water day - maybe 4 1/2 cups.

PT Exercises: nope, I did wheelchair upper body work and put furniture together for my neighbor instead. I did walk some as well, but the pain starts about where it usually does so no changes there.

Better Foods: Hum... kinda (1/2 of a Victory Point) I forgot to pack a lunch for my trip to the VA, but I bought real-ish food at their cafeteria rather than buying McD's or store crud.

Better Budget: Nope... had to buy food (above) $5.99

Listing Achievements: a baker's dozen Victory Points!

1. Got out the door this morning without much stress even though I had less time than I normally do.

2. Scrapped the car without twisting my hips or back!

3. Drove myself to the VA - not sure what type of Victory this is though. It was hard, but not as bad as I had imagined.

4. Used a wheelchair at the VA so I didn't walk all the hallways. I had a hearing test and it went really well.

5. Chose good-ish food at the VA cafeteria 1/2 point

6. Rested before driving home - plus I cleaned out my glove box! hehe

7. Went to store and only bought what I needed (vitamins and excedrin). I got free cutting boards from the stamp collecting (Shaw's)

8. Worked on butcher block assembly for my neighbor - and quit when I needed to rest!

9. Played on NF and saw a bunch of cool challenges.

10. I tried something new for dinner (in the freezer) It sucked! hahaha I then cooked something I normally eat.

11. Made important phone calls instead of putting them off.

12. Did energy work on my left heel. It has been overworked this year with all the arch falling and hip issues.

13. I'm making this list!

Being Thankful: yes! I prayed twice today, both mealtimes. I was able to say thanks and let the warm feelings come to the surface. It is easy to get lost in the embrace of the Great Mystery, but getting to a place where I can feel all the connections is hard. I am getting better though so I'm pretty proud of that. I have done energy work on my neighbors 2 dogs, my body a few times, and cleansed a room. I'm getting better at taking responsibility for my Crone-hood. Thank you Great Mystery for all that you help me see and experience. Nerd Fitness being a real shinning example of perfect timing in my life and fantastic people to bond with and learn from.

So day one has been great. Hope yours has been as well.

Wow, great day! What did you try new that sucked??

It was a steak bowl with peppers and such which I like, but it had a lime-like sauce which kept getting in the way for me. The rice they used was also useless. But a nice idea for me to roast up my own version. I feel like I'm getting closer than ever to really investing in cooking for myself. Feels good.

Day 2 and 3

 

A couple of hard days. I didn't do nothing on Tuesday, but it didn't feel like the right thing to be doing. I didn't get to PT yesterday, but I put together a butcher block cabinet (started Monday) for my neighbor. I ate pizza with my neighbors and still managed to eat half the pizza! Dang, T.

I should be writing these with the positive spin. I had half a pizza, but got to be sociable. I put together a butcher block cabinet instead of doing PT - which was a good physical workout. There.

 

Goals - 

Water -- I'm back up to where I usually am. So now to pump it up some.

PT -- Tuesday was butcher block and today was the pool.

Better Foods -- no sugar junk food, pizza was too much quantity-wise

Better Budget -- did fine, didn't buy any food and got a few brown markers to round out my collection

Achievements::

Tues:

1. finished butcher block

2. shared pizza with neighbors

3. bought art stuff for myself

4. made a tuna on oatmeal bread

5. made phone calls

6. worked on map

7. socialized with friends nearby

Wed:

1. slept in some

2. made a nice 'meal' with stuff at home (chicken strips [breaded, but I shaved most of it off], boston baked beans, and organic corn (tasted like it just came off the stalk!)

3. met a new client -- no schedule yet as I'm not working, but we got to know each other (huge house of animals 9 dogs and 5 cats)

4. went to pool PT even though I didn't feel like it.

5. worked on map

6. worked on biz taxes a bit

Being Thankful -- yup. I prayed at dinner and a little when I first got up this morning. And yesterday, I did prayers at mealtime as well (x2). I feel like I'm more apt to move toward the Great Mystery instead of hiding in some alternate reality (games and such) these last few days. It's been nice.

Ugh we have had some hot ones and we aren't even at the peak of it yet! 

I acquired a small plot at a local community garden a few months ago so you know I went crazy and grew some tomato plants from seed! I have about 6 different types but the fruit has only just started to set on the first ones so I have no real idea which ones they are for a few more weeks. I've also got a heap of other stuff growing. Some is fruiting and other stuff to come in the next couple of weeks months.

Yeah I log my weight on MFP a few times a week and my running app is synced so those stats come through as well. I probably need to start logging my food again but it's only the first week of the year so we are still building up to it.

 

How are you? How is winter treating you? Whats the work situation looking like? I was glad to find a challenge thread for you when i came looking :)

Ooh it sounds like such fun... not the crazed heat of course but the planting from seed.

I've been slowly getting back to MFP now that sugar has taken a leap. Or rather it has gone spiraling off my radar because I shoved it!!

Last year was a mass of hell, heaped with a bunch of fear, sadness, and PTSD triggerings. Lots of physical problems have surfaced: osteoarthritis in upper and lower spine, fallen arches, hip misalignment (slash - who really knows), and my right leg is shorter than my left so now I have a lift! LOL It's so sad it's funny. Some days anyway. I get a MRI on the 19th so we'll see what shows up.

Emotionally I'm back on a good track. Sugar is gone which makes life a hell of a lot easier. Now, I'm trying to find the 'okayness' of starting with really basic exercises and stretches. It's a lot different than the deadlifting and running I was doing. I'll get there.

So glad you checked in on me! Hugs to the family! Just image this Vermonter covered in snow so when we hug, you get cooled off!

Day Four!!

A day off to recoup and relax my worries and frustrations. I don't usually do this kind of thing very well, unless I'm on vacation. So today has been a real struggle in some ways and a comfort as well. I must have plopped down a dozen times to chill out. Each time, I thought, shite, I should be doing something constructive! Well, I didn't yell it the last time so I reckon I'm getting better with it. LOL

Goals - 

Water -- I'm not eating or drinking much today. Not sure if it's a punushment for not being productive or if I'm just not doing enough to wake up my stomach?!

PT -- Was working on my map when I looked up and realized I missed pool therapy hours! Grr!!

Better Foods -- I gotta say, I'm killing this goal. I still haven't eaten outside the house! It's been 11 days!! And I'm having to cook and plan. I feel so good about this! I even flipped through a cookbook and jotted down recipes I wanted to do. Weee!!

Better Budget -- doing fine, minus an app purchase. I'm saving money by eating the food I already have. But, Teri, that doesn't mean you spend it on crap! hehe Yes, ma'am.

Achievements::

1. Was able to take the day off with only some difficulty.

2. Cleaned toilet and tightened the seat - yay for my butt.

3. switched out a table for a corner shelf so I can organize my tiny bathroom more efficiently.

4. took out the trash and put chap stick in my car. Very important!

5. Worked on my map.

6. cleared out-dated food from the cupboard.

7. made phone calls (one to my mom which was hard - I had to back out of something I said I'd do. It's a good thing for me as it was a too-enmeshed thing to do - we have our issues)

8. did one of the 3 surveys on my desk.

9. du'know! LOL

Being Thankful -- no prayers yet today, but I did do some thought pattern reconstruction around the day-off theme.

Hey there, T. I think I have recovered from the teleportation now. You're doing OK, - and yes, keep focusing on the positive. That second half of the pizza would have been disappointing anyway.
