Starting 2016 Off Right

Hey everyone! This is a rough draft for my first 6 week challenge of the year. Things will be more detailed later. My computer can't connect to the Internet, so I'm having to write this from memory on my phone. I normally remember things pretty well, but I'm currently pregnant and very forgetful.

That being said, on with my goals!

1. Eat healthy/eat regularly. Eating isn't normally a problem for me, but ever since I got pregnant I have had a hard time eating. I either don't eat what I should or I forget to eat something I'm supposed to be eating.

Each day I need to eat:

3 servings of dairy

3 servings of protein

1 cup of fruit

2-3 cups of vegetables

2. Get up and MOVE! I need to exercise 3x a week. I am planning on alternating between prenatal yoga and walking.

3. Relax. I need to take at least 5 minutes a day and just chill out. I can do this by meditating, reading my Bible, reading a book 2 or playing video games.

Hey lady, I missed you. Glad to see you back and making strides.

Thanks. It's good to be back. I wound up missing the last challenge because of morning sickness and moving, but I am done with both of those and ready to make some progress. :) What are you up to these days?

The Internet is working again! Unfortunately, I'm too sleepy to go update everything on the computer.

Eat healthy / eat regularly

I ate 3 meals, but I didn't eat all the protein and vegetables I was supposed to.

Get up and MOVE!

It's super cold and windy today, but my husband and I went to Lowes with our pets and walked around. My feet are sore, so I think I got a good walk in.

Relax

I spent 5 minutes meditating and reading my daily devotional book.

I think I'm off to a good start. Sure I need to eat better, but I hear that pretty regularly right now. I've started jogging down what I eat when I eat it so that I can see where I need to improve.

I had a midwives appointment today. I've lost a bit of weight, but according to the midwife I'm fine. I have been eating enough food for the baby, I'm just eating really healthy food and seem to be losing a bit of fat because of diet and exercise. This made me feel better since I had several people tell me I need to be gaining weight and I can't seem to gain a pound.

Week 1, Day 2

Eat healthy / eat regularly

I ate 3 meals, and got all the fruit, vegetables, protein, and dairy I needed today.

Get up and MOVE!

Today was a rest day. I'll be exercising tomorrow.

Relax

I had to make myself lay down earlier today when my blood sugar decided to act up . I read a bit and then tried to get a nap in. But I was too worried about sleeping through another doctor's appointment, so no nap.

Well, yesterday was crazy. Our cat and dog got fleas that I accidentally brought in (I went out shopping and came back with a flea). My husband treated them for it and the smell of the flea meds made me sick for the whole day. I spent most of yesterday barely eating and mostly sleeping. I only managed to get my rest goal completed yesterday. :( Thankfully, I was feeling better by supper and we were able to cook an anniversary dinner at home. :) (Yesterday was our 4th anniversary. I can't believe we've been married for 4 years. )

I'm feeling better today and ready to get some stuff done.

Ok, time to grade week 1.

Eat healthy / eat regularly: C

I stopped logging my food and forgot what I ate. I ate semi regularly throughout the week and I missed eating protein a few days. I have a ways to go on my diet.

Get up and MOVE! : A

I got 2 walks in and did a bit of yoga. I need to be careful since I did walk so much that I had to spend an entire day in bed.

Relax: A

I did a really good job at sitting back and resting throughout the week. I did a lot of reading this week, so next week I might do something else to help me relax.

Overall grade: B

I did fairly well, but I need to eat better.

My new yoga mat came in yesterday. I'm looking forward to trying it out soon. I've been looking up different workouts in can do while pregnant and it managed to find a dumbbell workout that's made to help strengthen and tone my arms so that it can "lift baby easier." I'll see about that.

So, my recap for the last couple of days:

Eat healthy / eat regularly:

I'm ate semi regularly. If got sick from eating an overripe apple for breakfast. However, I'm had a friend bring apple slices to church for a snack that evening. So if got my fruit in. I've also started to notice a trend in my eating habits. One day, I'll eat a lot of dairy, but the next day is eat a lot of vegetables. If don't eat what I'm supposed to on a daily basis, but it looks like it adds up by the end of the week.

Get up and MOVE! :

I'm did a few cat/cow poses yesterday before my mat came in. 1/3 workouts for the week completed.

Relax:

I've spent a lot of time resting lately. I'm pretty tired since little one is in the middle of a growth spurt.

I really need to remember to update more often. I fell off the eating healthy wagon for several days. And the not so healthy days were really busy, so I didn't rest that much. I managed to get 2 out of 3 workouts in as well. Overall, week 2 was a C-. I need to do better this week.

Lunch part 2:

1 apple dipped in Italian dressing

1 bowl of brocoli cheese rice

The rice wasn't as good as the apple, so I don't think I'll be eating it again. I seem to enjoy eating apples a lot right now.

I was getting ready to call it a night when I realized that I hadn't logged supper or done today's recap.

Supper:

1 bowl of spinach and apple salad

1 plate of chicken spinach Alfredo

2 slices of cheesecake

Eat healthy / eat regularly:

I ate 3 meals today. Supper is the only meal that I feel wasn't as healthy as it should have been. The chicken Alfredo had 1/2 a bag of fresh spinach added to it, which does make it a lot healthier. But the cheesecake was empty calories.

Get up and MOVE! :

No exercising today.

Relax :

My husband and I sat down and watched the Star Wars: The Clone Wars cartoon & the movie that kicked off the series.

Since my husband and I have eaten a lot of cheesecake lately, we agreed to go on a walk today. Back in December, we moved from a double wide trailer we were renting to a house we bought. This will be our first exploration of the neighborhood.

Breakfast:

1 apple

Lunch:

1 panini with pesto sauce, Canadian Bacon, onions, and tomato

1 slice of cheesecake

Grr... stupid double post. Oh well. I decided to take my double post and turn it into a photo progress post.

 

Two years ago, I found NF and started passively trying to lose weight. Last year, I decided I was tired of being fat and to do something about it. I new I had lost some weight since joining NF, but to actually see photos from 2014 and comparing them with photos taken in 2015 (most of them are almost a year apart) has left me amazed with how far I've come. So, here's to another year and lot more progress. :)

Supper:

I don't think I'll have trouble eating healthier for the rest of the week, since the cheesecake is gone. I had a friend bring a fruit platter to church and give me the leftovers. I now have grapes, cantaloupe (1-2 pieces), and strawberries in the fridge. There's a fruit dip too, but I don't want it as much as I do the grapes. My husband and I made taco salad for supper. He cooked the meat and I fixed the salad. We had leftover meat and salad, so tomorrow's lunch is in the fridge.

Get up and MOVE! :

Well, we didn't go on a walk. My dog decided to sneak out of the house and we ran around the house trying to find him. We searched the backyard and the road until it got too cold to be outside. I let myself warm up before we drove around the neighborhood. We couldn't find him at all. I was so worried about him when he suddenly came up to the door to be let in. So there was no walk today. Hopefully I can get a workout in tomorrow without something happening.

Relax :

Before our dog decided to go on an adventure, I got to kick back and relax by watching some more Star Wars cartoons.

Yes they are. I normally expect the cat to be the one that finds all the mischief. But I guess the dog has to have his turn too.

Well, the last half of week 3 sucked. I got a stomach virus and then a cold. I couldn't eat anything for an entire day. I managed to keep water down, so I was ok. The cold has just made me stuffy but hasn't been that bad. My appetite is almost back to normal, so yay! Now, to get back on track.

Last week, I only logged half the week and got 1 workout in. I did get plenty of rest. I'm going to give myself a B since I was doing really good until I got sick.

Hooray for feeling almost back to normal! Good call taking rest when you needed it too. It always sucks to have to forgo plans because of illness, but it's much better to do that than to try to power through when you really shouldn't.

Hooray for feeling almost back to normal! Good call taking rest when you needed it too. It always sucks to have to forgo plans because of illness, but it's much better to do that than to try to power through when you really shouldn't.

Thanks. I agree. It's hard to not want to jump back into everything the second I start to feel better, though.

Ugh stomach issues are the worst, I'm glad you're feeling better though!

 

It's always important to listen to your body when you're sick so I think you got an A+ :)

Ok, yesterday was a bit busy. I had a midwives appointment (it was a make up appointment since I got sick and missed my last on). Everything was fine. They actually were able to put the doppler on the baby and we were able to hear the heartbeat clearly (they always found the echo before). We went to Sam's Club and came back with enough meat to last us a month (or 3 weeks if I start eating a lot of meat again). Then I got veggies for the week. Looks like week 4 is off to a good start.

Well, I'm getting my appetite back and I ate good yesterday. But I didn't log any of it. The food wasn't the healthiest I could have had, so I guess I'll have to do better today.

Get up and MOVE! : Well, unless you want to count all the running around I did at the store, I didn't really exercise yesterday.

Relax : My husband gave me his 3DS and let me play a bit of Mario and Luigi Paper Jam. It's a fun game but the graphics drive me nuts. Old sprites running around in a shiny new 3d environment don't mesh well.
